I wonder if the reason why people see children’s behavior as “cringe” is because children are more likely to be unapologetically enthusiastic about their interests, and some people see that as naive, when it’s mostly just that “adult life” shames you about liking things that children also like
I’d absolutely agree, modern life and capitalism make working class folks feel like they shouldn’t enjoy “childish” things and only consume “adult” things. It’s mostly just another way to divide the population.
I think is more likely because of how "intense" some kids are. Ex: When they just can't stop bringing the thing they like to any conversation, even if it has nothing to do with it... Getting overly angry and/or "threatening" those who criticizes, or simply don't like, their interest... When they harass other fandoms because they think their interest is bad, or something... Oh, and when they start to create overly sexual fanfics... I've been in game fandoms like Undertale, and that's the point where the hate begins: Kids/teens overtake the fandom and act like little shits, and the rest of the fans, not wanting to be associated with them, start to shun their interest. That's why in some cases the game/show resurfaces again after many years: Because people didn't hate the thing itself. They hated the people associated with it
@@WhatIsMyLif3 Yeah the overly sexual fanfics actually come from teens and adults, but for the rest of things mentioned, I've seen adults, teens and kids do it. The harassing part mostly

This video was honestly so encouraging for me. I’m autistic and I’ve always been ashamed about expressing my special interests like minecraft and sonic. Sometimes I couldn’t even stop myself from talking about them so much because I was just so passionate about them. I was always scared I would be bullied for them and I was at one point, I eventually stopped caring yet I still get some anxietys about this stuff but this video really helped me see that I should really embrace myself and my special interests, thanks!
The game itself is fun, the community is just something else I get that children dont know any better and will probably reflect on the cringe in the future but god a lot of people that i've met in the fnf modding community are insufferable
I’ve certainly seen some pretty “cringe” stuff from the fan base, but I don’t really care. The game is still cool and I view it as a really good way to get into rhythm games overall.
Great video, nice message to it. When I was kid reading comics was seen as the cringey thing and now marvel is one of the biggest things in the world. Like the video said goes to show you should just like what you like..
This reminds me of celebrities nowadays who wear metal bands T-shirts because "they look cool" and they don't actually listen to the bands, while more than 10 years ago, they were the same people who would pick on and shame the kids and teens who used to wear them back in high school because they genuenly liked the band
@@ros9764 The People who picked on kids who liked Metal Bands now wear those same shirts and the Kids who were picked on for liking certain bands now go on the internet and complain about people not listening to real music . The Duality of Man

What’s funny is most people who are part of cringe culture are preteens and teens who are now incredibly insecure and are trying to push themselves away from there past selves, as a result they begin to dislike anyone and anything that might be seen as “childish” as they are to scared that others may insult them for it. Cringe culture represents the entire idea and stigma of trying to not be seen as “different” we see it in clothing, gaming, tv shows, anything that people widely use and appreciate has its own form of cringe culture and forces everyone to suppress a true them to the point that they now can’t even openly express themselves.
Ego is such a terrifying thing when you're a teenager, insecurity is just negative ego, so they try flipping it but they have to forfeit their honesty.
Yeah. this affected me to the point where when I finally made a somewhat unique character (which is barely even an oc), i was scared to talk about it just because it wasn't close to the general ''uwu furry'' type characters ive seen so often. and i basically ended up forcing myself to become a stereotype until i ended up having a full blown mental crisis over it.
I was both a minecraft and fnaf kid, and I can tell you that the reason its taken these games this long to turn around and become popular again is that these kids have left school and realised everyone has "cringy" interests. Part of growing up is embracing the things you love without the shame, and without the social pressure from school, people realise that fitting in doesnt matter
In defense of Lego Batman shorts kid: in sixth grade, I entered the school talent show doing animal impressions.... But to this day, my impressions transcended into cartoon character voices.
i have never done anything in my childhood that's become something that i do regularly then again, i still have 5 years before i'm officially an adult, but so far, nothing has stuck to me
I can’t think of anything I’ve done as a kid that has become a profession probably because I’m not a professional at anything because I don’t have a job and I’m 21
I feel like "cringe culture" is just an evolution of that "edgy teenager" phase that most people go through, where they consider anything made for kids "cringy."
