I remember watching his Thumbs up series on Vice back in the day. Dude was extremely lucky and lived a wild life. From hitchhiking across the world to getting lost in the jungles of Congo it’s unreal that he’s made it through it all while becoming the richest painter alive.
David Choe was already making serious moves before the Facebook stock blew up. His poker skills brought in good money, and his art was selling well. If he had taken that $60k, he would’ve missed out on a huge payday, but he wouldn’t have been hurting. The guy had talent and hustle, and he was successful long before Facebook came along. That stock just took his game to a whole new level.
Awesome to see a video about this madman! Thumbs Up was a huge influence on me, as I now regularly travel across country in a slapdash, chaotic fashion. No way I would've known he did Collision Course, obviously a lot more influential than I ever realized.
I cant stand this dude. I know, 100s of other people who would do AMAZING things if they were in his position. It almost seems like his art approach is "im rich, i know it sucks, screw you"
@Great_PatBingsoo I don't think this guy has any talent except for accepting money from rich people.... Art is subjective, and his sucks. Looks like a toddlers work. And yes, he's entitled to his art as I am entitled to my opinion, that's what art is. I think you have some projection issues...
