Cory there is a big difference, The logos is the written word that is God because we know him threw his written word his attributes are written we know him and see him and understand him by his written word. The Rhema is the voice of God, when you hear the voice of the Holy Spirit that’s the Rhema that backs up the logos. The Rhema is different because God sometimes only allows those who enter into his presence to hear him. You can see the logos in the 10 Commandments Exodus 20:1-17 . God wanted all of Israel to see him in his word. You can see the Rhema in 2 corinthians 12:4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable “WORDS”, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Daniel 12:4 “But you, Daniel, shut up the “WORDS”, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” The Rhema is unwritten and is only revealed to the body not the world. You can also see the Rhema in Revelation 10:4 And when the seven thunders had sounded, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down.” Can you see the difference???? Only those who have spiritual hearing can hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. Those of you who refuse to believe The Holy Spirit is active in the church outside of salvation are deaf and can’t hear the Rhema. The word of knowledge and the word of wisdom are the Rhema which is the unwritten WORD of the Holy Spirit . His voice is for the edification of his body the church!!!!!! The Rhema and logos work together as one!!!!!

I listened to someone I respect teach about logos vs rhema saying that logos was the written word, but rhema was a word taken into the heart and believed. He also mentioned that some say rhema is simply a spoken word. What was funny was that every example he showed of rhema being "special" were also examples where the words were spoken. I think this is the correct understanding and makes perfect sense for why they are used when they are. For instance, when Jesus responded to the Adversary, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every rhema that comes from the mouth of God." Obviously, "from the mouth" is not a written word. "My sheep hear my voice", right?

I think you're confused and trying to confuse other Christians. Logos is the written word of God, the Bible... Rhema is an instruction or direction from God on a specific issue. Logos eg By His stripes I was healed. Rhema ..Go wash yourself in the Jordan River Seven times amd your flesh will be restored...

I'd certainly put this in the "hot take" category. Rhema, which is related to our word "rhetoric," focuses on the spoken character of the words, the quality of the speech, the persuasive power. Logos, which is related to our word "logic," focuses on the meaning of the words, the understanding behind them, the intention of the thought. They both mean "word" but the connotations are very different. Definitely not interchangeable. Honestly, I think Jesus as logos and the Holy Spirit as rhema is a clever analogy, although it is only an analogy.

Hi, Wow. I thought the same. Logos is Jesus as the WORD Rhema-is the message ignited, revealed by the Holy Spirit to believers on different times. Graphe- is the Scriptures, Bible. This is just how it enlighten my little mind. So I prayed for Rhema from the Holy Spirit so I can use it in His POWER . Am not trying to be smart, but this is just how they are revealed to me so I can understand. But I will read more on this..

Coming from a Pentecostal background Rhema was used to denote a personal Holy Spirit power backed revelation of the Word that was superior to the dead letter of the Word!!! One self proclaimed prophet was right. "We always want to go past where God is" !

Corey you need to do better than that! Rhema - is the word the Holy Spirit quickens to a specific person for a specific situation. Logos - is the general word of God that communicates his ability, the life we need to live and the things we must do…

Hey Corey, How about answering my question 🤔 Why is there NO Condemnation for those in Christ..?? Does being in Christ have anything to do with being victimized by Devils...?
@smartchristians
@smartchristians 2 года назад
Sorry, I didn't see your question. But the answer is, if you are in Christ, then it's because you have placed your faith in his atoning work on the cross. Because of that, God declares you "Justified" (which means to be in right standing before Him) and if Justified, there can be no condemnation.

I hear you my friend, but there just is no lexical backing to that. If that were true then every time we see the word Logos and make it mean as referring to Jesus, then there are passages that wouldn't make sense (such as 2 Cor 10:11)

They are not always used inter changeably There are two primary Greek words that describe Scripture which are translated word in the New Testament. The first, logos, refers principally to the total inspired Word of God and to Jesus, who is the living Logos. The second primary Greek word that describes Scripture is “Rhema”, which refers to a word that is spoken and means “an utterance.” A Rhema is a verse or portions of Scripture that the Holy Spirit brings to our attention with application to a current situation or need for direction.
@smartchristians
@smartchristians 2 года назад
there just really isn't any difference in the two words. Though the two words can be used differently, but both have the same definition and throughout Koine Greek History, has been used interchangeably

@@smartchristians For the word (logos) of God is quick, and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12) “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word (logos) of God, which liveth and abideth forever” (1 Peter 1:23). The following passages of Scripture provide insight into the Rhema of God: “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word (Rhema) of God (Romans 10:17) “And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word (Rhema) of God” (Ephesians 6:17) “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word (Rhema)” (Ephesians 5:25-26)