So a lot of us go through an emo phase when we were teenager and then for some people it returns when their mid-20s to early millennials stage as cringe culture it's basically just repackaged edginess
I won’t lie fall guys had the to the biggest case I’ve ever had of “finally getting the cool new toy at school after everyone moved on to the new thing” in my life online
Absolutely, it's just annoying. I watched the last Nintendo Direct live, and hooooly shit, when the announcement that Fall Guys was coming to Switch came up, the abundance of "DEAD GAME" was just stupid and unecessary. Like, there's people that really do like the game. It ain't even dead, it has a steady playerbase. If you don't like it, just ignore it and move on to the next big thing.
@@pieofchart There are billions of people on this planet can still play other games, especially for Fall Guys and Among Us. In terms of popularity, I guess the part where Fall Guys is getting downhill is justified because there are some cheaters and hackers who wanted to win the game so bad. Among Us, however, it's also getting downhill since it is getting boring to play. My experience on playing Among Us is easy but it can be frustrated if some Imposter will lurk around and have a chance to kill you while you are finishing your task. But being an Imposter is a lot of fun but it can be a rare case when it is up to the owner of the thread to choose who is gonna be the killer. Since the Airship update is coming at the end of March, I wonder what's gonna be.
@@poweroffriendship2.0 Same man. I played Among Us like two-three times and those weren't even times I'd willing play by myself. I saw that my siblings were playing it so I wanted to join too. Eventually I just kind of stopped doing it because I couldn't bring myself to like it anymore. Fall Guys... I never played it XD. It'd be worth playing if I actually had to motivation to play anything but Roblox... but yeah Though at this point the memes of Among Us probably won't fade until a little bit, the fact that Among Us was cooler than Fall Guys solely on popularity always confused me. I mean, sure, Fall Guys isn't as popular as Among Us.. but they are both just games that you have the option to play. Fall Guys may not be really mainstream but that doesn't change the fact that it's still available for new players everyday. Don't know how that equates to a dead game..
Cringe Compilations are a good wake up call, I remember being so terrified of embarrassing myself as a kid and CC's help me look at the potential awkward scenarios I could've gotten myself into. It's kind of therapeutic?
I suddenly remember how in middle school, I'd play act boss battles against imaginary bosses. By myself. In front of other kids. This was 18 years ago. If all of that took place today, I'd probably be a social media laughing stock and get my own evening news story.
Back when I was in school we had some vampire rp thingy with 3 friends of mine. That was really fun . Honestly people need to shut up about others hobbies.
i used to do that when i was a kid and everyone used to get annoyed at me and used to tell me "stop playing like a crazy person" like bro stfu i'm a child let me be a child
I sung "Stronger than you" to my crush when I was at 12-13. Surprisingly, she actually liked it. Never told her what the song was about but eventually I found out she actually liked me too.
I think the most toxic point in cringe culture was when people started to make fun of well intentioned beginners in the art and animation community, with many of those beginners being children. You’d see all those “Animation Meme Cringe” videos and most of the time, the videos were just making fun of beginners without offering any constructive criticism and more often then not, users didn’t even know or consent to their videos being put in these cringe compilations. (Different scenario if they did consent or intentionally submit their videos though) . It was especially cruel when they threw in videos that were made by skilled children, who were not beginners and had improved over a fast period of time .
I know you don’t have to be an artist to give criticism But you can’t put a decent furry animation into a cringe comp when you probably can’t animate a stick figure walking
Criticism isn’t necessary, it’s helpful but not necessary. If you can’t handle bad comments you shouldn’t be uploading it on RU-vid. I’m pretty sure you don’t need to consent to show an animation as long as credit is given. That’s like saying you can only retweet with permission from OP.
