Enjoy this episode and want to hear more about how it was made and the training used on Diesel? We've made a special video where Victoria looks back at the episode and gives updated commentary! Check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rXaGxFzv-GM.html
Jake Well she would’ve had plenty of bruises, scratches and bite marks seeing how aggressively Diesel jumps at her. Unless there’s an actual demon in the house, I’d say that’s pretty indicative of an untrained dog.
Well, he may be a domineering type, based on his lack of confidence owning and walking a small dog. And he doesn’t back up his partner? Not much of a man IMO 😂.
To play the devil's advocate, since the disparity of behaviour is so huge it's possible that since the woman brought up the issue in a calm and reasonable matter he didn't realise how grave it was. Not excusing him, juwt trying to come with a semblance of an explanation.
My dad was a big, tough, man's man.A butcher by trade and a hunter for fun. He loved his Chihuahua and before that, he adored his Peke . A real man isn't worried about the size of his dog.
This guy is insecure. He thinks the big dog makes him look hard. Really pathetic. It kills me that people choose looks over temperament. That's why so many are on death row, at 1 year old.. Then the male owner is SO OBSESSED with his dogs testicles. Again, so anthropomorphically pathetic. He looks at his dog's testicles and visualises his own. Seriously. What a sad man. I seriously wish these men were identified with a tattoo on the forehead, so you didn't have to speak to them, to know they are not worth knowing. It would save so much time. And the girlfriend should reevaluate what to look for in a male partner.
I was in Austin about a month ago, in an area that was gentrified for the most part, but there were still some OG’s who remained there & were dangerous. There was this guy out when I was walking who offered me to smoke weed with him. Big dude, scary dude - and he was walking a freakin Yorkshire terrier with a pink collar. Big, tough guys don’t need a dog to prove how tough they are.
Well, neutered purebreed working dog will be disqualified in dogshows and such and cannot breed for obvious reasons, but I'm pretty sure those owners won't participate in either of those. I dont understand why people adopt working dogs if they arent putting them to work, resulting in excessive energy and behaviour issues. You can live with unneutered dog just fine with proper exercise and training and they tend to calm down quite a bit when they mature up.
@@DemonsAtPlay714 She didn't want the dog put down, she believed they needed the dog put down if the behavior was not able to be corrected. She said that people were irresponsible, and I agree. The dog would have been put down out of necessity, not anger or anything like that.
My comment wasn’t about the fact that a girl was involved or had anything to do with feminism, it would be the same way if it were two men or a women that was disrespecting a man. But okay lol.
I think pet owners should all go through a course with a teacher like Victoria. She really knows how to tame a dog but many pet owners own a pet not knowing how to tame their own pet. Bless the existence of Victoria. She really lived her name!!
Not only that, I studied so many books before I got my dog/puppy(8 months) almost a week ago(will be tomorrow) and I still feel like I've been toss into the deep end without knowing how to swim. People should be reacquired to study books and also get training advice from real people. I've only just had a brakethrow with my girl staying and going to the cage after almost a week training. I got lucky she's already half trained, idk how I would cope otherwise. Edit and by that I mean she's not destroying out house or chasing thr cats, the breeder had her able to sit, give and other stuff we are learning. She's so placid and gentle so much of thr time, watching this videos I feel lucky my girl isn't as rowdy as thise dogs and iam learning how to keep it thar way.
People tend to get husky’s cause they’re cool looking and make them look good without realizing that the breed is very high maintenance. They need lots of attention, lots of walking, and a lot of training. They’re smart, but stubborn and can be very territorial and aggressive at times. A husky is not a good first dog individually or as a couple if you don’t know how to handle them. My mom and I have rescued husky’s for years cause so many people get them for looks but get rid of them once they figure out how high maintenance they are.
Yup, I actually regret getting the Husky breed. My husky is actually quite chill and well behaved, and of course I love him. BUT, my next dog will definitely not be a Husky lol. It’s just not the most fitting breed for me (or a lot of ppl).
I agree with almost everything, but I have NEVER seen a husky show any form of agressive behavior that is completely it's owners fault. They're truly not for everyone. Mine is impossible, last week she learned how to open the showers.
