Good advice. I completely agree. Though I must say I was very distracted by your makeup while trying to listening to what you were saying. Simple yet absolutely beautiful.
Amazing video ! I've started a "diet" two months ago now, which is like yours, to eat as much clean food as possible and exercice regularly during the week ! I'm also trying to cut sugar as much as possible, I eat eggs nearly every mornings to keep me full until lunch ! Great work, keep it up !! xxx
I just wanted to say what a huge relief it is to see people who have quite a large audience giving people accurate information like this. Hopefully one day there will be more awareness about what we should and shouldn't be eating, and thank you for helping with this!
Good to see a positive, healthy life style Sam. I'm a big fan of eating clean, have only recently cut out processed foods and im noticing changes in my skin, hair, energy, weight, sleep etc. I was curious how long did it take for you to see changes and how long have you been living this way. You look amazing as always!
Thank you so much for speaking about this! I am starting a very similar diet, my boyfriend calls it Keto, which just means very low carb, loads of veggies and meats, loads of eggs and no sugar. This actually almost brought a tear to my eye, because I adore you ladies and I am so happy that you see that this diet is wonderful. This just made me very happy, thank you so much for speaking about it.
would you be able to write us up or speak about your weekly diet for example, nothing extensive. I find talks about diets so confusing its hard to know what you should eat and what your shouldn't! thanks and congratulations on the weight loss you look incredible. Your skin and eyes look so much brighter!
Thanks for sharing Sam! You always look wonderful, and you've been such a role model to me over the years since you began the channel. Sounds like a very attainable healthy lifestyle.
So true about addressing diet. For some reason the norm is to think that as long as you exercise you can eat what you want but it doesn't work that way/ you have to watch your diet.
I absolutely LOVE this video, Sam. You really hit the nail on the head. I have taken a Nutrition class, have seen a Nutritionist, been to eating disorder clinics, etc. and what you are doing is amazing yet unclear to many people HOW it works!! VERY well done :) And you look great!!
You are such an inspiration! and don't stop what you're doing for anyone. Post what you want when you want. It's your life. and you are doing us a favor for sharing parts of your life with us. So thank you sooo much ! :) Keep up the good work.
I started that same diet 4 months ago and it truly has been the most effective diet I've ever done. Couldn't agree more, Sam. This diet is the natural way our body is built to function. Somehow modern life has made us forget how to live naturally. Glad you share this :)
Thanks for sharing this Sam! I've been doing something similar, and am noticing such a difference...not just in how I look, but in how I feel! I love how you said "If you can't pick it or kill it...don't eat it." I read labels and if I can't pronounce it, I don't put it in my body. You look gorgeous as always :-)
Finally, someone who gets it. So happy for you!! These eating habits will not only effect body composition but it can radically improve health. MakeUpGeek is currently experiencing autoimmune related issues and is adapting to a whole food diet as well. I hope the good word continuers to spread through you lovely ladies.
So true: you can workout like crazy, but if you don't eat properly, you'll never loose weight, I've seen this on My own skin. Healthy food is the way!! Thanks Sam , very inspirational!Anna
Has Tanya been doing it with you guys? I've been wondering the past several videos if she's done something different but I can't quite put my finger on what. :)
You look amazing! I totally agree with the eating! Nutrition is key in fitness, they go hand in hand! I have eliminated all processed foods in my diet and eat pretty clean. And I've never felt better. I do the Beachbody p90x/x2 workouts (p90x3 at the moment, which are amazing!) and I've never been in better shape! Keep up the good work Sam.
very good advice Sam! I did not expect to hear so many true words :) i am very happy for you, you look amazing! But please dont forget to eat fruit, even though there is a lot of sugar in fruits, they also contain fiber which slows down the insulin peak greatly and thus the sugar is not harmless for your diet! It is the same with whole wheat products! Watch out for fruit juices though, they are pure sugar, no fiber (even when you drink juice with pulp, there is too little fiber in the pulp that is left in the juice) thus making your insulin peak just like a choco bar! Love you and have the greatest year 2014!