@@RAW-MD firstly, they never said that constructive criticism was necessary, secondly we're talking about cringe VIDEOS not comments. Also they never said you _need_ consent to show an animation that you dont own, just that they didnt know or consent
Dude thanks for this. I was the victim of cringe culture recently. I do voice acting and character acting with a theme based around gold in a 15 year old Valve FPS called Team Fortress 2. I was drunk on new years and after a long night of being there for a bro that had bad girl issues and needed someone to talk to, I headed home and had a few more drinks and hopped into a TF2 lobby. I was doing my normal thespian posh satirical acting bits, mainly inspired by Monty Python, and having the pleasure of seeing John Cleese live, I wanted to bring my own spin to the lobby. Things went really well! At least for the first 50 mins or so. Then someone joined and started talking massive amounts of shit in a very monotone voice. This person was named Venusian Rapper. He is the guy that both Vorobey and Pyrocynical covered recently in videos. This guy spent 30 mins harassing me, using URL exploits to view my artwork of my OC character, calling it "cringe" and siccing his fanbase of like 3k on me. I had to private over 1000 screenshots, and remove my artwork showcase on steam JUST to get away from him. He was kicked from the server by an admin that was called into handle a cheater and noticed his harassment towards me. All seemed ok but well... He then uploaded two different videos on me totally out of context and filled with ALL of my socials, my friends socials, my group, my wifes socials, etc. He even showed how to use the URL exploit to view and harass my profile to others on the net, encouraging witch-hunting and brigading! The ironic part? Mr "Your art is cringe" turns out to be a pedophile, who drew Corn of minors online for fun and money. He also beat his girlfriend and suicide baited her with her own gun, shortly after her grandmother died. This guy is a nutcase who got exposed hard, for things WAY worse than a couple "Cringy" pieces of self insert TF2 art. He got exposed so damn hard the little coward privated his profile as he already got 2 strikes and was terrified of losing his channel to a third. He even made a burner youtube where he has an about me BEGGING for a second chance. TLDR, let people enjoy things. If it isn't against the law, and isn't morally wrong, who fucking cares. Cringe is dead, life is short, be you unapologetically, fuck the haters. They are just insecure and jealous, wishing they could be up front about the things they like, with a mind firmly set in 2015, pity them, for they are dead inside.
The amount of youtubers making videos about fanbases being cringe are pretty much an entire sub genre. Still won't stop me from listening to the Undertale OST and watching jojo.
If someone makes fun of anyone else for liking Undertale's OST I will slap them. There's only one song I can't stand, and it's Megalovania because that was so overused over the years. I don't understand the hate for the OST.
Nah, the Jojo "fanbase" is one of the most unfunny fanbases I ever seen. They repeat the same jokes over and over again, quote the show over and over, claim stuff are a reference to it when Jojo is already a Fist of the Northstar reference, and try to make Araki forgots when they just can't pay attention. It isn't all bad since the artwork and music is pretty good, and I appreciate the people who translated Part 6 - 8 since it let me discovered some of my favorite manga but man the vocal minority is really annoying.
@@antimatter3084 tbh it’s “those” people. The same people who go from fan base to fan base ruining them. They went from Rick and morty to jojo to mha. They’re terrible unfunny people.
7:09 actually I paused and the first comment I saw was: *"I feel like these kids aren't that cringe- everyone is weird and nerdy at that age, and us laughing at them is kind of the real cringe"* which honestly sums up my feelings quite nicely.
To this day, half of the stuff people call "cringe", I find funny (in a good way, not a "haha look at this idiot" way). Like those kids doing the Fortnite dances yelling "We like Fortnite" is great. How they all immediately get up and start quickly doing the dances while chanting it is hilarious. It's literally just a group of kids doing harmless dances, I don't see how it suddenly means "ugh, this piece of media is no longer good, I can't like it anymore." So long as no one is being harmed, it's all just fun and games.
I remember being a young teenager when T-posing was a thing. I'm 18 now and it is honestly about the same thing as Fortnite dancing in public. I just don't think we should make fun of these kids for these things.
I'm pretty sure cringe culture is the very reason I have become extremely cautious in actually liking things I feel like I would love and why I'm incredibly pessimistic and anti-social.
