It's funny because friendly fire WAS off but the chonky boy deals damage to team anyway, same thing with rocks hitting team regardless. Friendly fire just shuts off spear damage.
@@fenrir514 pretty sure the mods that Downpour used for inspiration aren’t deprecated despite the DLC being out. You and your friends can still play together for free (assuming you all already own the game).
I heard a theory about the gourmand that it is actually pregnant Because apparently beating the gourmand run unlocks slugpups And that kinda implies that it was not fat but was carrying their unborn young
I'd love to see some more co-op, this is so fun lol Tan: Parent and guardian Red: Occasionally stubborn or clueless weapon hoarder Blue: Struggles but doing alright at learning not only the game but their special abilities Purple: Precious baby, protect them
I think when it comes to just movement feeling good for a beginner, rivulet's movement would have probably been a better way to ease new players in. While Artificer is fun, the double jump is more complicated to get a grasp of than "stats more."
I totally agree, I unfortunately don't have rivulet unlocked yet though as I haven't completed gourmand or artificer playthrough yet. Also I must say Aaron did pretty well with Arti despite being brand new.
@@AliasGaming0 I suppose part of that might be because it was the only movement explained heheh. The main reason I thought it might be confusing is because it uses the grab button, which probably added to the grabbing each other shenanigans.
@@GIRGHGH still nice to have someone point it out tho, I did not know at first and seeing how I will never finish even one campaign but want to play with the dlc, that was very much appreciated
I've been trying to get a group of friends like this to play RW with me but everyone got so turned away from the game. I'm glad it's gaining popularity after so long of being a hidden gem
@@samkong7026 yeah, I imagine it's mostly caused by the sheer hostility the environment has towards the player, especially when you're new. I think this game would be **significantly** more popular if more people push through and actually got the hang of the game so they could start truly enjoying it, but I also can not blame people at all for being super put off by the experience you get when you play it for the first time and get shredded by just about everything while knowing just about nothing.
I started playing recently i couldn't get much playtime in since i got strict parents that only allow me to use the pc on weekends but its soo fun, i did get discouraged at times but the game is just so beautiful and complicated to an interesting level i couldn't stop playing :D
I will say, I do personally welcome the chaotic energy of the chonkmeister being able to crush their friends, but it definitely seems they should dial it back a little. Like, it should at least require some velocity build up, like dropping from a reasonably high platform or something. Just my thought.
I totally agree, it definitely is a little extreme as it is, hopefully there will be the ability to disable that friendly damage in the future, more multiplayer options would be sweet.
@@AliasGaming0 not sure if this has been resolved, but turning off spear damage does stop gourmand from killing other players, rocks will still hit though
I thought the Saint and the Spearmaster would have made for a great combo. Oh I just we could stack 3 slugcats. Imagine Saint and Spearmaster on Rivulet's back.
I've only ever played Rain World with 1 friend. Being the caretaker of 3 newbies in this game of all things must be hilarious and infuriating. Props to you for managing to do this lol
It's such a blast, I have infinite patience for this sort of situation but honestly this is nothing compared to back when I used to play league with these guys haha.
You are one of the best multiplayer “parents” I have ever seen. Not revealing too much or forcing progression, just letting their exploration unfold naturally and occasionally helping explain game mechanics.
@@mildlymarvelous I have a part two that has been sitting around for a while sadly but it is a big edit to get it the way I want it! I might have to make some concessions on my big editor dreams just to get it out for folks.
I love the fact that you only got to industrial yet you managed to have so much, i just cant stop imaganing how goofy it will be when you get to 5p/lttm
3:10 “Im playing Gourmand, which means I’m a fat *QUACK”* 7:07 if you listen carefully, you can hear sped up laughter. I found that way more funny than it should have been XD
I love how coexistence with other slugs via Jolly co-op is such aggressive and accidental fatshaming toward Gourmond. Lol. Him just existing and moving like other slugs is a hazard to everyone and everything around him. He is a hefty chonk.
I wish I knew, it seems like a few people are having struggles. It just worked for me and my group but there are some remote play settings that might be worth tinkering with. Also make sure whoever is hosting isn't also streaming or anything like that. Their internet needs to be pristine.
@@AliasGaming0 Oh, i was referring to the guy above you, my bad. But tf2 is in a pretty good state rn, so it's a great moment just in case you want to play again, the bots aren't nearly as prominent as they were before (there were a lot of bots cheating in casual matches). Btw good video, I'll check out the rest of your channel.
