The differences in speaking Hawaiian and how Kamaka Pili got into the news

An idiom I was told that sticks with me… or maybe it was more of an insult than an idiom 🤭… was that our kūpuna used to call girls who were… uhm… too “friendly” with all kine plenty guys “Lehua”, and the reason they called those girls “Lehua” was because Lehua attracts bees and those bees fly from flower to flower to flower and that’s what those girls are like. Every time I meet someone named Lehua now, that’s all I can think of lol, & how it wasn’t a name parents gave their daughters often because of that reason.