I was thinking the same thing, (2014) my toxic cousin was upset over me not accepting the beautiful husky he offered me EVEN IF I HAD EXPLAINED HIM THAT "EVEN THOUGH I WOULD GENUINELY LOVE TO HAVE THE DOG, I CAN'T TAKECARE OF HIM, MY WORKING TIME WOULD BE CONFLICTED AND I HAD WORKED HARD ENOUGH TO GET INTO THIS CAREER I'M PASSIONATE ABOUT, I DON'T HAVE THE SPACE TO PLACE HIM ELSEWHERE AT HOME(MY COUSIN KNOWS THAT)" still my cousin GOT UPSET AND MADE ME FEEL AS IF I AM AN UNGRATEFUL PERSON good thing 2019 I no longer live in the same country as my toxic family IN GENERAL. Back to the dog topic, Huskies are not decorative accessories, this is THE SAME WAS ME AND MY HUSBAND WHO HAD MUTUAL AGREEMENT OF NOT HAVING KIDS and we never regret it. Now we got a dog which is a Golden Retriever we are able to take care of it.
Yeah I always love uploads of her videos she's a very good dog discipliner if we never had Victoria what's the point in having a dog if you don't have Victoria our god of dogs
this happens, if you have no idea what type of "dog" you have. The are dog living in a big social community, where everybody has it's place. And when they grow, they play out their dominance to take over the lead of the pack
@@laikahh16 I know they're nice and I love them too but that doesn't mean they can't look scary. Especially some huskies who have those "mean eyebrow" patterns on their heads.
And he probably hasn’t got anything to do also. It’s not only boundaries, you also have to fulfill his desire to work and run. They are bred for doing WORK and not just hanging around looking awesome. His bad luck is his good looks.
Trainer:"It seem to be he has no respect for you" Becky:.......... "hes marking you, most dogs mark bushes and lamposts" Becky:........... The trainer is Brutal lol
No hate but i have a dog and he marks bushes walls for peing the next time like it is his propriety so she is telling the truth and warning her cz it is very bad
I grew up with huskies. We were mushers in my family. When we had puppies my dad was very careful about who he would sell to, and refused anyone who said it was the only dog their bf/ husband would accept. Happens more often than you'd think... :/
So, in words that somebody like me could understand: If the relationship is a car and the ground, Jordan would be a hydraulic jack, seperating the ground and car, and Diesel is the jackstand that makes sure the car does not go back down?
@@Lazyboy230 ok, but did you not read the "So, in words that somebody like me could understand:" part? If you could not tell, I like cars. I put it in car-related terms, so I could understand it. So what if it was longer?
@@purce21 I said "somebody LIKE me", not myself specifically. I understood it fine, but if somebody who does not understand the original comment, they might understand it the way I put it.
Do you know the details of their relationship? Perhaps she’s passing it all over town and doesn’t deserve the respect of either. Stop acting as if you know what’s going on based on far from complete evidence.
I have a husky who used to be problematic in the past, but I trained him using tips from this video, and guests say he's the model dog. We have had him for 4 years now, he's grown up to be an amazing adult. Thanks, Victoria!
I volunteer at the humane society and it makes me so angry seeing the high energy breeds surrendered because they are too much. You got a pit bull because they look tough, but you can't deal with their need for walks everyday???
The moment her partner said she's not dominating enough..... wow. Good training had dogs respecting both owners. If you point it at domination, you didn't train your dog well enough.
