A quick search of "doom slayer ass out" provides not only the image in question, but several more images of the Doom Slayer with the finest assless chap power armor ever seen!
My favorite genestealer factoid is that they can infect practically anything, including Orks, but the conflict of the genestealer instinct to say hidden vs the Orky instinct to fight, and the diversion of their warp skills from the Ork hive mind to the Hive Mind, leads to o.g Orks thinking that something's off, and then getting either krumped or shunted to the side of a Waag
Lead, metallic lead doesn't taste like much. It's lightly harder than chewing gum. The metal itself is also non reactive, so there's no real danger in chewing it unless there's lead powder on it, or you're drinking reactive foods. That would cause sweet flavors to become more detectable. Don't do it though. Don't put stuff in your mouth unless you know it's a good idea.
I love the genestealer cult. The quote “a plan a generation in the making” works so well with the meme “they’re in the walls.” Grandpa designed the plans for the building which include secret tunnels when the time is right, dad build the building and and the secret tunnels, and I am the one born at the right time to use these tunnels to out flame the enemy and cut off the retreat.
"You get the sudden urge to just... HAVE KIDS" I like to think at least one Genestealer absolutely failed in their mission because they got a dude who just had no game (me)
Genestealers are literal rapists they do not care about consent they are counting on you not having consent why would else would they wait to jump someone that is alone in a dark alley
In a size based royal family, succession is determined by the current monarch holding the crown over their head while the prospective heirs try to jump up and grab it.
Wearing the jeans is a bait!!! They'll steal your jeans while they're on you and then you'll just be naked, which inadvertently makes you Slaanesh bait!!
Great video! Couple of clarifications: Nids and stealer behavior is not as ridged and formulaic as people make it out to be. The cultists are OFTEN digested at the end, but particularly effective cults or leaders will be preserved to seed new cults on other worlds, which is a very mixed bag of emotions for them, because they've been given a divine mission from their gods directly... which means they don't get to join them in "heaven" yet. by the same token, the whole snapping people out of it before they hit the acid is a different experience for different people. The hive mind doesn't enjoy the sensation of digesting itself, so it cuts the link to prevent that. If you're a relatively new member of the cult, it's hella traumatic. If you've been drinking the kool-aid for a while, you might not care depending on how much you were told beforehand. Sometimes, if the patriarch is in full psychic-offensive mode, a person can get stung by a purestrain genestealer and struggle to maintain their free will 30 seconds later. If the patriarch is weak or missing, even deeply indoctrinated gen 4 and 5 might feel doubt or confusion at the idea of tyrranids arriving. (Highly recommend "The Day of Ascension" Since it's one of the only books written from a GSC perspective and really SHOWS you how and why they think the way they do. It's a really, really good book.)
Maybe the "reveal what's behind the curtains" move is the hive mind saying "You're already in the hole, there's no way you can escape. Now I no longer need to spend psychic resources to convince you that this is a good thing", and the rational human mind (and the animal mind too I guess) realizes all at once: this is not what I thought it was.
Pretty sure that's basically it yeah, once your world is too crippled to effectively fight back they release the control because why bother keeping it up. I think it also sometimes happens part way through the invasion or shortly after you've helped them kill most of the unconverted guardsmen, so you're just left standing there, in horrific despair, as you see the swarms finishing the last defenders off and the people being thrown into the digestion pits, knowing you did this and now you're next.
Yeah I left a comment saying basically the same. Its not about cruelty its just about freeing up resources because controlling you for the last few seconds is a waste of energy. The horrible despair you feel is 1000% incidental
To Isyander: when Tigurius peeked into the hive mind, he felt the hatred directed towards him and probably the rest of humanity. The cruelty of the tyranids could be explained by that but I also find it overkill and I do like the idea of the Rapture
Maybe it's more a question of creeping the mind control and feel the pain of dying of millions as the half mind or let the control go befor they fall in the passed and don't feel the pain as the half mind. Maybe it's a form of self protection.
