I did wonder why Drake ended up spiraling, and his former friends distanced themselves from him. They probably knew of the abuse, and either didn't want to be involved (as it could be a blow to their own careers), or they had been traumatized too in some way, and just needed to block it out somehow. So sad... I feel real bad for him. Imagine going into court after being victimized as a child, only to find out over 40 letters supporting his abuser... No wonder he ended up so problematic later in life, that would *crush* any kid.

Let’s just be honest here. This kind of stuff is not new in the least. Just like mental health, this degeneracy should have been addressed decades ago. Just think of all the childhood celebrities whose mental state turned into garbage, no doubt because stuff like this happened. They were victims crying out for help, and society turned a blind eye and plugged their ears. I stopped watching Nickelodeon back in the day because a lot of their programs had a lot of feet related jokes and I thought it was kinda weird. The fact the logo was a foot also weirded me out after I noticed all the feet jokes. Then all this stuff kicked off and I am just like, I am so glad I am not the only one that finds it weird.

The unfortunate reality is that when it comes to kids' tv, there are a lot of really powerful people with money and connections enough to escape consequences being allowed free, unrestricted access to children - a class of person who inherently has few rights and few people trust the word of in our society, and who are specifically determined to be conventionally attractive enough for TV, where there is financial benefit to the worst parents to letting their children be abused. The natural end result if you don't go out of your way to prevent it is that predators are going to be attracted to jobs that have the children of other people being contractually subservient to them. It shouldn't be a thing that needs to be worried about but it very much is. Children are already vastly underserved and let down by our justice system and child actors are really no different, if not worse in many cases. That there aren't more enforceable protections in place to protect child actors - one of the few 'acceptable' forms of child labor still out there - is a shame to our whole society tbh. We constantly hear about child actors and musical artists growing up facing lives of abuse and exploitation and yet what laws have actually come of that? We should start pushing for that, I think.

I have a feeling that even without the #MeToo movement, Dan Schneider would have been out the door from Nickelodeon anyway. The reason why I believe this is due to his subsequent shows getting stale since they weren't bringing in the views and ratings like his big 3, Drake and Josh, iCarly, and Zoey 101. In retrospect, Dan would have been out by now regardless, it's just the fact that the #MeToo movement essentially got him out earlier, resulting in Nickelodeon refusing to renewed the production deal with his company Schneider's Bakery. That's still a plus in my book, but the point of my argument is that he was doomed regardless, and if the allegations came out AFTER his contract's expiration, Nickelodeon wouldn't have renewed it and no other company would collab with him. Either way, all of this is moot considering what happened to Brian Peck. He got convicted, registered as a sex offender, yet Nickelodeon still kept him. Granted some of the executives didn't know until they found out and fired Brian, but the fact that he still came back to the studio AFTER HIS CONVICTION pretty much establishes that the higher ups never pay attention to what goes on when it concerns their employees.
