I think Nexus is not a major manufacturer, it's a google project name for series of device which they partnered with various manufacturer. The project goal was to build a low-mid end, premium feel, snappy, no bloatware device, using stock android. They ended the whole nexus in 2016 and shift to the pixel project.

Android is not sold to other android phone manufacturing companies. It is actually an open source OS just like linux. Companies just accept tems and conditions, take the OS, modify the user interface and install it on their phones.

Always used an Android...Samsung to be exact. The reason I am even inquiring the difference between Android and iPhone is security issues. I've been told so many conflicting info about anti virus apps for Android and how the security issue is a no issue with iPhone. I have not been given solid proof just opinions. Wish I could find information on which phone is safe against hackers .... thank you for your information.

Team iPhone from Nepal. But being as an App developer I have developed more Android Apps (Android OS). However, iOS app development is easy but royalty is high in iTunes. BTW, I have both Android and iPhone. For debugging I use lots of Xaomi Mobiles, I buy new Android mobile every 5 months. For the iPhone, I use for years and years.
