Got a question for a certain subset of people out there. It's about wanting something that you might not actually really want.

I'm with you Scott. I grew up Catholic, basically abandoned that in middle and high school and then became "born-again" at an Evangelical event in my late teens. I'm now in my 40's, and though I still do consider myself a Christian, I cannot identify myself with modern American Evangelical Christianity. It is broken and largely corrupt by politics and a desire for power. Christians should be known for our humility, compassion, love, and grace... and as a whole we've failed.

I don't like the word "religion" because it's from the man. For me, it's a relationship. In this world I'm glad to have someone to talk to when there's no one else. This relationship is real to me. I don't try to convert anyone, or brag about knowing the God who made the universe etc... It's just personal. Love you guys. xo

9:42 I thought this argument had been resolved with the invention of the Gutenberg press.

13:46 I think what you’re trying to say is that people at times tend to weaponise religion for their own benefit. From what I understand, I thought there was a passage in the Bible stating that people should practice in private. And that preaching under a rooftop to a group of people was in itself a sin of sorts. An example of weaponisation of religion could be saying that the turn of one’s head at the right moment was an act of God itself. The weaponisation occurs when an occurrence such as this is taken and used for political gain. This should not be up to them to say but for others to interpret of their own volition.

Sorry but your "guess" is wrong. There's no place where it says to worship or preach in private.. actually it's the opposite, it says to go out and spread the good word. I'm not with the folk that take advantage of this situation, however.

@@gwenefear8041 Matthew 6:5-6 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

I'm pretty sure you're correct. I'm into Vedanta. Specifically the Ramakrishna Mission. Their Southern California and New York branches both have great RU-vid channels with tons of talks posted almost daily. But anyways it was either there or somewhere else where the guy was saying to worship in private and not go blabbing everywhere cuz it's just gonna make you sound crazy. And he mentioned Jesus gives the same advice Edit:Swami Sarvapriyananda and Swami Medhananda are the two monks I listen to. They're great. Both have PhDs from Stanford/Harvard etc and dont speak in the creepy, monotone "guru voice" that lots of Western grifter gurus talk in. They are the real deal and the whole philosophy is based on logic and personal experience. Literally zero faith involved

I think it was mostly because Christianity is the only religion you're allowed to make fun of. But if you make fun of other religions, you get canceled.

You're definitely correct, except Buddhism and Hinduism are pretty much fair game to make fun of. Speaking of Hinduism and India, they've been under attack by that one religion for the past 1200 years. It's bad right now and all of us should do everything we can to protect Indian culture

"teaching the Bible" will turn into memorizing stuff. 1.) Name Noah's sons 2 ) how old was moses when he died? 3 ) which of the following is not an New Testament book? A. genesis b. John c. luke d. Mark Stuff like that. Teachers will do the absolute bare minimum except for some fundamentalist nutjobs

I can see religion being discussed in school by teachers who don't believe what they're saying because it was mandated. It won't be done sincerely. Kids will see through it. This is how you make atheists.
