The CMP Park in Talladega has 500 acres for all your shooting pleasure. 100 to 600 all electronic targets and under covered roof. Also offers a 600yd unknown distance range, you have to distance the targets, bring your range finder. Public welcome - no memberships offered

I am sorry to hear that your visit did not go as planned. As you can see from our overwhelmingly positive reviews, safety and the shooter experience are our top priorities. There are range protocols in place to have shooters move to a shorter and safer distance if they are unable to hit the target in order to ensure safety of the other shooters on the range, as well as the range equipment. Our 1,000 yard electronic target range is one of the most advanced in the United States and uses very expensive electronic equipment that can be accidentally shot and destroyed by an errant round. Lots of disappointment occurs for all the shooters on the range when the equipment is unexpectedly damaged, so we try to avoid that, if at all possible. Russ, the RSO you were speaking with is a highly decorated shooter and is one of the best wind coaches in the county, so we do defer to his decision making capacity on how to manage wind situations on the range. He was planning on giving you free instruction on making difficult wind calls, but unfortunately your frustration with the situation was already palpable. Being that safety is a number one priority, ending the session was in everyone’s best interest. We hate it when these rare situations do occur and we are truly sorry that had to be the outcome because we value each and everyone of our shooters. We will happily refund the range fees for you and your friend in light of the situation.

⁠I don’t believe you have an accurate account of the events that unfolded. I ended the session when this rso asked me what I was going to do about the damage that I caused after firing four rounds total at a target that I was under the impression was put there to be shot at. Was I close to the edge? Yes. Was I causing damage? I seriously doubt it. When I told him I had no desire to shoot anymore he quite literally had a meltdown and did not have the ability to allow me to pack my equipment peacefully. To include cussing me and banning me from the range. This guy was having a bad day and picked me to be his victim. I’m at a loss that you would validate his actions. All 4 impacts were accounted for on the tablet. I will gladly pay for any damages that took place if you would kindly articulate those damages to me. Thank you.
