Tiuru Hospital is located in Korvenkylä, Lappeenranta. The property was owned by the South Karelia Hospital District until 2005, and since 2010 by Seniori-Saimaa, a joint venture between the city of Lappeenranta and Holiday Club Resorts.
Designed by architect Jalmari Lankinen and completed in 1939, the Tiuruniemi sanatorium was originally built as a tuberculosis sanatorium for Viipur County. The building has also served as a military hospital, a rheumatism and lung hospital, and a reception center. The Tiuru region belongs to a regionally significant built cultural environment. The Tiuru hospital building, which represents the functionalist style, is protected in the site plan.
Since 2012, the Tiuru hospital has been empty and badly dilapidated. The owner of the building, Seniori-Saimaa, has applied for a site plan change, which would allow the building to be demolished.