At the time this was made, dominating tactics were how you were expected to train your dog a lot of the time. And to be fair with some dogs it works well. Know someone with a Alaskan malamute and she's extremely calm and well behaved, but the owner mentioned that he had to put a lot of work into her as a puppy and that he has to establish that he was the boss, these dogs are quite naturally dominant, and yes dominance exists in dogs, but it's not as prevalent as once thought
I got my husky on a whim when I was 20. 10 weeks old and eye opening really. He’s so smart and they really understand a bunch of little things you wouldn’t expect. Although extremely high maintenance. It made me more of a person who’s willing to get up and get a job done. Cause my boy was always letting me know he was ready to do something
Dude, having a small dog doesn't minimize your masculinity and having a big dog doesn't maximize it either.. Edit: Thx for all the likes & comments, I’m famous now lol 🤣
POV: this is the first video of “its me or the dog” you ever had seen, and you still watch it after many other videos being posted after 4 years you always come back to this video because it taught you a lot ❤
Man i hope she left him or the dudes get better in trust issues. O.w idk what can happen in future if he can't even trust her own gf in thing's like this
I have no doubt in my mind this couple split up, whether or not the dog was brought under control. This guy is something else. He absolutely knew this dog was like this. He must have known
Diesel: **bites Becky** Jordan: He's a perfect angel! You're just not being a good owner! Edit: both of the owners should take them self together, and train the dog. Please don't attack me
or they should trained the dog as a puppy, most ppl just let there dog get away with what ever as a puppy cause its cute, but then it learns that it can do what ever it wants and when it big its not cute. my Pomeranian was trained as a puppy and now is a modle dog practically the only thing is she sometimes doesn't come the first time u call her, but she will if u keep calling by like the third time. but normally she comes right away
I've had a few huskies over the years, beautiful, high energy dogs.. The only problem I ever had with them was running away and chasing small animals .
Nah they dont need to work on anything. That guys gonna end up single with that same dog until he ends up in the grave lmao. She needs to go find a better man
Dogs can take on the characteristics of their owners. Listening to Jordan in this video I wonder if Diesel's lack of respect towards Becky is at all related to this...
It’s not the fact that they trained him wrong... they didn’t train him at ALL!! Don’t get a large breed if you don’t have any knowledge in proper dog training
Huskies cant be trained, they dont listen to people they have a mind of their own ,it is more of the fact that they dont go out everyday with him and run like 10km with him huskies loves to do activities a lot of them, plus husky is not a large bread it is medium.
She didn’t want a husky, she wanted a chihuahua because she doesn’t know how to train a big dog. Her husband/ boyfriend wanted a husky but he doesn’t have time train it because of work.
Ayah Kline chihuahuas are cool and all but i think is the she needs to learn that she has to step it up if you want this dog to stop when you buy a dog you need to be fully aware of what your doing because the dog will be with you for the next 13 to 14 years she could act in charge and show to dog whos boss but she acts like its hopeless
First red flag is that they “fell in love” based on his looks, you should adopt based on energy, temperament, freindly ness, and if you want a hunting dog, family dog, guard dog, lap dog, etc. There are several breeds for a reason. They should’ve gotten a golden retriever since they are equally as beautiful but calmer, more freindly, and less aggressive.
My grandpa a tough guy himself (though he’s softer now with age 😂) the biggest dog he’s ever had was a spring spaniel. He’s mostly had miniature pinschers and now he has a little French bulldog
Shadow Of Light It’s not violent, it is aggression and dominance. There is a difference. He did not get brought up correctly, so sees his humans as the lower members in his pack. People really should be required to take breed specific courses before taking dogs.
Don’t get me wrong, Diesel is absolutely beautiful Husky I’ve ever seen. I’m just very impressed how he went from being a bad dog to such a calm good dog. It shows that he has improved so much.
Diesel has had no boundaries up until now. A dog with no boundaries and a lot of energy is just begging for trouble. Fortunately, he was still very young, so it was easy to reverse his habits.
@@Veronica-pz4gw You cannot apply the concept of bad and good to a dog like that. You can call a behaviour bad, yes. You cannot call a dog bad. That's simply an untrained dog, not a bad one.
I have a friend who owns a rarity, because his chihuahua is actually very even tempered and docile. Then again, the chihuahua had to live with his grandmother first, and I'm pretty sure she drummed any aggression out of that dog early on.
10:34 This almost brought me to tears because this dog reminds me of my dog when she was young, looks just like her at 9 months old. She has trauma and she was very afraid of people and she was very malnourished. I can’t even imagine what must have happened to her before my family adopted her, she used to always stay in her kennel even if we left it open. I’m very glad that she isn’t scared anymore and I wish I could help every dog in need, but my parents have a very different mindset than me.
That happens when you get a dog because it is "beauftiful" and not because you think you can handle it. Also sometimes dogs are jealous too. And that can be a problem.
But Huskey's are known for being gentle and loyal dog breeds. One acting aggressive like this one is highly unusual. It must have been spoiled and gotten it's way all the time.
