I literally made it an effort to listen to this at exactly 5:32 P.M.

It's really sad and nostalgic to come back to these old lofi songs having listened to them when they first came out, and remember what life was like back then

I discovered lofi in highschool. I was in the 9th grade and It was a very very small school. I was sitting in spanish class, the blinds open, letting the sun in and hitting my Spanish book...I smelled the rain from outside and my teacher was playing this song and I never felt like that ever. I asked her what it was and she told me it was lofi hip hop. I've never been the same since.

i feel like this song would be played in a silent cartoon only with music and a character would be riding their bike by the beach as the sun calmly sets... that would be amazing and super relaxing to watch..

It's funny how each time I come across this song again, life is severely different. It's like everytime I listen to it, a new chapter in my life begins. It's surreal, it's like a saving point of some sort.

I find it interesting that the low quality and lazy aspect of these lo-fi hip hop beats are supposed to make you nostalgic for simpler and more tranquil times. But as time passed on and so many things happened since the genre first became a thing, now we feel nostalgic for the music itself. We now remember the times where we would listen to lo-fi hip hop while studying, playing videogames, reading, or chatting with our friends on Discord. I think that this loophole of nostalgia made lo-fi hip hop reach it's full purpose as a genre. That thing on the internet that we randomly discovered wich accompanied us on our day-by-day routine, and made us discover a whole community of artists and enjoyers of the music. I love this kind of stuff

Nostalgia's a weird emotion. Such a strange blend of happy and sad, and nothing brings it out of me quite like this song. For me, this song is 2007. It's a thursday evening after school. I'm playing video games with my friend, but he has to leave soon because his mom cooked him dinner. And I know mom will soon call me to get my own dinner downstairs. There's a golden glow coming in from outside, but it's not on my mind. I'm thinking of friends, of crushes, of homework, of the day-to-day routine that felt so mundane at the time but that I'd do anything to have back now. There was a simplicity then, a feeling that life was ahead of me, on that old Thursday evening at 5:32pm. But times have changed, and so have I.

this used to be my favorite song in 2019 omg

the first time i listened to this, i had just moved to sydney. we rented a small apartment, and it was really dingy at times, but there was a balcony where you could see the beautiful highway and the streets below. we only had one bathroom, and whenever my sister used it before we went to school and i waited for her to finish, i'd listen to lofi in the meantime while watching the early morning rise, with the streets and highway below. now, i've moved to perth and we live in a bigger house with 2 bathrooms, but just listening to this takes me back to sydney and everything i left behind there.

RU-vid recommended this to me. They know that I've already fallen in love with tracks like these.

imagine this: you're driving to the nearest empty beach with your friends in the middle of summer. it’s august 2nd, 7pm, the car's top is down, and golden hour is lighting up all of your faces. the wind flurries through your hair, caressing it. you fling your arms up, singing all the words with your friends to the song you put on. thrill rushes through your veins and body. you breathe in the refreshing, crisp summer air and begin to see the beach you're heading to arrive closer and closer. the sand’s white and the ocean is as blue as the blue raspberry popsicle you had earlier at an ice cream truck. you run towards the beach, friends by your side. *summer couldn't get better.*

I remember it was January of 2018 when I discovered lofi when I was trying to find “relaxing music” while working on a school project and what an experience it was.Without this song I might not have ever been invested into the genre or the feeling at all. ive been listening to lofi for a long time, and this was the first time i checked the comments. the lofi community seemed to be one of the only places with people who are kind, chill and shares their genuine thoughts and stories. this warmed my heart.

More just memories that I miss but at the same time I know if lockdown happened again it would suck so hard to decide if life just felt so unreal and odd in a way during lockdown or it was horrible. There is a girl I like. We used to sit together in all classes. But our teacher rearranged all of our seatings. We used to be good friends back then. I even remember our first conversation. Back then I didn't like her any more than as a friend, but I think she liked me back then more than just as a friend. She showed many signs but I thought it was just her way of messing around with people, as we usually did in class. She let me smell her hair, she pinched my cheeks, and just generally was pretty bubbly around me. Today I like her much more than as a friend, but we grew apart since the teachers rearranged our seatings. Now she likes another guy, and I'm a lost cause. She was also the first to send me a message on instagram out of the two of us. I was so fucking dumb back then y'know. Wish I could've talked to her more in person after our teachers reassigned us. The guy is strong and sporty though, and has great grades. I think that I an going to start working out more and balancing myself out, studying more and working out. This is a really good piece of music. Despite having no lyrics, it comes close to a piece of poetry. Not necessarily a result of the song itself, however, the nostalgia that is brought with the song, which made it so good.
