In 2009 a young man named Jason Genova shared his dream of being a professional bodybuilder with the world. Filmed by him a crew of his highschool friends and uploaded to youtube, these videos would become popular on bodybuilding on websites and forums. However, few could predict the strange and convoluted world that would arise from such humble beginnings. Over time the curious onlookers became a cult following dedicated to witnessing Jason's journey. Despite failing to garner much wide spread notoriety, Jason Genova would become one of the most infamous and polarizing figures in the bodybuilding community. In this series we explore his rise, demise and uncertain future.

I keep coming back to this series. It’s such incredible storytelling. I’m watching a car crash in slowmotion and I can’t look away. The psychology of the Iron Extortionist is fascinating in its own right, but the community is even more compelling. Not only the Misfits, but the Piss-troopers as well. Unlike the homeless cats, they have been milking the LOL-cow from the beginning. However, unlike the staff at PF Chang’s, they do not detest their Sith Lord. They truly love to swim in the warm piss waters of Lake Cresva. There is an infantile quality to Jason, and because of it one will always be torn between sympathy, hilarity and disgust.
