Herbert Lom was a GREAT actor, despite becoming famous mainly from the Pink Panther series. I remember him in Kubrick's "Spartacus" and Dassin's "Night and the City"!

Poor, poor Dreyfus. At first I felt so bad for him. But then... I felt so really, _really_ bad for him.

Even in death, Inspector Clouseau keeps drives Dreyfus insane! Hahahahaha

Got to hand it to Dreyfus he was so angry at Clouseau he came back after a direct hit of a doomsday machine

Every time Dreyfus saw/mentioned Clouseau, he has a mental breakdown.

The pinnacle of slap-stick and comic brilliance in its time. Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom, a partnership made in Heaven ( or Hell). I cannot but cry tears of laughter at the impossible antics of Clouseau and the tortured nightmare of Inspector Dreyfus.

I don’t know how this ended up on my feed, but it reminds me what a great foil Herbert Lom was for Peter Sellers, and how his talent was overlooked because of Sellers’ brilliance. No one could play this part better.

Herbert Lom was magnificent as Chief Inspector Dreyfus! However, I did not like the Trail of the Pink Panther. It just wasn't the same without Peter Sellers - no one else could play Clouseau!

Blake Edwards did this editing trick that always made Dreyfus’s falls so much funnier. Edwards would cut to the fall when Dreyfus was already halfway down. I don’t know why but that made the falls even funnier.

I enjoy Herbert Lom as much as Peter Sellers.

He also played many years later when Peter Sellers was no more, in the movie "The son of the Pink Panther. He also played in the sixties, in german western movies from Karl May. Great Drama Player and Comic player. He was a GREAT MAN!

This video is a compendium of the best comic acting and screenplay writing in the world --- not just Herbert Lom and Peter Sellars, but everybody on the screen! Few people today know that Herbert Lom was for decades a very hard-working and reliable character actor who specialized in different kinds of villains. Then suddenly he became a comedy super-star because of the Pink Panther series. The mere fact that he was in the movie at all was funny to us then. He showed the way for Leslie Nielson, who went from stiff-in-a-suit in boring movies to a star of classic American slapstick. Thanks for putting this together for us. I wonder if the younger generation can appreciate this as much as we do.

Thankyou Herbert Lom , Everything played straight making it even funnier. I always loved what Mr. Lom did and it would have been fascinating to see him play the King on stage in The King and I in 1953 . He is such an intense actor.

The moment I like best is the "apologizing" gesture of Dreyfus towards the doctor who see him running after Clouseau with an arrow stuck to his forehead. As if saying: "What can I do? Long treatment wasted... I'm crazy again!"

Having to play it straight and so regrettably pigeon holed the Panther films were tailored to his silky talents.

When Peter Sellers became Inspector Clouseau the more he became an idiot the funnier he became. No one could do what he did.

At 16:46 in this compilation, something has been removed; in the film, a couple of people see Clouseau and Dreyfus and become aghast because it looks like the two men are having sex. Don't understand how this could've been left out, because it's hilarious. I finished watching this highlight reel but during the rest of it I kept wondering if something _else_ was going to be cut. Leaves a crummy feeling. Annoying, really.

I cracked up once under similar circumstances and in the end I just collapsed in a heap laughing my head off for about 4 hours! Best 4 hours I ever had! Then I pulled myself together, bought myself a ham sandwich and shoved it in my ears! I was all right then.