I can't even express the amount of emotion this video gave me, one moment it's fucking hilarious, the next I start panicking. I've gotta figure out how to get my friends to play with me :D
I’ve seen in other comments that you should try rivulet, but I feel like spearmaster would be great for this too, considering the spear related arguments that were going on (you can get riv and spearmaster without beating the gourmand or arty campaign using the cheats option on the more slugcats mod, so that’s always an option) Also PLEASE make this a series, it’s amazing
@@AliasGaming0 I found it so cool to see some actual multi-player madness that it would be awesome to just see more of you guys having a blast. I myself am still trying to convince my brother to play it with me
1:47 There is no word to describe what happened. 3:25 I'm sure this was on purpose. 8:03 Rain World moment: goofy edition 8:14 *Game's story summary:* "Explore a broken world in a search for your lost companion kidnapped by the evil green lizard." 8:41 That's all Folks! 9:36 This is gonna become a recurrent gag. And it's never gonna get old. 11:05 "Stop being fat!" *Htwo - 2023* 13:02 The equivalent of your mother coming in and seizing your toy. 20:10 . . . 20:35 "That child out there has seen to much, we need to do something about it." *AliasGaming - 2023* 20:37 **WHEEZE** 25:02 I will remember this sentence for later. 28:20 Progress! X) 31:20 **whistle innocently while gazing on the side** 39:29 RAIN IS COMING! 45:43 I actually forgot you guys were playing with artificers since the beginning since I didn't seen any explosion beside the rocket jumps. 53:34 God, now I'm thinking about how it would be like to bring vultures into the mix. 1:00:30 Uh? Now I'm confused. 1:04:16 Gosh darn it! That moment made me lose my breath. 1:06:12 One of them is going to lineage, and it's going to be EPIC comotion. 1:10:35 He is the little brother. The one that we love cause he's cute. 1:17:00 I have a bad premonition. 1:19:55 Welcome to level 2! 1:19:59 Predicted it! 1:24:52 VULTURE! 1:25:35 You guys did great on this escape. 1:28:53: Hunter feels like the clumsly one of the band. Not the little brother but more like the unreliable older brother. 1:37:46 That's a very accurate description.
Rain World the first time you sit down to play it is scary. The second time, if you managed to make decent progress, it's atmospheric and immersive. From then on it's the same... Then you beat the game, and you do your second run. From this point on, the game is funny
It is an absolute blast, I've been playing it for years but downpour has made so much amazing content. I love the extra power level of the cats and the world.
Get it bro. It’s a good deal, and fun fact it’s kinda spoiler proof. There is so much cool experiences in the game that while losing one to spoiler would suck, you still have tons of other that are just as good
@@AliasGaming0 most of the games best moments are really emotional. But with downpour adding way stronger slugcats, you also get to feel really cool while playing. Try it yourself when possible, but climbing the tallest tower as artificer was probably the coolest I’ve felt in a video game since the hollow knight embrace the void ending
Great video, it's already hard to find rain world gameplay on youtube and even harder for downpour, so this was nice. I haven't played downpour because it's not on switch yet, but I have I feeling I'll like Spearmaster a lot. My favorite part of rainworld gameplay wise is the combat and the spearmaster is just the ultimate combat character, even more so than Hunter or Artificer.
glad to hear the steam play together was going smooth, gonna try it out w/ a bud of mine soon. Until then tho I've got some DLC characters to unlock lol
I think Rivulet and Spearmaster are my favorites so far, I love that Rivulet is super agile and Spearmaster just pops out unlimited spears with no downsides
Spearmaster actually has 2 downsides, he can't store items in his stomach and he cannot eat things normally, he has to stab living creatures to get food.
Saw 5 yr old clips of this game randomly and wondered what it was, went searching it up later and turns out there is a expansion. Saw a comment talking about multiplayer and im like... Wut?!
It would’ve been easier to have it on normal or easy mode cause only one of you has to make it in easy and on normal everyone needs to make it but they can be dead or alive
That's totally true, I just thought normal mode would make for the most engaging gameplay for us and hopefully for watching too. That said it did make it much harder haha.
fun facts 1. artificer can make explosive spears and grenades with a spear or rock/debrie at the cost of one food pip 2. gourmand can craft thing with two different items at hand 3. gourmand can eat two different food items to get 2 food pips faster than normal 4. gourmand can REGURGITATE up items at the cost of a food pip this is useful for getting food or crafting 5. if you craft and get the right things as gourmand you can CRAFT the G R A V I T Y B O M B in its campeign and fun fact about the G R A V I T Y B O M B it is arena exclusive however with the addition of gourmand and eleit scavengers in artificer's campegn it is no longer arena exclusive
It definitely has some parts that can make it harder for sure, I would have been across the whole world in the time of this video normally. That said it's nice that the crushing loneliness is replace with party game like hilarity.
