The Death of Marat (La Mort de Marat) is a neoclassical painting by Jacques-Louis David dating from 1793. It represents the death in 1793 of the French revolutionary leader Jean-Paul Marat, founder of the radical newspaper “The Friend of the People” and closely related to the Jacobin faction during the Reign of Terror, although he was never an undisputed member.