Same. Tbh tho, just go enjoy what you wanna enjoy and don't let ppl knock you down for it. You'll live a miserable life if you worry about what everyone else thinks of you.
@@TheOcelotSlayer I'm doing everything I can do to enjoy what I wanna enjoy but subconsciously no matter what i do I still feel extremely self-cautious.
I have the same problem and yeah, it’s kinda horrible being influenced so much but slowly and slowly you just start doing your own things not caring what other people think
Yeah, same. My advice is this: Self deprocating humor is fine so long as you dont believe it or start to, and so long as people dont take it seriously. Therapy isnt just for crazy people. Just like whatever unapologetically. Imma guess its deltarune, so if someone makes fun of you because they cant handle the "insane and dangerous community of UT" (only partially wrong) then just tell them they are an insecure idiot with crappy taste. I say this from my experience with cringe culture and how to deal with it.
I literally got featured in a cringe compilation which everyone at my school made fun of me for. Thank you for this comment. It really is just older people being unjustly angry at children.

I think that is happening with fortnite atm because I see more and more memes about it and ppl being nostalgic about it just like with minecraft in 2018-2019
You forgot one more thing in that life cycle people calling game "dead game" for likes and stuff despite fact there's evidence of it doing pretty well 🤣
What I hate about cringe culture is that leaves no room for sincerity. It’s irony poisoned a lot of people (even me) and a lot of the people who are the most deep in cringe culture have no room to just acknowledge that people like a thing and that’s perfectly okay.
Growing up with all of these big games, I was annoyed by the kids in my same grade who would only talk about the games they liked and nothing else. There was a kid in my 7th grade class who had autism, and he was a massive Undertale fan. We did a project together, and he was constantly making Undertale references and expecting me to get them, and I was just so annoyed by it. However, I think it was my 9th grade year, and I finally got around to playing the game, and it quickly became one of my favorite games I've played. And now, I kinda regret how I acted with John from Language Arts, and if I could ever go back in time, I'd hang out with him more. And with Sonic and FNAF, I've been a fan for as long as I've known those series (first Sonic game was Heroes), but I stopped being as open about my love for those series after hearing people talk about it being cringey to like those series. However, nowadays I'm much more comfortable expressing my love for them
Despite his seeming lack of social awareness at the time, Sammy classic sonic fan was actually right about a lot of the stuff he said concerning Sega's attitude towards the franchise as well as how the fandom was running the series into the ground. Crazy about it sure but if you took the time to listen to what he was actually saying he was right about a lot of it. We hated Sammy because he told us the truth.
I've said it a million times and I'll say it a million times again: *people who constantly call things cringe just don't know how to enjoy things in life, and unfortunately, that leads to a lot of anti-social traits.*
when your 12 year old brother who used to obsessively play fortnite has now grown into a phase of only playing minecraft and calling fortnite cringe: -_-

maybe I'm just unaware but I never thought cringe culture was about genuinely hating the cringe. I thought it was all about laughing at awkwardness and enjoying it. like for example, I never see people hating SammyClassicSonicFan. just enjoying his over-the-top nature and memeing him in a light-hearted fun way
This reminds me of the whole Gacha kid situation. People will literally bully anyone with a Gacha pfp regardless of their age, skill or content they produce using Gacha Life/Club/etc. Just because there are people out there who make inappropriate content using the app, the people who actually make the inappropriate content should be dealt with and not the innocent people who have nothing to do with that content.
I used to be one of those people who called everything cringe, I turned on FNaF for at least a year not sharing that I enjoyed it. Then I had a friend tell me to play Fortnite with them and then I realized it was okay to enjoy it and nobody cared, so I stopped caring about the whole of cringe culture and started just enjoying life.
def remembered hiding I liked sonic once I hit middle and high school cause anime was the cooler thing and sure I still love anime just sonic is my first hyperfixation and he'll always be near my heart, despite how bad Forces is XD
The cringe culture makes me rethink things when I'm entering a certain fandom. There are people that will always dunk on you like they come at you with the "Oh you like this? Must be cringe, I feel bad for you" line which is very condescending and it makes me feel bad for myself liking these things or these people. I just brush it off now because I can't enjoy things anymore if I keep acknowledging the haters ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I remember in a fourth grade talent show I was trying to do a magic trick and it failed horribly in front of *a lot* of people, i can relate to that lego Batman shorts kid big time…
7:08 "I feel like these kids aren't that cringe- everyone is weird and nerdy at that age, and us laughing at them is kind of the real cringe" you explained it perfectly.