My friends and I all have good internet and are in the same province so that may have something to do with it. I imagine anything more than a continent apart would start to cause some latency issues.
@@Salmonwithfeet Wow that's really strange. I wonder if there is a steam server setting or something... looks like there are some remote play settings that could help, like setting client streaming options to fast along side a couple other things. it's under steam settings remote play. I hope this helps!
(Slight fat boy spoilers) I imagine this is what happened after gourmand got back to the tree, he took his family out on an adventure Edit: nvm lol, this is what happens if arti doesn’t lose her kids
Jolly Co-Op has a text settings file, where you can type in the nicknames of the players, instead of the regular "Player 1", "Player 2", etc. It is pretty easy, just search for "Player 1" text and change it do anything you want. I think it helps to differentiate even better.
In Downpour, you can actually do this in-game now! When you go to the co-op screen settings on a save you can type into the little boxes where it says "Player 1", "Player 2", etc
I have a couple of friends who are better at the game than I am so I should try playing with them. If it's one experienced guy and three inexperienced slugcats it's bound to be frustrating.
Before i continue watching this, are the others different species or the gourmand one is the only one different? Edit: nvm they literally told it right after this comment. So gourmand, the artificier, and hunter. Imma listen for what the purpel one is
Everyone should be more like Dylan, has the worst character so the hardest gameplay, isint complaining at all, and is the 2nd best (after AliasGaming)!
@@AliasGaming0 btw are u guys gonna make a part 2? ik its been a year almost but this would be my fav series on utube, its really fun too watch you guys play together!
@@jacquelinehenry6447 I've had the next recording sitting for a while, it's a super tricky edit since we encountered some technical difficulties. I should try just stitching it together as best I can and get back to it. I imagine it will still take some time as the creation of this video took days to edit and that was the sole focus. Keep your eyes peeled, I'll give it a go.
@@AliasGaming0 it would mean so much thanks, i can completley get that it takes a while to edit, but just know some people like me adore your vids, whenever you finish it, ill be the first viewer bahahaha, how long do u think itl take to edit? Like a few months?
It mostly depends on how my priority list for videos goes. It has been a bit on the lower end for a while but I think that I can push it up to about 4th of 5th in the queue and work on it inbetween some easier videos so if all goes well a couple months sounds right ^. I appreciate the motivation! @@jacquelinehenry6447
oh shoot, I totally did. This was such a massive edit in a very small amount of time. I'm sorry. I'll make sure in the future I watch through a few times extra before uploading. Twice clearly wasn't enough. Thanks for letting me know
@@AliasGaming0 It's fine just wanted to let you know. I enjoyed the video and the title really wasn't lying. This truly was THE Rainworld: Downpour Co-Op experience.
Random question, how did you do the co op? Every time I tried we couldn’t get us on different controllers because we all wanted to play with keyboard. Is there a way you can change that?
I believe one keyboard is a limitation remoteplay but there might be a work around in the rain world controller assignments (or hopefully a mod soon). You can do controller assignments in game and then there are slots you assign in the steam remote play.
@@TheMantisLord50 technically you can all play on the keyboard but you will have to share the same keyboard so you each will have to set different keys for your movement and other stuff. go into "options" then "input settings", after that connect all the slugcats that are sharing the keyboard to the keyboard then click on each of those slugcats and set their keys differently, then go to "test input" to see if everything is working if it is you are good to go
if you mean where to find and select which slugcat uses controllers. go into "options" then "input settings", after that connect all the slugcats that are using a controller to the designated controllers then you can click on each of those slugcats and set their buttons differently if you want to, then go to "test input" to see if everything is working if it is you are good to go! if you mean why only one person can use the keyboard, well more then one person can but you will have to share one keyboard so you will have to set different keys for your movement and other stuff. go into "options" then "input settings", after that connect all the slugcats that are sharing the keyboard to the keyboard then click on each of those slugcats and set their keys differently, then go to "test input" to see if everything is working if it is you are good to go!
You have to find them in the environment, they are normally laying around or stuck in the ground. If you are playing spearmaster you can also sacrifice hunger for spears as well but that one is character specific!
I was totally ignorant to the power of Gourm at the time of this video. At this point I am well aware of the crazy damage output the big lad has now. That said I think arti is still better against big groups while Gourm has an easier times against single targets. That said that could just be my own personal bias.
