We've been prepping this for a while! Our awesome friends at Audient have sent the new iD4 MK II & iD14 MK II for us to give it the Compass Box treatment.
Audient has always been synonymous with top-tier audio interfaces with their console-derived micpres, ADDA converters, and build quality. We go through a little bit about what makes Audient special, seeing what comes in both the boxes, going through some tech specs you might not see in other videos.
Testing the micpres on vocal, acoustic and electric guitar, finishing it off with a small jazz jam as well. We also pit the MK II against the older Audient iD14 MK I to see how much of a difference is there really?

Great review (I'd even say the best on youtube)! I love the JFET line input, sounds better with amp sims than any other interface and I watched a lot of reviews. The mic preamps sound nice as well. Where can I find the link to that article about the 96Khz sample rate?

Nice review guys. I want to know the stability of drivers on Windows and customer service in India as there are lot of people complaining for that. Thinking of getting id14, would be an upgrade over my Behringer UMC22. Thanks!

@@CompassBoxStudio That’s good news. Does id4 also getting regular updates? I mean it’s their base model so maybe not cared much in terms of updates.

@@CompassBoxStudio Thanks a lot..and anytime.. you have one of the most intuitive videos and I was looking for a video like this... And yea I know about the acoustics.. I just wanted to be sure that the pres and ADC where good enough to make professional radio mixes.. I was split between having the antelope audio zen go or audient 1d14 mk2 which is $200 less and I need the money.. but thanks to you I'm sure I won't regret picking audient 1d14 mk2.. it's strictly for vocals btw.. thanks a lot, I really appreciate it 🙏

you would have used the condenser microphone on the voice .. the voice was lost with the dynamic microphone .. I would have loved to hear it like this.. Thank you for your work .. very dynamic and I will buy an id4

Any chance you can link the isolation pad you used for this review? I have an iD4 and would love to raise it up a little like that.

Amazing video! Thanks. A question about using the iD4 mk2 to record a stereo output of a keyboard. Would it sound off and weird as one input is a Line, while the other is a JFET instrument input? Also just to be sure, does the iD4 record two separate tracks with the instrument and the microphone input? (ie voice and guitar recorded separately?)

@@CompassBoxStudio Thank you. I ended up buying one. :-). One improvement the makers should consider is having a real OFF switch. Power On/Off is very useful.

can anyone answer this problem i have with the Audient ID14 MKII Audio Interface ? I find that the gain on the microphone is about a quarter of what I get on my previous interface. I have to have the mic full volume to just about be heard. I've tried it on 2 different computers with 2 different microphones and is the same. I am using good quality lavalier Tram mic. I spoke to audient about this and they said that the unit was faulty and to send it back. So I did that I've got a new unit and have exactly the same problem, there is nearly no gain/volume on the microphone. Any ideas any solutions any comparisons I would love to know about. If it is true this is a huge and stupid drawback to this unit. The other interface I have which I get plenty of volume on the Mic is a Rubix 22.

Which is that one knob extra in iD4? Why does iD14 miss that knob?

1. Id14 mk2 compatible with iPads?. 2. Can we custimerize d id button in id4 jus like id14?. 3. Is d volume knob in id4 is same as id14 or is it comparatively less sensitive?.