@@catboyhole Yeah people seem to get annoyed by his "meow" and "woof" thing but I really relate to him in that sense. Plus he's just adorable in general and I really wish more people kinned him.
I never understood the hate for kids in fandoms myself. I always felt they have room to grow simply due to the fact they're so young, and that we should let them have their fun. Manchildren on the other hand, are what I hate about fanbases. They get so worked up over childish things and it turns out they're like 30 some and won't be changing anytime soon. Worse is that from my experience, most of the hate for actual children in fandoms come from people who act like manchildren, as if bullying children wasn't childish enough. They don't act like any kid, but like that school bully who picked on the nerds, and considering they do this after having gone to school and learned enough that they should know better by now, I don't have much faith in them learning from these mistakes, especially since all they ever do is gatekeep and bully people for being unabashedly themselves. Twitter is full of these people, to the point that there is an actively common argument there in defense of haters. Like, "let the haters enjoy picking on people for liking things they don't", I'm not even joking. Never on any other website have I seen such active defense for haters. They also constantly try to conflate it with criticism even though haters aren't constructive about it at all. And it's not about letting people not be interested in things either, it's moreso about not wanting people to ruin others' days for enjoying something that Twitter is so against. Funny is that this is the same site that mocks Reddit for having such unanimous hate for Fortnite, but then constantly use defense of Fortnite as an excuse to hate on other specific things for weeks on end, as opposed to simply defending it for the sake of defending it.

So, there. I agree.
@@Hanz_M I also Agree! And if the kids in the fandom did some questionable things, then leave them alone because they will figure them out later or tell them, not bully them.
This. Most of our bullshit both online and IRL are caused by failed adults. Because kids have no rights and no worldly experience, theyre often blamed for the mess left behind.
Fortnite is the only game where you can see Ryu Street Fighter with a gun jump out of a Lamborghini to shoot down Travis Scott and then both Whip and Nae Nae
I can’t tell you how many teens & kids I’ve met in online groups usually for support with mental illness. & I’ve had to explain that they aren’t dismissed by adults because they’re bad or dramatic, it’s because they’re at an awkward phase in their lives & adults look at them & see certain things in their behaviors that make them cringe at their past selves. & instead of providing comfort & guidance to preteens & teens that are presently going through it, they project, shame, & dismiss them. It’s so sad to me because they’re sweet kids. & I know this video is old, but I wanted to thank you for making this video. I think it has & will continue to help that age group forgive themselves for their awkwardness
Even if I dislike most of the popular things, I don’t shame people for liking the things they like. (Except TikTok, I really do hate it and have talked smack about that in the past.)
Similarly, I just don't get why people shame kids for producing "low quality" works. There are numerous cringe compilations online that includes "badly done" videos from children, not unlike the kid singing Minecraft songs in this video. I really can't understand the ultimate goal of people who make these compilations: do they want to make themselves feel better in comparison? Do they want to purge these kids off of the internet? Do they just do it for the clout? If it's the first, the kids are TRYING to improve and learn from their mistakes, while these people are just indulging themelves in content that they dislike but force themselves to watch. If it's the second, do they expect everyone to be perfect right after touching the Internet, or assume that learning is nonexistant? If it's the third, what has this whole process brought them? Will they even be known online as a valid creator rather than a landfill? Anyway, thank you for reading my rant, and thank LS Mark for this video.
Yeah, it's partly for the clout and views from people who think laughing at children is a personality. Sure, I'm embarrassed by things I've done in the past but I was just a naive kid having fun. But I've never enjoyed the whole "hahaha look at this retard playing a game he likes" when it's probably the one bit of joy they get in their life.
