Make sure to click the bell button guys! It will help you get notified whenever we publish a new street food tour like this! I hope you enjoy the video! Please watch until the end, there are some INCREDIBLE street foods from Kaifeng in this video!
I love how much you enjoy the food, but also how you put China in such a great light. We read and hear so much about the country from outside, it's great to see an inside view, regular nice people living a regular nice life. Well done. You're an excellent ambassador for the country.
there are thousands and thousands of foreign professional including Americans who work in china. what do you mean an inside view? this isn't north Korea. it's like saying thank you for showing an inside view of UK . are you fucking ignorant or just uneducated?
@@KStixx it's very common for Chinese people to give free food to foreigners. We consider foreigners guests, so sometimes we don't charge for the food.
@@KStixx That's one way of looking at it, but I think that likely when he pays there is no need for him to show that part on camera, whereas they put this clip in to show the generosity of the people. So maybe it's not setup :).
Krishna Stixx If this video was shot in mega cities like Beijing or Shanghai, food for free probably is fake or some kind of marketing strategy. But in a place like Kaifeng, I believe Boss Ma truly wanted to offer him a free meal.
his pronunciation is not the best but he speaks it well and it's fully understandable, the locals are usually impressed when he drops a less-common word or like phrases they expect native speakers to know 😂
It seems not many foreigners realize that this has more to do with Chinese people's admiration of their own language and cultural roots which they perceive to be as too immense for any non-Chinese person to understand fully.
@@bobbelcher678 KaiFeng is a historical city and was the capital of China in 1000 years ago.but now it is a small city.Whose people has the rural Chinese generosity to treat foreigner with friendly ways.
Stuff that gets a seven or eight here might be the best thing I ever tried HERE. Wouldn't be available at all, generally speaking. Also Trevor doesn't seem to like staple foods or beverages much, he has his own take on things.
Chinese: "don't worry it's free" Pakistan: Finally a worthy opponent our battle will be legendary. Also I would love to visit China one day love from Pakistan 🇵🇰🇨🇳
@@WandererBrother No we have not. I didn't know that Hong Kong was Muslim. Last time I checked they were non- muslims. We locked up Hong Longers not muslims you liar.
Kaifeng is such a historic city....very beautiful. I was there many years ago. There are actually Chinese Jews that live there....they have their own museum as well. Great looking food. Thanks for sharing.
At 2:20,Actually,the "粉条(Fen tiao,A kind of Chinese Vermicellii)" means "sweet potato noodles" instead of Trevor' said "rice noodles" in "Hu la tang" recipe.
Shifu Wei: How do you like your noodles Mr. Trevor? Trevor: hhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmm......hhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Yeah, that's kind of special food in northern China. Kaifeng is famous for lamb/beef food. Winter melon + ribs (pork) is a more typical combination in the whole China.
I absolutely love when you visit other countries, but my favourite videos are the Chinese ones, your ability to communicate makes it all the more special. Thank you.
I love your casual style breaking into the establishment so friendly And the Chinese kindness responded and cooperative I just Love it 🥰 And then you (our guy) describing flavors and textures just amazing 😉 Greetings from 🛶💎Burano 💎🛶 ✌️🤠👍
Asad indian food is good, I tried it but it doesn’t come close 2 Taiwanese & Chinese food. U should try Taiwanese & Chinese food before u talk. I’m an adventurous eater so I tried many country’s cuisine.
bascially the Indian people charge too much price for the foreigners tbh but some of the Chinese people's free for the foreigners no alienated and subordination by the way
Not necessarily just for foreigners, part of it is the hospitality, and the other is because he is a food critic. Remember, Chinese people are very practical. VERY VERY 务实
That fatty beef meatball soup looks so good! I love how this episode shows that there are a lot of halal foods in China. Thank you Trevor for introducing Kaifeng to us. Greetings from Jakarta.
Trevor is also Canadian, who are generally VERY well received in China. Too bad here in Canada enough people think of Chinese as power-hungry land grabbers
I'm actually crying inside, this is the closest a food vlogger's ever been to my city. 😳 (I'm from the neighbouring city, the capital of that province)
Alyss in wonderland, Is OK to be vegetarian but the rules is they for you to ban, now and then you can eat meat. Is what we called "fine balance diet", I myself love eating meat but now and then I ban the rules and eat vegetables lol 😁😁😁
I don’t eat meat because I don’t want to. It may be tasty but I’m not comfortable with eating it and it makes me feel bad so I choose not to. Other people do and that’s ok. There are plenty of foods just as tasty that don’t contain meat, and I’m sure I can find some vegetable dumplings that are just as nice somewhere ☺️
They also come in vegetarian stuffings. 韭菜鸡蛋 is the most famous one. If you don't eat diary, then 面丁小白菜 is also a good choice. These are common stuffings that you can find in almost all variations of dumplings.
I hope I will be able to travel like u in the future to visit many beautiful countries and eat many delicious food in the future. Saving money bit by bit every day.
4:58 this not about china my friend, this is the soul of " Islam " it gave with smile and doesn't take anything and we call it (Honoring the guest) .. thank you for your good manners ❤️
My grandma was born in Kaifeng. She then moved to the Yangtze delta area but still cook the traditional Kaifeng food at home. Love that food as they are deep in my mind.
In the world, where ever you go Muslim people are the best in hospitality. Cause in Islam being hospitable is one of the important things to whoever you are. Isn't that so great?
DUDE, the last Rou Jia Mo is definitely more than 1RMB! It's usually 5-10RMB but I think they charged you only 1 RMB as a gesture because they are such friendly people.
That awkward moment when he goes “mmmmmmmm” And turns to look for someone but everyone is too busy enjoying their food. Let them eat in peace man. 😅😅 no one bothers you.
It brings me to tears to see the hospitality of the common Chinese people and how well foreigners are treated in China. The fact that so many of the vendors refused to take your money. Those people work incredibly hard and that is their livelihood. This is no higher form of respect I could think of that they could’ve paid to someone visiting their country. In contrast to how Chinese people are being portrayed now in MSM and smeared with endless disgusting lies backed by political agendas. It’s just heartbreaking.
I think that of people everywhere. As an American citizen who lived in Afghanistan back in the early 2000's, realized the people(not government or ruling class), are very accommodating.
In a lot of cultures it's actually quite rude to insist on paying for something you've been offered for free. Don't know if that's the case in Canada (or in China) but I figured I'd put it out there.
Don't you feel remorse for your crimes against these innocent creatures? Don't you see that they love life like you and don't want to die? Don't you see how much they are afraid of dying and scream out of fear? Do you want someone to treat you and your family or loved ones like this? If you have an iota of compassion and conscience, stop this dirty work. (Eating meat is a crime
Henan has many old cities, such as Kaifeng, Luoyang, Xinzheng, Xuchang, where the city development is limited, because those cities have more than three thousand years of history, the underground of those cities is buried with the ruins of the ancient citys, again and again, There are countless antiques underground, any underground excavations in those cities will need to be applied to the government. Those cultural relics can't be destroyed.
Trevor, I gotta hear this. How does Trevor James translate to "Chang-le" Is that a stage name or did you just made it up on the fly while talking to Mr Ma?
It's his Chinese name, not a translation of his English name.Just like a Chinese may have a English name like 'Peter' or 'James' which has nothing to do with his Chinese name.
