Imagine he spoke in the 60s. And his words are still 1000% valid and applicable to our 21st century. Every single word of his prophetic reflection describes exactly what we are living and experiencing right now. He spoke without any notes because that was the Spirit of God speaking through a Holy Person.

Even as a Lutheran, I find that Bishop Sheen's words help to inspire my faith and guide me to always seek Christ Jesus. We need more men of faith like him.
He was truly the best of his time. Many Catholics and non Catholics tuned in to his broadcasts. If you have a great love for Christ then you’ll have a love for this man.

I'm Jewish and I get so much out of Fulto J. Sheen. Always have, I used to watch him when I was young, early on I realized there is something special about this person. I still watch him, and have all these years. I have to thank G-d for people like him.

I'm not Catholic, but I admire Fulton Sheen a brilliant speaker. It's absolutely true that the devil sows discord between people. I'm always sad when Christian fight with each other. We might disagree on issues, but we should always be kind to each other, showing Christ's love.

I pray to the Saints and they have greater power with God and forward my prayers to Him. I am aware that one can pray to God individually and that is great. I saw him, briefly, outside of St. Patrick's Cathedral, when Pope John Paul was in New York, in 1979, I believe. He had bright eyes, and there was a holiness about him.

Sometimes both forces are at work and still lead us toward God. If we experience even embrace suffering in this way, it has both great meaning and impact. The bad priests were envious of Bishop Sheen and tried to pull him down, and they succeeded in the end to minimize his influence and power within the church. It seems that that is always the way it works. Those who have the abilities to change the world are pulled down by those who don't have the abilities but have the sense of entitlement to take the reigns of power and influence. Like with Princess Diana. She had the remarkable wisdom and influence to make great changes in the world (fighting against land-mines, etc) but Charles had the unearned birthright, so she was out the door.
Bishop Sheen is a dynamic, dramatic and powerful speaker. He was very brave to do this in those days. No doubt the work of the Holy Spirit. He was years ahead of his time in doing television when it was just a fledgling industry. So glad these tapes are available.
We need a man like this in charge of The Holy Roman Catholic Church today more than ever. We have a "Pope" discussing homosexuality as not a sin, cannonizing "ecological sins", allowing pagan South American rituals and bringing a heretic idol within a church... Jesus said He would send the Holy Spirit to guide His Church. He never promised we'd like it. Jesus was rejected as the Messiah because He was not the military leader Israel wanted Him to be. Remember, nothing has been decided Ex Cathedra. It's not the teaching of the Church, just an attempt to reach out to others who are also the Children of God. Either we trust Jesus or we don't. It's His Church. Read the sixth chapter of John, which is about the Eucharist. Then go to verse 66 to read about those who thought Jesus was wrong. " And they walked no more with Him."

i have always admired this wonderful fearless bishop who spoke gods truth he was not only a man of his time but seemed to have a great knowledge of these times we are now in i believe God was with this man and he was inspired by great knowledge of the human mind and the soul of a person he was in the world but not of it and thats the way it should be with all the clergy .

747epecan1 I didn't hear anything about his canonization on EWTN or Catholic radio. Except for there was a dispute between two parties where his remains will be kept, which I have heard from other sources. I do know some of the most wonderful souls who still wonder why he wasn't canonized.

And few weeks ago, my mentally ill uncle had thoughts of depression and had the feeling that no one cared about him and was about to commit suicide but luckily I talked him out of it and told him that God loves him. When people think of suicide, that's when Satan takes over. As for me, I'm mentally challenged but I never have any thoughts of suicide. Life to me is worth living.
You don't sound mentally challenged...just so you know, there are many people who claim they know & can prove that God does not exist & yet have not able to do so...those people are to me the real "mentally challenged". It is god's to take away or give... god gave us our life, so it is god who has the right to take it away, not us. Suicide is the same as murder... It is self-murder... And yes god loves everyone...

Venerable Sheen's sermon is relevant all time, and useful. Thanks venerable Fulton Sheen. His name first was known to me when seeing his name on top of Vatican Second Council Documentary in about 1965. As a seminarian in Manado Indonesia we all got one book each. I always remember his experience of being saved by Sf Mary when going to Lourdes without return cost.
We certainly do but we MUST also be like him and spread the good news and not be fooled by lies and deception. Every generation has to bring forth special people . We should not lean back and wait for someone special to come.

ASAP!! But it is imperative that the laity pray, make penance, etc for the few priests we do have become zealous and holy. They need us immensely with good communions, prayers and sacrifices to intercede for them. They're the ones mostly attacked by the devil using anyone at any given time about any subject.