The fucked up thing is that children are used as a strawman for all social ailments, especially online ones. Someone says an opinion thats not liked? "They must be a kid." Yet still, if said opinion was disagreed with, the person who disagrees must be "a kid." Its all projection of immaturity from manchildren.
@@marcusanark2541 Ironically, most of all "prepubescent" behaviors are very prominent in adulthood, especially men. Have you ever been around people in their thirties and forties? Is it any wonder why millennials say "adulting is too hard"?
I'm 25 and just yesterday I bought a minecraft poster. It's framed and hanging above my desk right now, and you know what? It makes me happy. I decided I didn't care what other people think, and this video makes me feel even better about it. Thanks Mark! :)
Let's create "cringecore". Basically it's the opposite of cringe culture where you theme something around popular things that kids like in a positive way.
I remember a time when Cuphead was next on the chopping block and people were so insistent that the Cuphead fandom was "bad" and "toxic" and there was a lot of spite art already on hand by those people who tried so hard to demonize the Cuphead fandom. Then when it came time to actually prove the Cuphead fandom was bad, their example was..... Crudely drawn Deviantart posts. Cringe Culture was so desperate that year that it was almost comical
The thing is that you can literally find so many weird Deviantart posts on oretty much any media. Even the "less cringe" ones have their fair share of messed up fanart. Like if that were the case, then every single media consumed by humanity is automatically cringe because of Deviantart.
Something similar happened with Warrior Cats around that time too. A number of people, namely a guy called PK Russel, tried to frame it at something cringey citing some of the lower quality videos and some of the more childish fan fiction kids wrote. However, this was at a time when Multi Animation Projects were all the rage and Warrior Cats was one of the biggest communities for them. It backfired horribly because the biggest things that came up when people looked for stuff on it were absolutely gorgeous animations. Additionally, Warrior Cats differs from things like Cuphead in that it’s not a new media- it’s had a stable community on the internet since the early 2000s, has a much more established and smaller fandom that’s largely of adults with a long lasting interest in the series, and generally keeps to itself. From all of this, it’s way less susceptible to outside backlash than other communities.
genuinely feel bad for the dedotated wam kid, he was just asking what he should use for a server, but because of him stumbling over his words hes made fun of to this day
I’d say “cringe” has always existed on the internet, even when we didn’t have a word for it. Things like the Rainbow Dash jar and Chris Chan’s bigoted rants are more classic examples of justifiably getting secondhand embarrassment/disgust. However, if I saw some 10 y/o’s drawing of Sans, I’m not gonna bully them for it lol
The day that people stop saying "this piece of media bad because fandom bad" will LITERALLY be the day the universe ends because it probably won't ever stop circulating online, unfortunately
I'm a 23 year old who likes FNAF, My Little Pony, Undertale, Stephen Universe, and countless other things that were commonly seen as "cringe" back in the day. The beauty of becoming an adult is realizing that other peoples opinions on your interests don't mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things. Enjoy what you enjoy folks! Life is WAY too short to feel bad just because someone chose to be a judgmental asshole
Cringe culture is why people who are actually autistic and very passionate about what we enjoy don't talk about what we enjoy to others. It's a big reason I didn't want people to know I was into Batman for a long time as an adult, because I was mocked for every single interest I had in middle and high school. Harry Potter, Danny Phantom, Spider-Man, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and yes, even Batman (all because I had a lot of Joker T-shirts and liked to wear them because he's one of my favorite Batman rogues). It really messed my self-esteem up and made me very insecure as an adult. I've gotten a lot better at it now, but every time I see people say "that's cringe" or "you're being cringy" it just... it feels really wrong. I'm with you, dude, let people enjoy what they enjoy, and if it's REALLY getting too much, ask them to please stop making so many references. If people would have told me, "Phantom, we aren't into Batman and don't particularly care which Joker you think is coolest, it's a little annoying, tone it down" I'd have toned it down. Instead they talked behind my back and called me the 2008 version of cringe. Please, don't do this to kids, it could be the difference between someone having a decent self-esteem as an adult or not. Nobody deserves that.