Yup. Been eating this way for a little over a year...weight comes off so easy without even trying. One side effect about 4 months in is hair loss (telogen effluvium) it's totally normal, and th hair will grow back. It just. Way of it body resets itself. It goes back to normal after a few months. I have a video on my hair loss while eating this way if anyone is interested.
Cereals are not bad I guess if you do not go for the flavoured ones. I have unflavoured cereals (so really no taste itself at all) but cooked it as Asian congee way. So I add a bit of salt and some green vegetable (I always use spinach) and in the end spray some coriander (if you hate it you can also use spring onion). :)
Thats brill well done although I thought u looked amazing already! Would love to hear more about your transformation in future like meal ideas etc, again well done sam!
PixiwooMadness as a vegetarian (if you still are one) would you be able to give me examples of your breakfast, lunch and dinner options?? i believe you said before you were a vegetarian so i'd love to hear your healthy options for protein! thanks
Instead of traditional salad dressing, I use warmed "goopy" seasoned, mashed beans. I add a bit of water to thin them out so they coat the entire salad. It's looks and sounds sketchy, but tastes good. (I assume people who use dressing aren't no-bean paleo.)
Plain greek yogurt is very high in protein. I like to mix greek yogurt with salsa or hummus or both for salad dressing. I like a lot of dressing, and I like creamy dressing, and this way I can satisfy that without feeling bad emotionally or physically like Ranch can make me feel. Hummus, oth, has a lot of carbs though, I think pixiwoo is doing low carb.
This is awesome! Definitely agree with everything you said about diet. I had one question...unfortunately, nothing related to diet. Have you been modelling for Topshop???? I saw 2 massive pictures on the wall behind the cash counter (here in Dubai) and the girl in them looks exactly like you!!!! Exactly like you!! I got overexcited and was eating my husband's brain the whole time after that that it is Sam from Pixiwoo. So really wanted to clarify it. :)
I always thought you were beautiful, whatever your weight was, but I really hear you as a woman about how we can feel bad watching pictures or videos of ourselves! I'm so happy this "diet" works for you. I'm slowly transitionning towards it too, and though I didn't lose any weight yet, I've found that my skin looks much better, my energy has increased and I digest better! Anyway, thank you for being so inspiring in every other ways! :-)
you look absolutely amazing, your brother is spot on re diet AND exercising 'smart', he will know what I mean! Sugar and fat combined are the problem, not fats alone. wish it had'nt taken me 20 years to learn this!!
Thanks, Sam! I'm really unhappy with the state I've gotten myself into; I snack a lot on very sugary and stodgy things, so my weight is climbing and my skin is bad. I've recently started trying to change my lifestyle, and so it's great to hear how you've managed to make a few simple changes that made a big difference :)
I am trying to stick to a paleo diet. I always stayed with full fat milk preferably organic. My mom grew up on a dairy farm and the skim was fed to hogs to fatten them for butcher. I love your brothers channel and have been watching for at least a year now. I especially like the nutrition tidbits. Another bit about a good fat/protien diet is your hair will be stronger. Since I have limited the junk my hair has gotten thicker and longer. I am currently at waist length and shooting for hip length again. Take care and have a wonderful New Year.
It doesn't sound like a diet. It's just a change in lifestyle and I totally agree with avoiding sugar and process foods. I have also been adding smoothies and green smoothies to my diet, I fell so much better now :)
Such great TRUE information!!!! Thank you for sharing. Seeing as how you have so many followers, this was a wonderful way to reach any lives! You are awesome!!!!
I changed my diet this year to include high-fat, high protein foods and eliminated carbs and most starch. By doing that alone I lost almost 40lbs in 4 months, and I've kept it off for three months. Next month I start to add ecxercise. I don't think of it as "a diet" but as "My system of eating for the rest of my life". It's the ONLY thing that ever worked for me.
theroomstops thank you!! It really is the best way to eat. After going through sugar withdrawal for a week I started to feel amazing. I have more energy and I can walk up stairs without getting winded. Now to add the exercise and lose the last 40lbs!