Chaos is a problem, but genestealers are a whole other kettle of fish. They are like a mould that’s hard to spot until it’s too late. And on top of that, the giant nest of bugs over there happen to find that mould extremely tasty.
It's easy to have a bunch of jeans behind you but it was a missed opportunity to not have the jeans there and have them progressively disappearing throughout he video
8:10 From the Cain Novels, when he was with the Reclaimers, it was mainly repeated attacks to weaken the ceramite, or specifically targeting the joints and helmets. Though their claws *are* sharp enough to leave rents in ceramite with normal swipes!
Yeah, but I feel like an important addition to that is that pure strain genestealers in general are also like terrifyingly strong per dark heresy they have a strength of 55, which puts them basically on par with unarmored space marines. So they’re more than capable of just ridiculous feats of strength if they really want to do them.
The Imperium has a lot harder time making lasguns than they do making the hands to hold the lasguns. One of those needs a forgeworld, and the other can be made on literally any world.
I reaaaaaly wanna see Rogue Genestealers fighting against the Tyranids. Like the Scythes of the Emperor who were infected but uses librarian hoods to supress the Broodmind and uses their innate knowledge of the Tyrranids to fight against them with the same efficiency that the Grey Knights fight daemons
Since they brought up the chestburster scene from Alien, here's a fun fact: not a single actor/actress in that scene knew that that was going to happen other than John Hurt so those reactions were all genuine reactions by them.
If I remember the behind-the-scenes commentary, the other actors including Sigorny were told that it was a scene with them eating around the table which didn't set off any alarm bells cause if I recall the movie had other slow-paced scenes...but then John's character starts going haywire. The reaction of one of them getting splashed by the blood is 100% genuine cause she did NOT see it coming.
my understanding of the acid dissolving thing wasn't that the nids were like, maliciously pulling the blindfold from the genestealer's eyes, but more that 'well we don't need this one anymore, unplug the cable" and the disconnecting from the hivemind is what causes them to have that revelation. That being said I agree that it's a bit much....plus I find the idea that these cultists would just accept their fates with wide-mouthed grins even scarier? who needs a scream of pain, blissful laughter is even more terrifying
To me the probably scariest thing would be a middleground. Instead of entierly revealing their plan, letting people understand how fooled they’ve been it’d be pretty interesting if the fact that they’re jumping into the pits is mostly manipulation, and a slight bit of psychic powers, not cause it’s needed, but just cause it makes the process go a bit smoother. So instead of the “oh god what have I done” when they release you from that grasp. it’s just, a slight, slight doubt as you fall into the pit. You’re still fully convinced that this is the rapture, that this is salvation and what you’re doing is entirely right, but as you fall and the tiny amount of psychic power they use to get absolute control over you is released and you just feel the slightest bit of doubt. Even without that control you’d most likely jump, but you wouldn’t do it without hesitation.
Hey what a coincidence, you guys put out a genestealer cult video after I recently done a genestealer cult army but as skaven (cheesestealer cult). A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
cheese stealers are fun. what would you think of a backyard mechanicum? Perhaps one that is fond of cheese, crackers, an animal companion, and often has the wrong trousers.
Right? That's kinda like how I feel. Both Big E and The Silent King got together in the warp, like. "We need help." Don't believe me!? Neuron souls went _somewhere_ didn't they!?
"Day of ascension" on audible does answer the question about genestealers sending out infected people for the tithe. If I remember right, they need a magus or similar leader to get them to activate
1:13:22 You forget, Isyander, that being messily torn apart by Tyranids and having your soul snuffed out by the Hive Mind's power isn't even close to the worst potential fate in 40K. The Genestealer Cults *do* have a win condition, and it's called 'never having to worry about getting used as a tormented instrument in Slaanesh's Orchestra of Eternal Misery and Pain (The Bad Kind) or something like that'. Heck, the Cult of the Rusted Claw basically uses that as its recruitment pitch!