you’re 100% right. i’m autistic and was bullied for so much stuff. even if it was popular at the time, i was still made fun of. i admit i wasn’t exactly “normal” with my interests, for example i once wore a shirt from my favorite band for a month straight (washed every night), but i also wasn’t the kid who naruto ran down the hallway or talked peoples ears off about stuff. it seems that a lot of “cringey” behavior is really just nurodivergent behavior and it sucks a lot cause it fucks you up so bad when you get older. i wasn’t bullied very bad at all and i’m still terrified of telling people my interests even if they’re the one who showed interest in it first.
Oh man as an autistic person I used to hide my interest of analog horror from everyone and I just recently got some fan-made Walten Files merch. The people behind analog horror are actually damn good at creating it
@@thotrot8262 Taking a look back a lot of what is called "cringe" is just child and neurodivergent behavior; being Autistic too I feel very uncomfortable about the bullying these people might have suffered.
This vid summarizes the image with the girl drawing something and the dude coming up and saying "cringe" only to have her yell "your cringe" back and him sobbing infront of a mirror
Great video Mark!. I think you could've talked about the whole stigma with ROBLOX and how it is exclusively associated with cringy kids doing cringy roleplay etc. when in reality, Roblox is full of a lot of talented games and works of art. Other than that, Good job!
"Why come up with an actual argument on why you don't like something and respect people who like things that you don't like when you could just label anyone you disagree with that "cringe?""
I was in middle school when cringe culture was at its peak and I was the social outcast Needless to say, I was dunked on daily by *everyone* and it legitimately ruined my life I'm STILL scared to be myself around others because of this shit
I feel your pain. I didn't go through middle or high school during it, but it definitely still happened then. I'm so sorry you went through this. If you're going to college soon, please be aware it gets a lot easier to breathe and be yourself when you're surrounded by other adults. You don't need to hide yourself anymore.
6:46 I might be biased considering all past work I’ve done with kids was with little ones aged 4-8, but I will never understand how anyone found that first kid to be cringe. I think it’s so adorable how excited he is to be at a convention for a thing he likes and even getting to ask a question. He must’ve left that day thinking it was the best day ever! Yes his question was absolute nonsense, but kids around that age especially ask/say nonsensical things all the time and you just have to let them roll with it. My personal way of handling them is just spew silly nonsense back at them and they’ll be satisfied.
I remember seeing someone tweet a kid’s among us video, and they talked about he was a cringe idiot that deserved to be bullied. But the kid actually had some really great editing. He even knew how to use keyframes. Some people are just so insecure.
As someone with autism, I agree. I feel like it does, majority of my interests as a kid (and now) was considered “cringe” (Mlp, Fnaf, etc). Sorry for bad grammar
It's sad. autistic people dwelve into those things because they feel more comfortable in those happier and less toxic communities, and yet they get called "pussies" or "fatherless" for it.
I don’t think that’s at all surprising. Of course the people who bully people for not fitting arbitrary social standards for what is “normal” would be fine with bullying people who are inherently socially awkward.
for Freddy. (I relate to this situation a lot, with wanting to sing a song for a talent show then immediately regretting it after stepping up to the mic and singing as fast as possible so that the self cringe and torture will stop!)
I think the “I’m not like other girls” trend is also like cringe culture. Oh my gosh, girls dressing up and being cute? Girls doing normal girl things? Cringe. Not me. I’m quirky. I’m special.
@Granny Jojo but why are women just cringe sometimes and not men? I’m not saying us women can’t be cringe because we can but men can also idk why you only decided to call women cringe sometimes.
@@emmahollow8898 that wasn't really my intention I was saying it really because like theres alot of girls that just act all rude and stuff when you try to talk to them. but its not just girls its boys to I mean take a look at david kun.
Liking it isn't the issue, it's how they express that liking, typically by being overbearing and awkward about it, which reminds people of what they did when _they_ were kids and the 3Am nightmares that that caused. In order to separate themselves from that general bad feeling, they shun it and shame people who behave that way.