***** Yes I know. I get my carbs from vegetables. I do eat some starchy veggies like pumpkin and squash, and the rest of my veggies more than make up my carb needs for the day. I've never been in better health.
I quit sugar from Sarah Wilson is really good and explains it all really well. The same as what you are saying and it`s nice that others are realising that low-fat and skimmed produce is not good at all. Fab!
I'm glad you're doing this diet, as so many people should do if they want to lose weight (sorry if I sound preachy). Another way that's still part of your diet is to cut wheat out, as well. Things like breads, pastas, beer (because yeast is wheat). You can find alternatives, like rice-made products if you still want your starches. But cutting wheat out of your diet will work tremendously! It's worked for my mom, it's worked for me, so yeah. Totally recommend that.
Great comment! People don't realize the adverse effects of wheat on their body energy wise and how just cutting that out can really make a huge difference.
Thank you so much for doing this video! I'm a new mum and I desperately want to lose some weight... a lot of weight actually. I love how you simplified it and honest about what you do. I love that you only work out for 40 min rather than spending hours at the gym everyday. Who has that kind of time?! You look great! :)
I started this "diet " back in October and have had very good results. I've cut out all gluten which eliminates a lot of carbs and thus spikes insulin a lot less. Good job!
Wasn't that Josie's saying from one of the body talk episodes? is John her personal trainer too? That's pretty awesome if so! On another note, glad you're enjoying the diet. I've lost a stone on slimming world, following a similar sort of diet. Still more to go but I'll get there!! X
I know it takes a lot of dedication and hard work. You looked beautiful before and beautiful now, but being 'healthier' does feel better doesn't it? Way to go girl!
My mom works with this and I'm sooo happy that someone i loook up to finally talks about that good fats aren't bad for you! I really believe in this diet, even though I don't follow it so well:P So I just wanna say thank you Sam for talking about this so more people can know that fat is good for you!:)
Congrats Sam you looks fantastic! I don't really do New Years resolutions but I want to get in better shape and this has really inspired me! I will miss my Cheetos though lol
You look fab and are obviously much healthier due to eating better foods. Go Sam!! I've lost over 4 stone so far and have another 4 or 5 to go and am feeling much better already!!
Love watching your videos, you guys are amazing! :) Please do an updated video on recommended foundations (drugstore & highend) for dry skin please? It'd help me out a lot! :)
What are a few of your snacks? I find it hard to just eat an entire meal and be done for the day, I'd rather just pick at the food as I go. I eat a lot of almonds, walnuts, raisins etc. But I'm wondering if you have any good snacks that are not "nut" related??
Hi Sam, I was jut wondering how much you've applied this to coffee/alchohol/dressings? Also I've been watching your videos since you started on RU-vid and you've always looked gorgeous! Xxx
Yes! Finally, a beauty blogger who is telling people about real nutrition. High fat diets and avoiding carbs really is the way to go. Thank you for this video!-Hello Ehya
Thanks for this video, you look amazing! Are you calorie counting at all? I've been trying to eat 'clean' and as you say full fat is definitely better for you than low fat options. I've been trying to calorie count too using the my fitness pal app but the weight is coming off so slowly, wondering if I'm not having enough calories? I'm 5ft 4 & weigh 9 stone 12, been having 1220 calories a day. What do you think? Thanks Sam :) Melissa xx
+PixiwooMadness There are 3 components to fat reduction - exercise, diet, and motivation. One place I found that successfully combines these is the Triple trim formula (check it out on google) without a doubt the best diet that I've heard of. look at the before and after pictures and amazing testimonials.
