Diamond compassionate Dharma is so actual and necessary for global civilization. Brothers and sisters everywhere…should not suffer… it is so simple, so purposeful explained. Can all realize we are sisters and brothers with all? Zen Buddhism is NOT an -ism… is mindfulness and is companionship with all and everything. All religions should get together and solve, heal and help the current situation on Planet Home 🌏 nationalism, religious possessiveness, narcissism and consumerism and ignorance (which is NOT and cannot be Bliss) are killing the planet. “Be the change you want to see in the world” is not a quote but represents: be practical about life and living and CARE TO CARE. There is a great difference between mindless living and mindfulness and not so many understand the importance of what purpose does emptying the mind serve. Thank you 🌱🌏🏡🌸💖🌺🌿.

I'm currently reading The Diamond That Cuts Through Illusion, and I was struggling to grasp the meaning of the Diamond Sutra, and even Thây's commentaries. But this Dharma talk helped me a great deal, and gave me a bunch of new insights. Thanks a million!

🙏 so My understanding is this: we are all one and yet nothing at all -at the same time. If we look Down to the molecular level or even a step above that- we are made of water right? Well that water has been moved from here and there all over the world through osmosis and rain. Drinking and peeing (not to be too crude). The whole earth shares the same water energy eventually. People, animals, and insects for instance, since the beginning of time, had a piece of us in them via molecules. Therefore we are all the same energy. The moment of energy from one object to another through the transfer of energy. Proton/neutron etc. …so because we are all the same energy throughout time there was no beginning or end. We are the collective history of action (rain) and ancestry through our molecular being. There is no such thing as a lifetime because we never stopped being this energy. It’s just an impermanent form we become for a but a moment then we become our children or a bug or the earth. And we must strive for the enlightenment of all beings because each being or even mineral is a part of us. But in the same token one person being enlightened means we are all a little more enlightened. …..this is my understanding in this moment so not necessarily truth so think about it on your own-as the Buddha would encourage. Haha . Does that help?

Br Phap Luu, I find your delivery of the teachings so profound and soothing. I see Thay in you of course, yet it is clear that your insights and deep understanding of the Dharma is from your own practice and experience and not just repeating texts or others teachings even Thay’s. It’s obvious just from watching your videos that your way of living oozes peace, joy, and real happiness in the present moment and every moment. You are a true inspiration for all and I have so much gratitude for every dharma talk you share. You help me realize my own aspiration to want to walk the path and that true happiness is possible 🙏🏻.

Thank you very much, I felt dimwitted and baffled reading the diamond sutra before searching for this video. I have received the "a-ha" moment I sought.

To chant Buddha is to plant "good roots and good fortune", and its merits and virtues are inconceivable. There are ten specific benefits of reciting "Amitabha Buddha" regularly, as follows: 1. Automatically realize every thought of your own heart, every cell of your body, and make yourself in a state of peace and happiness. 2. A single Buddha’s name can make us let go of all karmic conditions, recite single-mindedness, recite emptiness, and eliminate distracting thoughts. 3. Reciting "Amitabha Buddha" allows us to mention "contemplation", to connect with the highest wisdom of life in the universe; to communicate with the instinct of the self, and to bring out the potential of human beings. Fourth, reciting "Amitabha Buddha" allows us to communicate with the Buddha, that is, the mind is a Buddha, that is, the body is a Buddha; not confused, not delusional, not stupid; away from mistakes and inversions. 5. Reciting "Amitabha Buddha" can enable us to recite the goodness of our nature and achieve perfection; the pure and good nature of others can also be brought out. 6. Reciting "Amitabha Buddha" can eliminate evil and cut off bad thoughts, and it is also effective for others; it can stop others' evil thoughts and evil actions, and eliminate demons and evils. 7. Reciting "Amitabha Buddha" can eliminate omissions and suffering; comprehensive thinking and empathy; all six sense organs, self and others. Eight, reciting "Amitabha" can recite transcendence, recite light; recite immeasurable and boundless enlightenment and sobriety. 9. Reciting "Amitabha Buddha" can recall that the self-nature embraces all things in the universe, illuminates the entire space of the dharma world, and all the dharmas. 10. Reciting "Amitabha Buddha" can have full precepts, concentration, and wisdom; awakening, righteousness, and purity; all actions and aspirations are fulfilled, and merit is achieved. .

I wish he would have talked about how all our perceptions are mental constructs. If something happens in the news and some people say it is bad and some people say it is good, which is it inherently? It's neither until be construct an idea or a judgement about it; until we tie it to ourselves in some sort of self centered dialogue. The sutra is to free ourselves from this and the suffering it brings. This is how I understood it.

You may try his other Dharma Talk called "The way Out is In". I think it perfectly described how we get ourselves some self conversations, that lead to our opinions towards the world ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2pSGHUDnS3k.html

The diamond sutra contains the jewel of wisdom left by the Buddha to give hope for everyone to put an end to suffering. What suffers is the cause of our suffering. The diamond of wisdom can cut out the ego. But first we must listen!

I have tremendous difficulty grasping what "suffering" may mean in terms of mineral. For all of life, I see clearly. But how would we recognize suffering in minerals? I do not see how a mark on a stone is indicative of any suffering.

That Seen In The Diamond There is that known to mind, Not born of mind, Rather brought to mind, Having been known In a realm apart from space and time. That known in an unbounded paradigm, Which is no paradigm, And from an eternal perspective, Which is no perspective, When brought to mind, Thus limited by space and time, By perspective and paradigm, Casts but a shadow Of the dimensionless thing which is no thing, Of more dimensions than mind can conceive. The enlightened mind illuminates the shadow, Exposing and uncasting as illusory The diversions and paradoxes lurking within, Revealing the essence of that known in a higher realm. Yet word is contrived by unenlightened mind, Limited by the illusion of duality, Fettered by linear thought, Inapt to define that not thus confined. Hence when that unbound, by word is bound, Resurrected are the diversions and paradoxes Beheld in the shadow. Illusion created by illusion. Confoundingly real to the mind That does not know itself illusory. Thus, that the Bhagavan, the Sugata, The Tathagata, the Arhan, Limited by word, impart his knowing, He tells then untells. He speaks then unspeaks. He declares then undeclares That seen in the shadow. That the impartee put it to mind, Thence discern the essence.
