It was a treacherous day with wind whipped around at 40 mph. After trying two other canyons that morning I decided that Decker was my best shot at a filmed descent in the area. I was battered from all directions by nasty gusts and dodged the debris that came with them. In the end I came up just short with only the final two hairpins to go. The tarmac was cold and a slick spot got my back tire to go. Riding too hard for the conditions? Sure. Could I have made it around that corner with a little more luck? Sure, I did 15 minutes earlier.
I left in the swearing and whining after the crash so it's all there to see, the wins and the losses. Shortly after the video cuts, Rafael spotted a crack in my seatstay. I was ready to give it another go. That would have ended badly. Thanks Raf!