I'm sooo happy for you Sam that you've found something that works for you! I just looked through your instagram pics and you look soooo amazing!! I can definitely tell from looking at your face in this video that you are much slimmer. You looked stunning before but I'm happy that you're happy with your new sexy bod :)
Thank you SO much for doing this video. I have been trying to decide which "diet" plan to start, but this lifestyle change sounds like the way to go. Plus, seeing your results has been inspirational AND motivating! Thank you again! :o)
With respect, your comments concerning insulin and "burning fat" are incorrect. Insulin is not only produced by glucose consumption, it is also produced to metabolize fructose (in fruits), and carbohydrates which are not found in grains, wheats, legumes, rice etc but also many vegetables (corn, carrots, potatoes, pumpkin, peas) and protein foods (milk). An increase in insulin production does not directly cause a decrease in fat burning. have watched some of your brother's videos and he is also incorrectly advising people at times re physiological/dietary issues. I do love your make up videos but please don't misinform your audience about matters that they should be seeking proper education on by medical professionals.
You have always been gorgeous, but feeling better and having more energy, well you deserve it!! Keep up the good work :D I follow the same food philosophy, if you can't pick it or kill it, don't eat it!
I found this really helpful and interesting. My problem is not saying no to chocolate if somebody offers it to me in my flat.I'm good one week then bad the next.I wish I had more motivation to stick to a regime religiously and turn it into a habit. Then I wouldn't have to think about what I was doing and just do it. Will check out your bro's channel xx
Thanks Sam! This sounds quite similar to BodyTrim which I have been on for years now and it is super easy to maintain and doesn't involve heavy cardio everyday. Just like what your workout sounds like, you just need to get moving :) xxxx
Very well done girls! Great inspiration. I'm currently on my 14th week with a personal trainer and i must agree it is pretty useless if you don't have a good diet.
I've been in Weight Watchers for eight months and I've been with a personal trainer for a year and a half now and while it is true that diet is of utmost importance as well as exercise it means nothing if you're not willing to give it an effort. Anyone can SAY that they're on a diet or watching their weight or trying to be healthy but it takes a lot more courage to accept that a transition to a new body and new mindset takes time and consistent effort. Failure is always an option (I sure went through a few months of losing and gaining the same ten pounds) but sticking by yourself and choosing to make good choices day in and day out is the real kicker :D Don't give up everybody! Educate yourself and then most importantly act on it!
You have always been beautiful but You look even more Fabulous, Your Glowing! Your new lifestyle definitely agrees with you Sam. I am going to check out your brother's channel. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.
Lchf paleo is really the best way to feed ourselves and also loose extra weight :D i have lost nearly 26 kilos eating the good fats and non labled food (mostly) for 9 months... I've been maintaining the same weight for 1 and a half year! So good to hear the more and more people are being convinced of it as well!!
can you do a list of all the foods you completely cut back on? i feel it would be really helpful for those of us trying to lose some weight and would really appreciate it xx you look fab by the way!
I cut up veggies a head of time so they're easily accessible when I'm in a hurry so I won't make bad choices...same for apples, bananas, grapes, nuts. I always make sure I'm fully stocked with foods that are good for my body. Adding different exercise movements is helpful, too! Way to go Sam!!
It's really true! I started eating "clean" and cut out all processed foods over year ago. I lost about 10 pounds and have been able to keep it off! Mostly oats, fruits, vegetables, nuts and as many green things I can find lol. Glad you started this.....you will start feeling so great when you put healthy things into your body!
good for you! I'm an exercise junkie, though to be honest I don't get around to it more than 3 times a week. but I feel that for me personally that is perfectly adequate. I eat what I want when I want but I mostly cook myself which makes a huge difference because the meals are not just full of flavour potentiators and crap like that.
Yep it's all about "diet" (having lost 100 lbs) and you absolutely HAVE TO accept the fact that it's portion control for the rest of your life if you want to keep the weight off, thus, it's a life style change. Eating healthy usually just goes naturally with it however people can eat "Paleo" and other such clean eating programs and not lose an inch because they're eating more than their body will burn. That's the only way i was able to lose and keep it off is portion control.
