Half of these beautiful souls are no longer with us. Thankful to known them, grateful for the hangs, laughs, insights, and music... RIP Kofi, Rico, and The Count.
The bass player is having the time of his life, just look at his face! My leg was going crazy under the desk Derek is a guitar master. And the singer is very emotional
I'm still in awe over Duane. He didn't use his other fingers to mute strings like 99% of slide players do. Duane was so good, he didn't have to. His touch was so light, so perfect that he coaxed only the notes he wanted from those guitars. You can see it in the few clips of him playing. His fingers are floating above the slide. Nowhere near the fretboard. It's absolutely unbelievable still. Even 50 yrs later. That's why he will ALWAYS be the master. Derek is the best living slide player. No doubt about it. No one will ever be on Duane's level, though. You hear how dirty Derek's playing is sometimes. Duane's was never that dirty. Not even on his worst nights.
of course it is. that's what all musicians do, they speak thru their instrument. Derek has so much soul and tells a story every time he plays his guitar. It's beautiful. He's my fav slide player hands down.
keyboardist/organist knows what he's doing. understanding and respecting the style. no bebop whole step half step diminished riffs thrown in in the trade offs with guitar. awesome.
koffi bourbage. his brother, oteal also currently plays or has played with tedeschi trucks band. more talent on this stage than most people see in a lifetime.
It just doesn't get any better than The Derek Trucks Band. I truly hope they reunite. Every video I find of this show is phenominal. I have to find this dvd, in fact I'm gonna do some searching right now.
I have listened to this over and over again this past week and this week inside and outside my work has been amazing. Derek Trucks and his band are beyond amazing. Derek Trucks is, by far, The Best guitarist around now. In my opinion. He speaks to me. His music speaks to me. His influences speak to me. I am truly jealous of him, his talent, his wife(Susan), and his life. Damn I love every second of this
Everyone kills it in the video... I have the dvd and its incredible but the bassist is sooooo good on this song. He looks stoned as hell, (not that he is) but is just killing it throughout the entire keyboard/guitar trade-off.
There isn't too many bands where EVERY member is a master of their instrument, but this is one of them. They're all fantastic musicians but not a terribly popular band... yet bands like Coldplay sell out arenas with 4 note songs.
I remember growing up 90s and Santana was just an amazing guitarist and he just had random singers on his albums. That’s the vibe I’m getting. Amazing guitarist that carry’s a band and is named after him.
I say "hot damn" to this jam! That is the most profound lyric I have ever heard. Blind,Crippled and Crazy! How about pushing up em daiseis! WoW! Enjoy Life! Keep Jammin!
Hot damn this is a great version of this song. Holy cow I am about to blow my speakers. I am loosing control of my feet. Let's get down and do the blues man shuffle. That is so tight!!!! Enjoy Life! Keep Jammin!
I can't wait to see Derek and Susan in Colombia, MO for my first live Derek experience. I seriously can't stop thinking about it like waiting for Christmas when your a little kid.
Just finished Eric Clapton's autobiography last night - I had to check this Trucks fella out. Eric had ALOT of good things to say about Truck's guitar playing while they toured together... when Eric says you're good, you're GOOD
Mike Mattison could not sing this song better and Derek is so subtle with his playing. Why do I feel a little of Danny Gatton influence in this song? Not sure but I think he would have enjoyed playing it. Great work from everyone of them. Just a terrific sound, song and presentation. And I like the shirts too! :)
He is a great singer and I was saddened that he was relegated to back up singer when Derek and Linda hooked up not that she isn’t great in her own right.