I hate how cringe culture influenced me. It made me perceive things I would've liked when I was younger as "cringe". I missed out on a lot of neat stuff and I just blew it off because it was perceived as lame or something and it makes me feel bad sometimes. Thankfully I'm not like that anymore and enjoy the things I like and I'm glad cringe culture is dying. People should just let kids have fun.
Honestly I am someone who gets "hype fatigue" but I fully acknowledge that's what it is and never call it "cringe". I think in my case, something like the lego shorts guy makes me cringe specifically because he reminds me of me, and that's really the only reason I would call something cringey. It's secondhand embarrassment. But even then, it's not a word I really use and people need to calm down. FNAF being popular with kids is a little weird since it's a horror series about murder but hey, whatever. I was in the grocery store as a 31 year old with my Fnaf shirt and some little kid pointed at me and excitedly exclaimed I was wearinga Freddy shirt. And that doesn't bother me at all. It's cute.
Ironically I think tings like FNAF become popular with kids because they are so adult, and children wanna feel like "big boys". Which goes full circle when the child fanbase makes the thing with very mature themes gain the reputation of childish.
I have been looking so long for the phrase "hype fatigue" so I can explain it to people. Some things just get hyped to hell, and they just turn out to be ok
In 20q6 when i was 11 cringe culture was at its peak, and i was apart of it, later as I started leaving cringe culture, cringe culture never left me. Everytime i want to express myself my mind would be like "your acting cringe, stop it." I gave up my ambition for art at age 12 because i thought to myself "it looks bad, show this to anyone they'll cringe." And i gave up. This still affects me to this day whenever i try to do anything to express myself i immediately stop and delete it/rip it. Whenever i try to talk to make a connection with someone my mind immediately goes "stop this because they will cringe once they find out who you are" this comment right here is taking up all my mental energy because im trying to fight my thoughts. Fuck cringe culture. I abandoned all of my hobbies and ambitions to appease no one.
@@filmfortress6675 "Shitposting" is a fun example, because it exemplifies what's happening now with "cringe". Used to mean literally just a post that is shitty, now it's used in a positive way to say something online is funny
Whenever I see cringe stuff I'm normally cringing for the person, not at them. Because we've all been in embarrassing situations and that feeling for the situation they're in just brings you pain. I think whenever a game goes into cringe mode, it's normally because of oversaturation of the media that causes people to just despise it. It's like over played songs on the radio in 2005
Or most likely how disco ended in the beginning of the 80s when rock n roll lovers had enough with disco and wished to die off which they successfully did. (In this case, disco is still alive, it's not just as popular as it used to but it spawned other genres like House and Funk) It's no wonder why that people today, especially on the Internet, wished for something popular to die off for good. If they don't like it, then that's okay but getting rid of popular things is getting off the charts.
I genuinely enjoy Roblox, which I remember as being one of the most popular things to call cringe and hate on. Still kind of is, but amidst all the games that kids play I find a lot of genuinely fun and creative games that me and my friends all enjoy, and some of us are full blown adults.
Boblocc is poggirs and not cring!1!!! 😀😀 Tik tok obby song tik tok obby johnny johnny yes papa tik tok obby obby obby: 🙄 Natural Disaster Survival: 😎😎😎😎
We all must remember people that we have all been cringe in our lives, whether as children or adulthood, and it's not bad. Growing out of it, it just means you're growing as a human.
I started liking Friday Night Funkin ever since the game has a smaller fanbase. It’s honestly crazy to see just how many people hate the game just because it’s the norm. Personally I love the game and it’s modding community. The amount of talked I see from artists, animators, musicians, and programmers is phenomenal. But of course, a game is going to have weird people, and that’s all people associate with the game now. I’m just glad there are people who understand how stupid Cringe Culture can be.
I think it's one of those situations where the game is hated solely BECAUSE of the fanbase. That's how it happened for me. I used to like it until the fanbase became super vile, and people I used to be friends with used their love of the game to harass and bully people relentlessly (got away from them though, luckily)
