I love seeing things surface from the utter chaos that the picture starts as. If you ever get the chance to see Cloud Cult live, two painters start out in a very similar fashion and end with amazing paintings. The eyes are killer.
@gahjii Yeah, was a little intimidating to take on Jack. Wanted to nail it. I'm a true fan and I'm so glad to be given the opportunity to make these videos...
It's sketched out on the canvas ahead of time. It's not uncommon, and it's not "cheating" or anything. A lot of times when artists do live painting like this, in front of a camera or an artist, they'll have the canvases prepped with a plan ahead of time. Sort of a method to the madness, so they don't make a mistake that can't be covered or fixed. Rad paintings!
Is there anyway to get a print on this? I mean damn..its just so awesome! Maybe talk to the guy who bought it? Hmm.. I guess it would bw up to WB, wouldn't it? :/
I love the painting and Jack's the man but why can I see an image of the mouth on the canvas before its actually painted? If you look really close at the beginning right after he drips the first layer of the background on you can see it flash a few times. Is it some kind of preprinted photo that he is painting over and adding the color to?
Will someone tell me what style painting all these TDW paintings are? What style or technique is it when you paint just the main lines of the face? Someone please tell me
is there a name for the style here where the painter uses such simple pieces to make a recognisable person? do you know what i mean? cause when he paints there is no sketching, but it still comes out perfectly.
@donlonm Whao! Let's not get nasty and start using the F word. Might hurt someone's feelings. Lemme break down the process. Find some photos for reference. Pencil in a guide on canvas. Go nuts, ride the snake, start a fight and add the human element. Mess up the image to taste. This is what I do when I want that stencil look. The thrill is in the sudo destruction of a planned image. Let me assure you that these paintings were executed with sincerity. See my other work...
this is really cool...but wheres the emotion... your putting out these paintings like their screen prints... I see where you are going, very Denny Dent like ( when you do your very precise splattering). which completely takes away from even splattering paint. like I said its good work, but put a little emotion in your work, put a little style in it- just sooo bland
