She would say different things in different interviews, other times she acted surprised at the idea that it was suspected he was murdered, saying he wasn't in anyone's way and they were about to go to Japan for him to referee a fight.

I met Sonny a few months before he died. I was playing blackjack ($100. per hand) at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. It was around 3:00 am and I was the only player at the table. All of a sudden Sonny pulls out the chair next to me and sits down and smiles at me. I shook sonny's hand and continued to gamble. After a few winning hands, Sonny nudges me with his elbow and says "hey man how about you put me in the game" I just looked at him but didn't know what to say. Sonny got his face right into my face and said "put me in the game" his face changed and I got to see the look that turned other men into mush. I gave Sonny a few chips and as soon as he made a bet I got up and left, real fast.

How you had that kind of money in that era where money was worth a lot more than today would be the interesting story to tell (assuming everything you stated is true). I cannot imagine anyone strong enough to hold down Sonny Liston I giving him a shot in his arm that man could break bones in people's face with his hands.
Don't technically have to hold him down, if he's cornered by several guys with guns and they tell him to inject it or something happens to his wife he doesn't really have much of a choice.

When I was growing up, their was nothing like the heavyweight division in Boxing. Muhammad Ali I considered the greatest boxer I ever saw. I never saw Louis, Marciano, etc. Mayweather wasn't heavyweight. Sugar Ray Leanord, Hagler, Mayweather were great boxers. Ali, Forman. Frazier, Norton, Tyson, Holyfield etc. Ali went through troubled times. He was the greatest.

I honestly couldn't agree more with you, I truly believe no one has ever beat Liston fairly. Liston only lost fights when he was told to, Liston fought in a era when the mob had just as much control as the American government.

More than likely in the first Ali fight he was told to lose so he allowed himself to get hit.. how does a great fighter lose the way he did.. the great Liston jab and Ali hurt him not so..
And personally I no so do a lot off others. At that time!!! He sonny was way ahead mentally off that time. At least 10 years ahead. Mentally. He was sharp quick witty funny and he didn’t intimidate anyone. It’s just the way he looks. But the media have to write some Ba about us every time they get a chance too.

You have the Boogeyman of boxing hated by most around that time and no photographer no photo's no news? There was something to hide and the risk of going back to reveiew things would hurt? No nothing not even on Google images. 🤔 she definitely knew more than she lead on IMO. I think Sonny was dead b4 she left and they lied to throw people of with that newspaper and milk crap. Just to add credibility to a hatched scene created..and her phoning the Lawyer was her way of keeping her out of the mix and not telling it all. Big charles Spnny Liston was rumoured to be in his mid Forties when he gave Clay an opportunity to Fight for the heavyweight champian back in 1962....There was much speculation the Sonny Never went to school very much, and unfortunately was for the most part part ilterate....sonny was the # 20th child out of 22 siblings, and his Father was an extremely Harsh, angry & abusive man....mr. Liston treated Sonny terrible, and used Sonny as an animal thus, Reducing Sonny to essentially an animal for pulling the plow when their literal Mule dies!......Anyway, back to the original narative, Big Sonny may have been about 40 when he faught Clay( not trying to minimize Cassus's Clay's awsome tallent) so it is unclear how a much younger Sonny wouldve performed had he Fought a more even aponent,in terms of youthfuLness.....i believe Clay probably would have defeated Sonny Nonetheless, but wouldnt it have been intesting to watch a boxing match between these great pugilis when voth were kn their early twenties?.....im thinking that Sonny wouldve deopped Clay like Snoop would say, "drop him like its hot"?
Ali usually had respect for his opponents he used to put on a show to promote the fight he knew Sonny was dangerous and didn't underestimate Liston even saying later in his career Sonny Liston was a good fighter He went overboard with Joe Frazier but had alot of respect for Joe as far as Frazier he built a hatred for Ali but still knew Ali was a great fighter The only time I ever seen Ali show true hatred towards a fighter was Earnie Terrell who kept taunting Ali by calling him Cassuis Clay Ali punished him Ali himself said after his career he never truly thought he was the greatest he used to like to build the fight up and then he praised Joe Frazier saying nobody's that great
He most likely had enemies it wasn't alot easier back then to get away with murder. Pretty sad. He was mean so it's no surprise that people didn't like him

I think the muslim brotherhood paid the mob for throwing the fight,and also the mob did huge from gambling, winning from both sides.And in the second was maybe something about regarding Sonny to be KO in the first round.