7:53 Hi boys, I GM a Dark Heresy game for some friends. They were getting great at combat and a little cocky. The main soldier was hard to hurt with his Tempestus DR6 carapace armour. And then they faced their first genestealer … (technically they were chased by one in their very first “prologue” adventure, and I had to set it up to ensure they actually escaped. They made friends with a guy who was trying to recruit them into his GS cult). NOW THEY HAVE LEARNED FEAR! Purestrain stealer claws have an armour piercing value of 12! They have four arms… they can go all out on you and inflict something like 48 points of damage in a game where a tough veteran guardsman might have 13 Hit Points. Even an Astartes might have 20 HP, and THAT is how a genestealer can literally cleave a marine in half! Their claws are like meltaguns! It was a fun fight 😂
@@magosofmars8410 Well, I know your GM was probably enjoying himself 😀 They are definitely one of the most fun things to control and roll dice for. And they can squeeze through holes no one expects, which also terrifies players 😂
The Nids have crashed hard on Ultramar twice, caused tons of death and destruction, but the wave broke upon the walls of their Empire and the lake was still once again.
What if the reason the hivemind cuts you off before you die is to stop you from joining it. Imagine the hivemind having to think with the thoughts of countless prey screaming rapturously in its ears. It’s presence in the warp could go from braying sheep to the organic singularity real fast if that was the case.
I believe the reason that the "veil" is lifted right before the cultists die is because through all of the generations, every spawn is linked to the Patriarch's version of the hive mind and when the main hive fleet arrives, it reabsorbs all of them into the greater hive mind except the hybrid cultists, who are left with the thoughts and memories of what they have done.
Gene cult was always like 1 of my fav armies but now I think they are THE fav of mine lol love watching these guys they are so much fun to watch. Cause like I love 40k lore and want to learn more about it and they are really good at helping me with that keep up the awesome work Isyander and Koda.
Amazing content my guys. You two really do an amazing job in bringing attention to details that a lot of the WH40k fan base doesn't really think about (like the secret Genestealer empires) and how they spread from planet to planet using medicine, food, and basic travel (I know it's just a theory, but it's now canon in my head). Awesome job, lots of love ❤.
11:20 There’s a theory he can see more than he lets on. He trolls people with his ability to see/not see. Sometimes he seems to be STRONGLY hinting about it…
Hey, I absolutely love yalls channel and the really fun lore videos. But it would also be fun to see yall do more hobby stuff, like seeing yall painting or go over your armies
I really love this episode not just because of the great 40k content but to see koda catching up with the lore and really enjoying it makes me proud for some reason.
It's that BBC radio segment where the dance music pauses "we regret to inform you the royal prince has suddenly gown several centimeters" music resumes
They steal jeans!!! -Ordo Xenos, probably Edit: after rewatching and thinking, the conspiracy theory works to a point. Space Marine Apothecaries would notice during testing that some new recruits are part xeno, not abhuman, not normal human. This would lead to the genestealers getting found after the chapter back tracked where these impure recruits came from and informing the Ordo Xenos
Lead (acetate?) used to be use as a sweetener in wine during the Roman Empire iirc. Cups were often times made of lead or a lead alloy to impart that sweetness passively
@@pantasticlaire3966 I have read that the Romans used to think that amethyst would help prevent the spirit poisoning from their lead acetate sweetened wine.
Yeah, trying to hug it! You just don't understand. Hive Mind is love. Be eaten, become love. You don't _die_ you join the love! That sweet, chitinous love!
@@daisyjoy242 Imagine if something hypothetically wiped out the UK except for the Queen, so now you have this continent-sized old woman going Godzilla on everyone else.
"average human life... 10 cent... TENCENTS" One of these days Koda isn't just going to fly to close to the sun, he's going to be yeeted into the sun...
