These are the most amazing musicians, second generation. Imagine growing up with the Allman Brothers Band. Derek then turns around and marries the very best new blues singer, Susan Tedeschi, Wow oh wow, Can't wait for their kids to grow up...This is a great band for someone like me who has listened to what is now classic rock all my life. Hell, you get burnt. This is music for any blues fanatic such as myself!!!

@TheBluesguy52154 about your comment that Trucks is only an immitator and not an originator... years ago I was critical of players I labeled as "Hendrix clones" - Robin Trower, Frank Marino, SRV, ect. Fortunately, I came to my senses, and even spent many hours learning to play their music. and I now know that each was great in his own way, and really carried forward a great playing style. The same is certainly true here - I hope that he and others carry this great style for generations.
@theBlueguy52154 Your criticism seems to have no basis in reality - Derek has great tone, great technique, and most important plays with real SOUL. That's what music is all about. Anyone with a little talent and enough time can play fast, but the guys who's playing just reaches down inside always get my respect.
Man this groove hits you like a wave. If this doesn't make you move, I don't know what to say. I saw Derek & Susan when they played the Hollywood Bowl with B.B. King. Amazing concert, amazing musicians, righteous jams.

Don't let women fool you or shift you away from what you are meant to be. Since he net Susan we lost our beloved Derek at the peak of his career when he just started drifting away from that deep rooted blues, adding more jazz and eastern music to it. Now he's doing some country crap to please his wife, I hope he is at least happy
@Gallagherfreak100 I really have a hard time seing the AC style in Derek's playing. AC didn't slide, used capo high up on the board, and tuned his guitar in an Open F-minor , F-C-F-Ab-C-F or an Open D-minor tuning

Nice version. The singe captures some of the "hair raising falsetto" of Skip James's original (qv), and the guitar is very respectful to the song as well, not turning it into a riff-slanging piece, but for the most part just supporting the vocal, and providing bridges between verses. The guitar is actually more restrained than you would think, watching the video--because the production highlights it much more than what the band is actually playing. Well it is the Trucks band.
This is a great cover. Samantha Fish also does a great cover of this song as well. Her version has a more heavier sound than this but her version and this version both kick ass. Samantha Fish has collaborated with Devon Allman as well and they did a kick ass cover of "Stop Dragging My Heart Around"
@Nangus01 It's actually best not to argue who is best, because that's not what it is about, and its not what they are trying to do. You are missing the point of the original intent of the music.
oh yeah hes a balance in the band the best band ive heard of .. blows led zepplin and all those guys out the water IMO ive never gotten the chance to see neither in concert but they jumped all over ther stage and had gimmicks... this band ... everyone is in one place and you can still feel the soul and pwer from the music they play
@bloodthirstyworks i reckon if Skip James came back from the dead he'd be giving trucks et al mad props for doing such an insane job of his song. Trucks = tone squared, and James would be more qualified than most to appreciate that.
i kind of agree with you, bluesman, but seriously, if you don't have anything better to do with your time than argue on youtube with a bunch of people you'll never meet, that's pretty sad