I think rather than dismissing the connotations by aligning or associating the word Rhema with a denomination-why not put your biases aside and spend the time Corey? For example Wikipedia (take it with a grain of salt and shine the light of God’s Word on it) Rhema (ῥῆμα in Greek) literally means an "utterance" or "thing said" in Greek. It is a word that signifies the action of utterance.” It’s easy to dismiss the distinction because you may be doing this video not because it matters to you but because it was asked of you. I think you can do better in your answer by studying the scriptures and digging deeper in the word. Distinctions need to be made. What does the Bible say about utterances, are they logos or rhema. I implore you to expound upon these two words further. Dismissing the question with a perfunctory answer doesn’t help anybody but yourself. (just like a 5 minute alter call and the end our a cookie cutter church service). Proverbs 3:5-6 oh btw stop using logical fallacies like ad hominem on other denominations in order to justify your theology. But hey we all do it right? 😂

We will take a simple little verse and show you why it is not addressed to the natural man, Ecclesiastes 3:15: “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.” The “natural man” cannot grasp that, for to him reality is based only on the evidence of the senses. The man of reason could justify the verse’s end, saying if it has any meaning then the writer must mean recurrence. The sun comes every day and the moon completes its cycle and the seasons come and go. If we took a picture of the universe today, the scientists can compute how long it will take to return to this point in the picture. So the intellectual man could justify the verse; but that is not what is meant, for it is addressed not to the man of reason or the man of sense, but to the man of Imagination. What is it all about? “That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been, and God seeks what has been driven away.”

Rhema is the written word…logos is the spoken word (logic/reasoning) of God Who is also Jesus
@tmum2160
@tmum2160 Год назад
Respectfully this is very incorrect. Both the argument that Rhema and Logos can be interchangeable and the belief Logos is simply written word vs. Rhema is spoken word have come about from very shallow research of which a lot of Christians are guilty. I encourage you to dig deeper. Learn Greek, don’t just look up words in software. Ask yourself what kind of word is Legos, noun or verb, what kind of noun, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Declension, and what does that mean is it singular or plural? How does it relate to a word like lego? What is the history of the word? What are all the examples of the word etc. Do the same for Rhema. There is deeper meaning to the words and they aren’t just used interchangeably and they don’t just refer to written and spoken or Jesus and Holy Spirit. I challenge you to study the Greek language unbiasedly, not to prove a theology but to dig for the truth.

Both Greek words of rhema and logos have do with "sayings" or "words", for according to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, rhema (used in the Bible 68 times) means "an utterance; by implication a matter of topic; with a negative naught whatever", and in which at John 6:63, Jesus told his wondering apostles (when Jesus said that "whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me", causing them to wonder, verse 56, being figurative, NOT literal), that "the sayings ("sayings", Greek rhema) that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life". At John 12:47, 48, Jesus told the Jews: "But if anyone hears my sayings (Greek rhema) and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I came, not to judge the world, but to save the world. Whoever disregards me and does not receive my sayings (Greek rhema) has one to judge him. The word (Greek logos) that I have spoken is what will judge him on the last day." The Greek word logos (used in the Bible 330 times), according to Strong's Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, means "something said, by implication, a topic (subject of discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive.......the Divine Expression (i.e. Christ)" According to Insight on the Scriptures, under the topic of "Word, the", it says that "in the Scriptures (it) most frequently translates the Hebrew and Greek words da·var´ and lo´gos. These words in the majority of cases refer to an entire thought, saying, or statement rather than simply to an individual term or unit of speech. (In Greek a ‘single word’ is expressed by rhe´ma [Mt 27:14], though it, too, can mean a saying or spoken matter.) Any message from the Creator, such as one uttered through a prophet, is “the word of God.” In a few places Lo´gos (meaning “Word”) is a title given to Jesus Christ."(Vol 2, pg 1200) At John 1:1, 2, the Greek word logos refers to Jesus Christ as God's chief spokesman, as "the Word" (Greek "ho Logos") as a title, as the foremost one whom he uses to reveal prophetic statements to mankind. However, it need be noted that many Bibles do NOT translate EXACTLY how John 1:1, 2 is to be accurately rendered, making John 1:1, as the King James Bible reads, that "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". This would make it appear that "the Word", Jesus Christ is God, but upon a closer examination, such is NOT the case. Why ? Because, in all three occurrences of "Word", the Greek word "ho", meaning "the" precedes it, so that it reads as "the Word", showing as applying to a specific person, in this case, Jesus Christ, while before "God", the Greek word "ho" (the) is before it in the first and third times, but NOT before the second occurrence, so that it accurately reads there as "a god". That is why at Revelation 19:13, it calls Jesus Christ "the Word of God", NOT "the Word as God" or "God the Word".(Note: Jesus is God's chief spokesman, in which God's name is Jehovah, see Isa 12:2, KJV, and as such, was given by Jehovah God the "once in a lifetime" privilege of giving the "Revelation" to the apostle John, see Rev 1:1)

The saying is true, “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing”. In John 1:1, the definite article is where it is in the Greek because that’s how you say “the Word was with God and the Word was God”. Repent of this Jehovahs Witness false teaching. Come to the biblical Jesus, that you may say to Him as Thomas did in John 20:28, “my (the) Lord and my (the) God!” With definite article and everything!