No, it gets worse. The Tyranids show you the 'how' not out of malice, but out of a cold logic. A last effort to show you they have every intent on using your biomass to good effect. To them it's just the way of life. Showing it to you is a mercy. A sign of respect. To show you your future as a new part of the great cycle maw of the galaxy. UNTIL ALL BECOME ONE!
There is lore about genestealer cults running entire lines of rouge traders. And a dope book about it. Also the big blue man decided mandatory genetic testing at every port and all comanders done by the mechanicus
1:10:00 i think one of the instances of genestealer cultists losing their divine sight for tyranids was when they literally saw them as like- the holy golden emperor and such. I'm with you on not remembering where i heard it from, but they thought they were walking up to the emperor and his sons, in all their shiny glory, only to: *snap* ~ that's a mob of space monsters eating you and your family. Oops. Now you're dead.
GENESTEALERS ARE HERE! The thirteenth poll is only a formality, the Despoiler will strike!!! And Trazyn has to throw a ringing bell in the Webway and let the Eldar deal with it. EDIT: Someone took my my questions and ran with it!!!! Dude, that's amazing!!!
Lead has a sweet taste. Leaded paint and glass created problems where small children would lick walls and windows and eat paint chips, eventually getting brain damage. Thus the term window licker.
My favorite cult concept is the cult of the four armed emperor. The best workers a planetary governor could ever ask for! So they do ask for them and these guys get exported all over the imperium to spread how they do such great work. 1:06:45 so that is actually the standard. Everyone that survives the plant getting taken over by the tyranids will be mind controlled into wntered the acid pits. And in a grim dark twist the hive mind retreats from the cultist consciousness as they are falling towards that acid allows them to contemplate everything they did for the nids before the end.
"Praise be, the Four Armed Emperor! His many hugging arms embrace and bless! How can I, a mere finger of an arm, serve thee." Yeah, I'm all over that canon. Lmao
In their patreon episode of Genestealers, I believe they mentioned the Scythes of the Emperor - who have the Genestealer infection, but they're aware of it and make attempts to keep it under check.
Hey, weird theory: -Horus is not as dead as we thought, though still pretty dead. -Before he died, Horus realized the horror of what he did, and regretted. -He was killed by big E. -Big E is turning into a god that can resurrect people. -Gods need avatars. -So what if Big E resurrects Horus, since he knows where all the bits are and can put them back together, and has him be his Avatar to redeem himself. Evens things out, and has an interesting dynamic where THE BIGGEST TRAITOR is now having to redeem himself and fight along side the people he betrayed.
In regards to the royalty and heights joke I simply have one thing to say: Big Elizabeth… BIG E! It all makes sense, everything’s connected! Break out the red string and the corkboard boys!
Gene stealers are cool and terrifying, the kind of creatures that always appeared in the monster movies I watched as a kid (it was a weird childhood I know). Thanks guys, that was amazing!👏👏👏
Love the video but I gotta say, the genestealers getting sipped up in a bendy straw IS the win condition. They've added new genetic material and biomass to the overall fleet to adapt to the next world and or war. Love you guys, keep it up.
I had just started getting into 40k lore a bit before i found this channel and I've been fascinated by gene stealers abd wanted to know more, but the deeper I get into this video, the less and less I want to know about them 🥶
Isyander you'd bugger! That whole bit about them infiltrating the guard and the food supply may have given them(GW) that exact idea now!! ...gods I love you two
So, to sum up what I'm hearing with an analogy: Gen 1 - the seed is planted in the garden Gen 2 - the seed grows into a bush with shallow roots Gen 3 - the bush develops a deep root system Gen 4 - the plant begins choking out every other plant in the garden Gen 5 - the plant's offshoots have replaced every plant in the garden Gen 6 - the entire plant flowers and fruits at once
Haven't watched a vid in a while, but I listen often on my hour commute. First thought about the discussion about lighting and I laughed as Koda looks like Casper and Iysander is lit perfectly Edit: had the names switched around lol 27:56 27:57
