for Clarity: -Focalors and Furina are 2 separate entities, Focalors is a Divine God, Furina is her Humanity. -Only Focalors Died, Not Furina. -Focalors Intent was to wipe out one of the thrones of the 7, which means there is no longer a Hydro Archon, only 6 Archons remain. (the Hydro Archon throne is erased from the 7) -Usually when a God dies, their residue is powerful enough to cause some sort of explosion or contaminate the area they died in, but I'm assuming Focalors planned for her powers to be absorbed by Neuvillette after she died. -Fontaine is Not under the judgement of Celestia anymore, it is strictly governed by Neuvillette alone. -The Hydro Archons Divinity was destroyed, meaning the Authority over Hydro belongs to The Hydro dragon once again. (Zhongli’s Divinity is still present, meaning he is still a throne even tho he retired.) -Focalors was required to die to fulfill her justice, since her existence as an Archon is an Unjust effect of the Hydro Dragons power being stolen, as long as a Divine Being of Hydro exists, The Hydro dragon would never be Justified. In short, The existence of a Hydro throne/Archon is a wrong doing against the Hydro Dragon, meaning Focalors knew she needed to not only Kill herself but also her Divinity to return The authority over Hydro back to Neuvilette, for as long as her Divinity lives, The Hydro Dragon will never get their Justice. Focalors never wanted to be a God, she wanted to be Human.

@@Genesis00718just to try to understand a bit more, Focalors said "destroy the throne" and with that give Neuvi his powers back which were controlled by the gnosis (that's what I understand) so killing the divinity also destroyed the gnosis, the other gnoses are still existential and someone holds their power, only the hydro one is "destroyed" so the heavenly principles and celestia can hold nothing to Furina or Neuvi or even Fontaine... Personally, I still think Furina counts as the Hydro Archon. She had the divinity. It’s just that the divinity separated herself from its vessel. As for what Neuvillette is in relation to godhood, he’s the hydro sovereign. Simple as that. The big difference in that distinction is that the hydro archon is a subordinate to the Heavenly Principles, while being the Hydro Sovereign makes Neuvillette free to do whatever he wants to.

Then the archon war started to reduce the number from 1000s to just 7 because there was just too many and the world was breaking apart. So the HP forced them to fight to the death and then each of the surviving gods became an archon of an element and were given a gnosis which held the authority of the element. Sovereigns are the original wielders of this power but they never considered themselves gods. Even though they were the original rulers before the heavenly principles invaded and took the power and rule for themselves. Archons were needed to balance out the world. Otherwise the heavenly principles would have just wiped all the gods out. But yea basically Sovereigns are not gods. They are above the gods of their element, but they do not classify as gods.
Both Furina and Focalor is a goat with Furina withstanding centuries of immortality without once having her mind erode. And Focalor decide to trick the HP so she could avoid Fontaine from being wipe off from the map.
Actually her mind was eroding. But it was exceptionally amazing how long she held out for despite being a mortal. This ties back to the relationship between the gods and mortals. The fact that both gods and mortals are both not safe from erosion. Only that one will always have the power to outlast the other.

I love how the ending of this archon quest is not some cliche "we prevented the bad thing from happening", but instead "we can't stop the bad thing from happening. but we can do something about it". Not a single character was wasted out of opportunity from this whole chapter. All the setups from the first act were paid off until the final act. Even the closure of the story ended with satisfaction. Yes, Inazuma chapter was a huge disappointment, but this? This exceeded my expectations. I believe the writers team learned from their mistakes from Inazuma chapter and managed to subvert expectations in the most satisfying way possible. I can't wait what will chapter 5 have for us.
@kgsounds9556 Basically, it had a lot of setups at the start with no payoff in the end, abrupt finale and ridiculously unnecessary character twist. While the character's story quests do retcon the archon quest, it was already set a bad impression as a main quest.

Here is some clarification about Focalor’s sacrifice and how her death meant the end of The Seven’s rules over Hydro while the other previous dead Archons or Archons that lost their Gnosis didn’t. The device that Focalors constructed wasn’t just to kill herself as an individual entity, but THE authority over the Hydro sovereign of Celestia as well (aka the “Throne” or “The Divine Self”), thats why even when previous Archons like Egeria, Makoto or Ruka died, Celestia’s sovereignty over their corresponding elements still remains thus spawned a successor. As for the case of the Gnosis, they are external devices meant as channels and connections between the Seven and Celestia, they are basically employee IDs that archons need to connect to Celestia, and losing them does not mean they will lose their elemental sovereignty. Hence even though Morax and Barbatos retired or Beelzebub and Buer lost their gnosis, they are still divine beings, thus the corresponding elemental dragons did not regain their sovereignty.

So Focalors here is just her divinity and powers that have formed some sort of consciousness (like Rukkhadevata's remaining consciousness at Irminsul not really being true Rukkhadevata). Sooo... What I can conclude that Furina is "Focalors before she became an archon." Soo... Furina = Focalors, but Furina =/= Hydro Archon. Focalors isn't dead, just her godhood. She's now a normal human like she always desired.

Remember that when a god die they bring about disaster around themself. So Focalors 's death is what trigger the flood and it all count as the real flood with primordial sea didn't happened afterall. She accelerate the prophecy herself and make all the conditions happened so it overwritten the true prophecy

As a gay man in homophobic country i can relate the most to furina. Hiding behind the closet for 15 years just not to hurt the family, friends and relatives. Keeping up the facade everyday, with no one to confides. Turns down the marriage offers just not to hurt other human soul and still keeping the facade. furina's story gives me some strength to keep up the facade everyday.

By destroying the throne and returning the Authority back to the Sovereign. There won't be any hydro archons to take Focalors' place in the far future. Unless Celestia is pissed off enough to try and reclaim it and reestablish the Hydro Throne again.

i think looks like Neuvillette's hydro authority is mostly tied to the hydro divine throne which got destroyed along with Focalors death. The gnosis still have the elemental capability as a tool, and the properties of "the remnant" of third descender still have its worth.

As much as people say she takes this action for her nation.... but in reality only one thing I found out in this case. She is freaking selfish. We don't even know by her death will Celestia being shaken at all or the she being fooled by the "act of the prophecy" she planned here. She lets her people and "herself" suffer more half a millenia in ignorance. The worst archon so far for me. I hope Furina (the human) have some unique character buildup moment after 4.2 that make her "herself" and not Focalors.
True,Focalor is selfish but she had her reasons which is the intent to deceive the Heavenly Principles.Her theme "Justice" is what became part of her personality and that in order to save her people,she had to sacrifice herself and put an end what "sins" she has.
Dude, from the looks of it, Celestia is basically dead or at least dying. No significant action from them since the Cataclysm ended. I mean, you would think they would've done something when the sages were creating an artificial god using one of their devices (the gnosis).

I understand why you think so. That what she did caused pain to many people, as well as herself, without the certainty that the plan would actually succeed. But whether she succeeded in tricking Heavenly Principes or not, she saved her people from the prophecy and as she said, she didn't just stand by and watch Furina .She ended up bringing about her own death to bear the "original sin" for her people that Egeria thrust upon her. She giving back Neuvillette's rightful power and Furina's right to live as a human. It's true that she owes an apology to Furina and everyone, that she made them suffer, i don't deny that fact, but I also don't want to refute or underestimate what she did to save the people from the prophecy by her own death. It is much more nuance and complex but if going to this extent to free everyone is still a selfish act, I don't really understand what you mean.