Imagine if they had kids. Jordan: *Leaves house* Dog: *Attacks Becky and the kids* Jordan: “You and the kids are small so it’s your fault he attacks all of you.”
So you're telling me that he didn't believe her and it took them getting on television for him to believe that the dog was treating her this way?!!! WOW! He sucks.
so your telling me, the woman couldn't figure out saying UH-UH, giving treats for good behaviour, kicking the dog out when bad and was surprised when the dog acted that way?
“Imagine me walking a chihuahua.” Imagine walking an untrained husky that bites the wrong person and gets put down. Edit: guys, I don’t care that the husky is big. I care that he’s untrained, as I mentioned earlier. If you don’t train your dog, and he’s a decent size, they can cause more damage and be likely to be put down for biting. I also think it’s a little ridiculous to think a small dog makes you less masculine but that’s just me lol
@@nicolataylor6011 Not believing her may be him being ignorant, but being insecure in his masculinity because he wouldn't ever want a chihuahua just like most rational beings? LOL.
A real man isn't defined by how big his dog is it is defined by how he behaves with other that is if he respects every one and stands for what is right
I have two huskies, and they are batshit insane. They are well-behaved and well trained, but personality-wise? Insane. NOT good dogs for first-time dog owners. Huskies are VERY strong personalities.
Exactly!!! They are extremely smart stubborn dogs, my husky is literally the perfect dog but I am a VERY active dog owner, tons of exercise, firm boundaries and expectations!
I mean I got my cat because he was cute, but I’m well educated on cats and I’m never planning on getting rid of him. Obviously don’t get pets only for aesthetics, but it’s not bad to choose your pet because it’s cute
I agree that the guy isn't all that but no one mentions his softy gf who gets walked over by a dog, a chihuahua would do the same if she acts like a pushover. She has the same attitude with people, men too I guess. If she had kids same problem.
My neighbor is an old biker looking dude who is literally terrifying looking, but he is actually rly sweet and has a tiny chihuahua that he takes for walks in tiny pink suits and everyone just thinks that makes him even more manly 😂
Omg I used to have a creepy neighbor who would ride a bie down the street with a tiny dog (forgot the breed) and would have it on his shoulder. He was a real creep. One time when I was little, I was outside on my trampoline and he came into OUR yard and started taling to me. My dad was watching the whole time through the window, came outside, and he was immediatley lie, "Oh! Hey..". Weirddd. Also, I saw a garden snae once whilst getting in the car, and screamed. He was outide when this happened. He ran bac inside and grabbed a baseball bat and BEAT the life out of it. Made me sad.
*girly squeel* This was my very first It's Me Or The Dog episode! In addition, one of the biggest things that initially drove my desire to be a pet trainer 🧡🧡🧡 Now excuse me while I binge this entire playlist 😁 love you and all your work, Ms. Victoria!
“Can you imagine me with a chihuahua? Dressing it up in little pink suits and stuff? Haha, I don’t think so.” That’s your choice bud, I’m pretty sure the general public is more scared of chihuahuas than huskies.
Let’s talk, well , that’s a ridiculous comment, I I’ve got 4 chihuahua’s and there great, I’m terrified of big dogs, in particular bully breeds, how many people have you heard of being killed by a chihuahua? There’s probably thousands killed every year by big dogs , pitbulls being the worst for attacking
She needs to break up with him...dude doesn't respect his girlfriend's space at all. How about compromising between a chihuahua and a husky? Bad relationship is bad.
@@wjrneo2 Yeah Husky is NOT a good choice for an innexperienced dog owner. There are very well behaved breeds that are great for first time owners, but ALWAYS take your puppy to obedience classes, because the trainer doesnt just train your dog, but they teach you how to be a good master. Plus it helps dogs with behaving around other dogs.
I feel like the thing Becky said towards the very end of the video is what so many people seem to miss. The fact that the husband was doing things one way and she did things another way - it creates confusion. Not only for pets but for children just as much. You need to be a team. That's how you get those ridiculous situations where a child will go ask dad for something because they know mom won't allow it. Be a TEAM. You can have your own opinions but your decision-making needs to be on the same page.
