I’ll never forget how me and my chi workers thought we were going to have a girls night after work on a Friday. We were going to see Precious and then go to have 2 for 1 margaritas at Chili’s. After we saw Precious, the mood was low and sad. We didn’t know what the heck we had watched. And I don’t think any of us ever watched it again nor did we ever encourage anyone else to watch it.

Tony was hilarious as expected with his review. I actually enjoyed it because it was a hood haunting which we don't get to see often. but I also know this hood setting would turn some folks off. My favorite scene was the ending with the lead actress speaking in tongues, because it's unique,. I have never seen that in a movie before although it is quite common at church. I was actually very excited to see Hollywood vet Glenn Close step into this role. I loved watching their banter back and forth sparring but knowing full well that is their toxic way of loving each other. They also had Lucas from Stranger Things Caleb McLaughlin and he proved to be so talented along with the rest of the cast. This was such a great movie.

Totally agree about Ms. Day. This is my first time seeing her act and she's made a believer out of me already.

The performances were good...I moving out ASAP! I hate flies..I'll take a sledgehammer to a fly quick.. plus I can't do smells

Great video review 👍🏽 👏🏼 on all fronts. I saw this movie more as a docu-drama than a horror movie. Being based (loosely) on reality was a big part for me. As a Christian, I saw and appreciated the triumph over evil. We fail as Christians when we don't understand how the devil moves to destroy us. "My people perish for lack of knowledge ".... One reason potentially why our youth today are failing is that they don't know how to recognize evil when it's in their face. We aren't preparing our youth according to the word of God. Christians put on your full armor!!! Let go of the egos and let God lead you 🙏🏽...

I read a article where Lee Daniels said he wanted to distance himself as far as possible from the real location for spiritual reasons. He also had prayer on set every day before filming in order to protect the actors and crew.

I think the acting was great, but the story was a little disjointed and they could have inserted more of the horror aspects in the beginning. Overall it was ok but it is a Netflix film so you know…😂

I agree with 🎷🎷🎷 1/2!! I enjoyed the acting across the board.. the characters having layers allow you to emphasize with the "harder" characters.. the story itself is interesting and frightening, to say the least.

I don't do horror but glad there was nuance. That's what drives me batty about Tyler Perry.

I'm from Indiana and interested in paranormal/spirtual stuff, so I've known about the Ammons haunting for awhile. i suggest looking up the actual story and watching Demon House (zac bagans movie about the house) vs watching this movie. they changed so much that it doesn't do the real history justice

I enjoyed it. The acting was great, and Andra Day and Glenn Close worked well together. The focus was supposed to be more on the personal demons they were fighting than the demons in the house, and that is what I liked most about the movie. Now, if that would have been my house. I would have left town when the flies were around and my son decided to be a demonic Spider-Man, climbing the walls like an addict going through withdrawal.

That was the wildest "no disrespect" I have heard in a while.

Loved your break down. I thought it was entertaining for what it was and I’m glad I watched it prior to any clips/trailers. Also I think you got the nail on the head about TP VS. Lee Daniels. That nuance is very important and builds necessary layers in film. Also to be fair the movie precious was dark since it was based on the book Push which was also very dark. Anyway good review and break down.

So *21 Jump Street* of all films....what shot entirely in New Orleans. But now the new move is Pittsburgh. Salute to them.

I loved this movie. I saw the Zack Bagans documentary a while back and would have NEVER spent the night in there alone like he did. He kept antagonizing the demons in the house and as a result he now has permenant double vision, crossed eyes, and see rainbows. He has to wear prism glasses for the rest of his life. How fast would I have moved out of that house? I would like to say as soon as I saw the first fly but I live in Georgia. Bugs are common. But the first time I hear steps coming from the basement? *Phone rings* Honey? Where are you? I thought you was just going to the kitchen for a beer. What do you mean grab the kids and meet you at the motel? When did you leave? The car is still here.

I agree with you 100 percent. My wife and I watched this movie and was sooo impressed with the acting and characters...... Then the boy climbed up the wall and the movie fell apart. If this wasn't a horror movie and was more about the family dynamic, struggle and triumphs, it had potential to be top tier excellent. The acting was that good to us.

I would’ve been more entertained and satisfied if they didn’t take SOOOO LONG to get to the point, like everything popped off last 35 mins ! They dragged the movie out , we could’ve gotten the story in 60 minutes.

The movie was great!!! Glenn delivered exceptionally and Lee Daniels did his thang! If something is wrong, Im getting out as fast as possible and sueing the realtor for not informing me of what took place in that house years earlier

Great review and thanks for pointing out the nuances. The whole cast delivered. Andra Day and Glenn Close stood out but everyone delivered. The younger son's possession is the scariest part to me and the boy playing him should get more credit for playing such a heavy role. The demon would have been scarier if there were no crazy lines when it taunted Andra Day's character. But it is a good thriller.

I just want these black films to have higher budgets . I feel like the visual low quality be noticeable. These movies be feeling cheap
