Gohan having less evil in his heart when he puts on the Saiyaman act has an interesting implication. To put on that act, Gohan isn't just pretending, he's putting all his efforts to being what he imagines a superhero would be. So it's possible to change your mindset on purpose and reduce the immediate amount of evil in your heart. Theoretically, with training, anyone can learn how to suppressive the evil in their heart and reduce Devilmans attack.

So the scale probably looks something like this: 0: Pure 0-6000: Good person 6000-10000: Has some vices but is still a good person 10000-14999: Neutral. Either good with a lot of flaws, or bad with a lot of sympathetic traits. 15000-17999: Bad person. A lot of henchmen fall into this category 18000-23999: Evil, with little to no sympathetic traits to speak of. 24000: Pure evil 24001-30000: Anything here is not just evil in a moral sense, so much as physically made of the stuff

I love the small details with this move. Won’t hurt regular goku pure heart. Hurts SSJ goku cause of the slight evil and rage that grows in a saiyans heart during a SSJ transformation.

For those wondering why SSJ Goku takes damage, it was originally stated that the further you go into the SSJ tree the more “evil” your heart undergoes. This is why SSJ4 has that Goku Black type voice

TIL Powering up adds evil to your heart, but Cell's 2nd and Frieza 3rd/100% forms are a little less evil than all their other forms.

I just love how all versions of base Goku take zero damage but once he turns SSJ he takes a tiny bit of damage because SSJ requires you to be angry and violent, basically Goku as a SSJ is like that cow meme where there is a 0,00001% chance a cow might kill you, the chance is always there, the same applies to Goku, he is good, BUT he has a microscopic will to murder you.

Holy shit. The damages changes about how much the character is evil. Goku has a pure heart so he doesn't take damages BUT, if he transforms into a Super Saiyan it doesn't have a pure heart anymore so he gets hurt, and more he's going into transformation, more he's going into his saiyan blood and not his pure heart. The antagonists take more damages because they are evil, even more with Janemba or Kid Boo because they meant to be the evil himself

I like most of the power scaling and biology mechanics they put into Tenkaichi 3 like it honestly really impressive looking back on it

I think "pure of heart" may have less to do with "good" or "evil" and more to do with the person's mental being and material desires. Vegeta, no matter where he is, has a pretty large amount of damage because no matter how "good" he is, he always desires things like stronger opponents and more power to sate his pride and exert his dominance as the Prince, whereas Goku is "pure of heart" because he's 100% sure of what he wants without any negative emotions or traits guiding said path. From that train of thought, some of the values definitely make sense.

Cool that the camera angle is the same the whole time, but zigzagging across the roster just makes things random. I think starting with the weakest and progressing to the highest would make more sense. Names would also he helpful. There's a bunch of time variations and super sayian forms in this game so its hard to tell who exactly is being hit based on just the fighter icon.

Yoo this game had so many throwbacks an details, they really cared about this game I also love the fact that SSJ get more damage then the base form because your heart gets more aggressive Perfect example is Goku, his base form gets 0 damage and as soon as he turns ssj he starts gettomg damage

Cool concept aside, can we just talk about for a second how funny some of these character portraits are? Monster Zarbon got a major laugh out of me.

Here are the evilness tiers. 0: Completely pure/innocent 1 - 5,000: A mostly good person 5,001 - 7,000: About average morality 7,001 - 10,000: Sometimes a bit of a jerk or morally dubious. 10,001 - 12,000: Chaotic neutral/very selfish/schoolyard bully 12,001 - 16,000: Actually evil 16,001 - 19,000: Very evil (probably kicks puppies for fun) 19,001 - 22,000: Sadist/super villain 22,001 - 25,500: As evil as can be (commits genocide for fun) 25,501 - 30,000: Literally made of evil or is some kind of demon Side note: A few characters should've been rated higher than they were like the Ginyu Force and Kid Buu.

It is so cool that base Goku gets nothing when SSJ Goku takes a little bit of damage. Just a tiny reference to the fact that SSJ is made off of pure anger, which is why he couldn't use the Spirit Bomb with it. That's such a cool detail

You know when you really think about it other characters like Baby should be able to theoretically use the Devilmite beam because he took over earth and assuming Spike the Devilman was still alive and on earth during that time he would be infected too which would be extremely effective against Goku because if you take the rules of the spirit bomb which states that a person in a Super Saiyan form can't use it due to the rage then in theory if Goku we're to transform into a Super Saiyan it should be able to hurt him

There's a confussion in Cell's arc, Goku totally domain the ssj and some people called that state "ssj maximun power", but no, still beeing a X50 multiplier, but their minds now are fully calmed like the base state So, Goku (end), Vegeto and Gogeta aren't more eviler in ssj form

Bt3 may have been seen as a simplistic, copy-paste fighter, but it had a lot of minor details like this that made it very interesting and fun. I’d take a dedicated game like this over Xenoverse any day of the week

It's pretty cool that the developers stayed true to Devilmans technique effect.

I have to assume some of these are also meant to take into account just how much damage someone can take. That's the only reason I can think of for someone like Roshi to take *slightly* less damage in Full Power form. (But then, Frieza randomly takes less damage less damage in Third form than in Second or Final. Maybe it's legitimately some kind of damage resistance some characters have? It does seem weird they'd program in such specific numbers for some of these...)
