Similar to what was done for the Nas song featuring Lauryn Hill called If I Ruled the World. They put together three songs by Whodini, Kurtis Blow, and Delfonics to make one masterpiece to top them all. It’s an awesome experience putting them together in a playlist in chronological order and listening to it front to back. Putting the playlist in the order of which song was sampled through the runtime of the Nas song works too. I wonder if there’s a third song the Fugees sampled for their version of Ready or Not?
@@BittersweetDualityoutside of Boadicea? Watching The Crow with my husband & started researching, because he heard one song from the sample (Fugees Ready or not) & I heard another(Mario Winans I don’t wanna know). I had never known of this song or the song I mentioned until today. I love music!
I'm 76yrs old now and so lucky to have been young in the best musical era ever of the 60's and possibly early 70's, this Delfonics 1968 classic tune brings back so many memories of 60's all nighters.
I'm 44 now and so lucky to be alive in the most artistically creative era of humanity. Not only can I listen to classical masters, contemporary geniuses, baroque masterminds but also early jazz pioneers, soul music that sometimes warms the soul and sometimes makes it cry. But I also get to listen to the endlessly creative music of today's youth.
My dad was born in the 50s, so his music era was from the 60s-80s. I remember he was always talking about this when i was playing the Fugees. Now I get it.
Shaking my head at how nice this sounds. This is the epitome of timeless. In another 100 years this will still sound so nice! My parents had the best music ever, period. 2020 still loving it!
1968: They were the seed from which sprouted Philly's massive sounds of the 1970's. Thom Bell went from here to the Stylistics and, later the Spinners, among others. Bought this in 1970 on Philly Groove, distributed by Bell Records, later Arista. Between Thom Bell and Gamble & Huff, wow!
Quite an era, the Philly Sound. This music cut across gender, income and race boundaries. Everyone lkved it and still do. Wben sings were songs ! Don't forget Mr. Billy Paul and Harold Melvin & Bluenotes featuring Mr. Teddy Pendergrass !
People here noticed that Lauryn Hill sampled the lyrics in this track. But People failed to realize that Timbaland also sampled the melody/brass of this song for Missy Elliot's legendary track, "sock it to me." Another reminder that today's musical artists constantly are in the studio listening to the classics.
Not just listening but re-releasing and sampling without giving obvious credit to the originals. I thought this was an original by the Fugees until today!😳
The Original and still The Best Version done right by The Delfonics. This is so good many artists have covered it and used on numerous Commercials but nothing will ever compare to the Delfonics.
Woooooowwwwww!!!!! I didn’t know Missy and Fugees sampled this… and Trey Songz❤❤❤❤ that sample work, works almost every time. …. I better up my sample game. Thank you Delfinics
Lyrics / Letra da música: Ready or not here I come You can't hide, gonna find you and keep you happy Ready or not here I come You can't hide, gonna love you and make you love me You can't run away, you can't run away From this love I got, oh baby, you can't run away Hey baby, 'cause I got a lot, yeah Anywhere you go, anywhere you go My poor heart got to know, oh baby Hey baby, you can't hide from my love, oh no Ready or not here I come You can't hide, gonna find you and keep you happy Ready or not here I come You can't hide, gonna love you and make you love me Anywhere you go My poor heart got to know Oh baby, hey baby You can't hide from my love, oh no, yeah Ready, get ready Ready, get ready Ready or not here I come You can't hide, gonna find you and keep you happy You better come on, baby, oh yeah, oh yeah I'll make you happy I'm gonna find you now, yeah and I'll make you happy Anywhere you hide now oh yeah, yeah
I just heard this song for the first time about two months ago and was surprised to hear parts of what I thought were original songs by Missy Elliott and the Fugees. Great song
The Delfonics gave us such beautiful, timeless, romantic songs. Classics that will never get old. I smile when I remember my youthful days, growing up with The Delfonics music. Wonderful memories. Rest in peace. Mr. William Hart. Your music will never get old.
When I was a kid and I would hear the intro of the song, the French horns made it sound menacing as if the Big Bad Wolf was coming , 😂 lol . It was definitely an attention getter but then it turned into the sweetest song ever. Rest in peace William Hart 🙏🏾.Thank you for blessing us with your wonderful voice.❤️
This is one of the few groups that almost every song they sing is outstanding. Thanks for the post...love this group...them and the dramatics...hard to find to many songs not to like from both groups....maybe one or two. There are other great groups out there I love as well...but there aren't alot of their songs that amount to the many that I like from these two groups. Almost all their songs are hits since their beginning.
