I only learned about calisthenics one year ago, but before that I was a regular gym goer for weight/strength training. During the lockdowns of the pandemic, I focused on pullups and pushups at home. I had no knowledge about calisthenics skills such as muscle ups and front levers prior to a year ago. So yes, I started last year with enough basic strength to attempt calisthenics skills for the first time :)

Hey, so I recommend being able to do at least 10-12 reps of proper form pullups, 2-3 sets. Same for pushups, but the pullups are the more important indicator to me. Also, exercising your core through hanging leg raises is a good start. Then you can start doing progressions of calisthenics skills such as muscleups and front lever. But the secret sauce to really make you strong for calisthenics is doing weighted pullups. I'll be coming up with videos on these things soon. 🙂
