Hello Mr.Nair, Occasionally you come up with very beautiful and topical issues. Today's topic - Disinvestment,Monetisation and Privatisation - is one. While complementing you for a very objective narration of the topic, I request you to do a show on how public sectors became sick. Particularly, BJP's contribution and responsibility for the sickness of PSUs.

Very cunning government, why PSUs are not profite making, it is because of the mismanagement of the government. The government does not want to take up challenges in these failed PSUs and want to go only the easy way so what else privatization.

The core idea which Private sector follows is that of performance based incentive. Unfortunately our political leaders are only in favour of privatisation but does not believe in performance as the base for increase in salary and benefits. There is no measure taken to cut cost and reduce expense to balance out the ratio of revenue vs expense. All that was followed was borrow today and let someone else pay...

Yes. To buy public sector undertakings public sector banks will fund Ambani n Adani. Once they buy the public sector undertakings all the loans taken by this corny capitalist will become NPAs. Once it becomes NPA, no way you can recover the loan and all these assets will be property of Ambani n Adani without any single rupee investment.

@@user-bf6ul8ok1s they already raised station ticket 10x times from INR 5 to INR 50/- so doesn't matter. Even if they don't improve services, they know nothing will happen. Railways are and always have been natural monopolies. It doesn't make sense to have multiple trains between two destinations because your railway track is limited unlike Road or Air. And you look at any Government in the world, even in countries like Japan, you will find that those countries have monopolies. In theory, they may go to any route but it doesn't happen like that. Lot of training and stuff is involved. If ever possible, have a chai or coffee with a train driver or even a metro driver and you will know a lot.

Privatise profits and socialise losses first appeared in the context of Lehman crisis of 2008 in the USA۔ Private firms collapsed۔ The US government came forward through bailouts۔ It was an attempt to save capitalist system۔ In India, if a private company would fail, the government would come forward with public money۔ Remember Yes Bank bailout۔ Excuse would to save jobs but now the government is selling assets and people turning jobless۔ Both ways, corporates win over law and logic۔

Government should not think in terms of Return on Investment. Profit is the moto of private sector, but the public sector is promoted only for economical and social inclusion and social security which will be totally ditached. Ours is a socio-economic country with population more 135 crores inclusive of educated masses from deprived class. The PSB are providing huge employment oppertunities to the educated masses. Selling of PSE/PSB one by one is a big blow to the social sector and financial inclusion. If government is thought of reforming the financial sector, well, government may think of any viable method without affecting the core structure of public sector charactor.

If government invest in anything, it is public money. It doesn't come from the pockets of cheap politicians we have. If government invest on infrastructure items like hospitals, schools collage etc.. they should not expect any monetary profits from it. These are the prime responsibility of any government. Similarly, if any road or flyover is made it is an asset created for the nation. Returns expected out of it should be for only maintaining it , not for making profits. Enough taxes are being colleted for essential like defense etc. Balance should go to welfare of the society. If government ignores the basic purpose of it's existence, as what is happening today , it will result in the total destruction of this nation. I don't think that we are far from it. Almost there perhaps.

They have but why to use your own money when banks will give money at drop of hat. Most of them have probably funneled money abroad. And the reason is simple. The taxes there are much less than here. And if it is a tax haven, then even less so. corporatefinanceinstitute.com/resources/knowledge/other/what-is-tax-haven/ Those who think it is only individuals who deal in tax havens are highly mistaken, most of them are done by companies, including Fortune 500 companies. So when they do, why would our companies remain behind. No logical reason.

there will be no takers / buyers for any of the public sector units , including the profitable ones . Basically no one likes to invest in a PSU mainly because of its bad , corrupt and lethargic work culture , which they do not want to inherit along with the physical assets. While offering the PSUs for sale , the Govt. inadvertently says that that they would protect the interests of the employees which sends a terrifying signal to the private investor that the culture of PSU is also forcibly transferred to the investor , which drives them away as in the case of Airindia. Govt should keep quiet and leave the employees issue to the new management , otherwise the millstones around the neck of the Govt will never be removed pushing the whole nation into economic disaster soon..

Govt. need to be there for people’s benefit and social good is one good aspect which is why we all agree to pay little more tax as our income grows. Private businesses by their very nature are not for pooling money for social cause, they are for pooling money to make more money.

This is a beginning۔ The government can sell۔ The buyer(s) will suck the airlines by siphoning money away and then declaring bankruptcy۔ The government would buy back junk to save jobs۔ Drama would continue۔

1st Permanent employment should be retracted from the public sector, 2nd top management of these PSU's should be on a contractual basis, they met a target in predefined period they get everything, gets to be the hero and handed over another PSU's also else should be sacked.

Extremly contradictory your explanation which already Duped by most Private Planters what easy to seen mind blowing amount of Bánk NPA and Tax exemption to Corporates. So, Why you are Not suggesting to this Government that, Look Mr. you are unable to handleiding the Country and failed all corners, so, without further any JUMLA, you better to step down and offers to fittest person's who can safe the Boat & can confidently DRIVE.
