One big benefit in the Defenders of Helm's Deep LL that you didn't mention is that you can have 1/3 of your total warriors be elf archers while the other 2/3 are Warriors of Rohan with throwing spears. Thus you get Elven shooting while the non-bow models are cheaper than elves bringing the average cost of your troops lower which allows you to field more Elf bows than standard (pure) Elf lists. Not to mention that every single of those non-bow warriors can have throwing spears. If you do have the shooting superiority with this LL (which isn't that unlikely) the enemy would have to come to you, which will eventually and inevitably bring them in range of your throwing spears... at which point you can start playing keep-away. It can get really, REALLY nasty really quickly. EDIT: Forgot to thank you guys for once again producing an amazing episode! I love hearing you talk and the visual-aid-slide-show-thingy is just perfect. Great job!

Great point! This is a legion I have been playing with a lot recently and love the idea of throwing weapons. My only issue with doing so means that your paying quite a lot for an otherwise lack lustre profile. The Rohan warrior is wonderful for 7 points, but the 9 points for a throwing weapon is sometimes pricy for the benefit. I love the idea of roughly half your Rohan to be throwing weapons. Finding the right angle to fire and fade your opponent is tricky at times and otherwise can be wasteful to have that many spears once you want to rank up and fight. That being said, it really makes the games you're allowed to walk backwards in that much more brutal, especially against D5 or lower models! Do you have much experience on the list? Any advice or tips to try, especially hero selections! I am using Theoden, Legolas and Gimli at 750 currently. Chris

On the shooting PoV I always bring the bows with my Khazad-Dum. The basic dwarf warrior with a bow is F4, D6 with an axe. They are most armies front line troops! Paying 10pts rather than 9pt to add a shield is less appealing, but not wildly so. I do find with dwarfs that extra model does matter due to lacking spears so being able to get the overlap matters.

Thanks for making this, was a good listen. I'm building a Rangers of the North army. At the 650 mark do you think Aragorn is an auto-include? Was contemplating leaving him and just having Halbarad with the banner and 16 Rangers?

Hey mate! Good question. I think the army is a tricky one because of the 3 "bigger" heroes and their points. My kinda rule of thumb is above 600 you need Halbarad every game. Arathon and Aragon are a toss up until you hit about the 700 mark where Aragon becomes the auto include Alongside Halbarad. Around 600 is where I would personally do Aragon and Halbarad but I also see plenty of people keep Arathon and more models. In my opinion your leader needs to be a rock your army can fight around and through. Aragon does that better than most and Arathon is too fragile (and also cannot be mounted, decreasing value at higher points even more) to stand up to big things in higher points as your often only striker.
