The forgotten actor at the beginning of this clip (notice no applause) is the late Bill Idelson, who was not only a fine comedy supporting actor, but an excellent writer, as well as a television producer. RIP Bill, I remember you!
Millie plays The Nanny's grandmother and on one episode she was asked about her husband and she pulled out a picture of Jerry and said this was her deceased husband!
This is what we all grew up on, and I can only speak for my beautiful wife and myself, and we still watch today, literally. This cast will never die, in a manner of speaking, hey Dick Van Dyke is still living. Plus, my wife and I watch on MeTv shows like, Bonanza, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Bob Newhart Show, the list of these 60’s and 70’s shows goes on and on, they’re not suggestive like today’s tv shows. They’re still very enjoyable.
It’s quite a strange coincidence that I just happened to stumble across this video where Carl Reiner mentions his eulogy given that he died just a few months ago. RIP Carl. He was a comedic genius.
Its always cool to see the old characters again. I don't know why, but I don't remember this was on. I completely missed it. Glad it is posted here. Everyone looks older, but holding up well considering how long its been since the show was off the air.
THis was great and thank you for uploading for us to enjoy. Those of us who grew up watching THe DIck Van Dyke show loved it and this show brings back a little of the old magic. Mary Tyler Moore has had brain surgery, she appeared on Betty White's Birthday show, no close ups but she did not look well. Her use or non use of plastic surgery is non of our business and it is sad that people feel the need to criticize what she looked like 8 years ago. Please say a prayer for her.
I thought it was cute. Obviously the tone of the show is a somewhat slower, as the characters have aged a bit. Rose Marie is, as Always, Pitch Perfect in timing. Millie did surprisingly well too. Nice job.
Mary is acting more like Mary Richards than Laura Petrie. She should have looked at some old episodes before shooting this. It is good to see her and the whole group though.
There was a very early episode of 3rd Rock From The Sun, I think the 10th ever episode, where Dick was in a similar situation. He had to write a eulogy for a man who everyone despised. Although in that case, the man had already died before Dick found out he had to do it. By the way, the man in question was played by John Mahoney, who played Martin on Frasier.
Of course they look old - they are old. I was in college in the late 60s and I look old. WE were never supposed to look old, but guess what happens. You young'uns now, it will creep up on you before you know it.
OMG! What a wonderful sight to see a reunion with Dick & Mary, Carl Reiner and Rose Mary once again! Just loved them and still do. How long did this "Revisited Show" last? I had no idea they re-teamed and came back to TV in 2010.
it's unlikely a young couple couple like the petries from the early 60s would still be living in the same house. as for duplicating the set, it would have cost nearly nothing in tv dollars.
So glad they stayed true to the characters...so many re-makes were RUINED bu some dope producers who thought they would make the cast better or inrroducenew "whacky" people.
Well I think Mary looks FABULOUS for her age, considering she's battled diabetes among other things her entire adult life. The MTM and DVD Shows were my Number One Shows as a kid watching it on Nick at Night in the 90's. I had mountains of VHS tapes recording the entire series. If TV was my family, Mary was my Mom. :-D
Mary Tyler Moore is acting like Mary Richards instead of Laura. I know she hasn't played this chreacter in over 30 years but she should have watched old tapes.
+DistroJump I think Mary's character was the only one off a bit. Everyone else was an old version of their former self. But if you think about it, Laura was a meek wife before women's lib took off, so I would expect her to grow into a stronger woman that just happens to be similar to Mary Richards. As long as she is with Rob, I don't care.
Laura wasn't just a meek wife. She was sweet but she always stood up for herself and was opinionated. I think it's a big misfire that they changed her completely into Mary Richards. Real people simply don't change their personality that much. It's nice to see the old gang together for one last time though. Rest in peace MTM.
I think it's also because she was very young on the Dick Van Dike show. It's hard to re-capture your "innocent" ingénue style once you mature. The others were already established adults.
I couldn't agree with you more. And she and Dick Van Dyke were both still obviously very physically active, or they never would've been able to pull off those dances. :)
To those who are complaining about Mary Tyler Moore's cosmetic surgeries, it's easy to say "let yourself go naturally" when you live in everyday America, but when you're in the limelight, it's something else entirely. Besides, we should all ask ourselves, is that any of our business? Are we watching this show to pass judgment on her appearance (the answer should be a big fat no) or are we here to pay homage to great classic actors? I love all these guys.
It was on CBS in 2004. Thus Ray Romano introduced it. CBS did a special in 1969 on DVD and MTM reunion They did a DVD Show retrospective in 1979 together, from the set of The NEW Dick Van Dyke Show.
wait a minute. In that old clip from the haunted cabin Rob and Laura can be in the same bed because buddy and Sally are there? But at home they have to be a separate beds?
If they were home alone in the same bed they could have sex. The optics of the same bed left too much to the imagination. Back then it was considered highly unlikely that they would have sex while Buddy and Sally were in the bed with them.
