Good to see a positive take on my favourite army. One thing I will say though is I don't think the elven cloaks are that good. They only get the bonus when hiding behind terrain, not other models. So a wood elf warrior with banner can still be sniped from the back line.
one thing i really disagree with was about the oathmaker, even against zero terror he isn't useless. having a fearless stand fast in a list where all your other heroes are only courage 4 (with low will and zero courage buffs) can matter hugely once you are broken. and the nature of dunland makes breaking pretty likely in most games. a great example of this can be viewed in this battle rep ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5Ld4TsQ6GG0.html
Shot correction: The mordor troll of the catapult is not unarmed. He can choose one of the weapons a normal mordor troll can have as his basic weapon: hand-and-ahalf sword, hammer or club.
i play 800p, thranduil, legolas, tauriel and 30 mirkwood rangers.... let me tell you, it is very hard to win games with them.😂 but i love how they look.
Nice look at the army! But I would say maybe your looking at these armies in terms of tournaments were as some fun lists can be brought that are not the best! Like I never bother with march! Strike, strength heroics and shielding normal
I know Treebeard is the strongest, but for 50 points less, I fell Quickbeam actually is very nice. Extra movement usually comes handy in so many games.
@@johnfalco-auxt2555 i was also a community of one here in southeast ireland for a while but i was able to infect more people with the mesbg fever and we are playing every week now. i hope you find some victims äääh opponents too. 🤞
I feel like Boromir banner effect is way too strong. Giving +1F to himself is weird, how do you fight better while having to hold a giant flag ? And ALL Gondor troops being affected while rangers and fountain guards are already overused over regular warriors for having the better fight ? One way I would fix that, is that the effect would only affect Faramir and F3 troops (warriors, knights and veterans). So suddenly there is a good reason to play the Brothers duo since Faramir get to relevant F6 near his supportive brother and Osgiliath veterans become your F5 troops.
They are described as the most disciplined soldier yes, that's why they have Bodyguard and the heaviest armor of all humans models. But between the veterans who followed Boromir during the Osguiliath campaign and the bodyguards who remains in Minas Tirith, is it really the already overused models in the army who should be the F5 option ? I doubt so And which troop exactly are you refering to ?
So much more depth to lotr than appears on the surface. Recently got into mesbg after decades with 40k and Fantasy/aos. Chose Rohan as my faction. Can't wait to see the video on them. Keep up the good work guys.
Yay, another episode! Here are some notes that I'm writing as I watch... Aragorn's banner effect isn't strictly better than having an actual banner. On one hand, this rule isn't turned off even if Aragorn is prone. On the other hand, it doesn't count as a banner for VPs in some Matched Play scenarios. Also, only models that are within the range can get the rerolls - for example, if a spear support is in range of Aragorn but the model they're supporting is not, only the spear support's die can be rerolled; actual banners would allow either die to be rerolled. (source: FAQ for the Rules Manual) Denethor and Aragorn can't be taken in the same army. As a side note, Aragorn can't be taken with Boromir (from Minas Tirith or the Fellowship) either. (source: FAQ for the Armies of the LotR)
Hi, greate podcast, thank you! You guy mentioned that Boromir's banner could help with elves, but i dont see how - the banner boost fight value, not a duel roll. Gondor warriors with fight 4 and still cant match evles fight 5, and even more elite troops will suffer from the elves blade when they get fight 5 with banner. Am i correct?
Getting a 1/3 chance to win a tied duel roll is a lot better than losing ties automatically. The elves are still more likely to win the duels (assuming the same number of dice on both sides).
rangers, fountain guard, citadel guard are all base f4 and get to f5 thanks to the banner. they usuallay hang out in the second rank supporting with spears and bringing that juicy f5 to the fight.
I'm not a huge fan of MESBG as a game (pros and cons, but not the best game for me personally), but I do very much enjoy the models GW have pushed for dwarfs in LOTR. The models feel dorfy, the rules feel dorfy and the units can punch like a dorf. Mind, I haven't played Erebor but Moria, but it's still dorfiness.
boyz one thing to ask About Dain, if i charge one Orc with Dain and 2 Goat riders then call an heroic combat with Dain and then win the fight but kill the orc with the first attak of the goat riders do i activate dain s special rule about alwais charging?
Delgamar is your extra reroll incase the banner roll fails. Reaver backed by a Spear, +banner, +Delgamar =5 dice on a duel roll. Plus, he's your heroic move battery. I personally think he's an auto include but maybe he hasn't worked out for you.
Man these videos are really nice to have on whilst painting! i think its like my 4th one of the day lol Great video, it's nice to hear some insight on the Fiefdoms - i've got Imrahil and some skirted men to paint up soon for my force :)
