i’m 28 and my oldest sibling is about to be 40. older siblings always get more discipline and attention and the younger get less rules and attention. there’s always a softness and tiredness that comes with aging parents haha

Got to meet all dem n was "groupies" back den 😊 Those was the good ol days 😉 something Kwai told us back then and ive always appreciated n held on to was this "Show me how and I'll show you I can, Tell me I cannot and I'll show you how!" Mahalo piha for the life lessons that you guys have given us thru the music! ❤❤
Iams choice of songs he sang was all fire. He sang songs I hated growing up and I still hated in my adulthood but the way he sings them brings a refreshing sound to my ears. I’m glad he sang cool down for his final song that song is so awesome. I love you Kolohe kai❤

In a way it’s our kuleana as kanaka to keep our culture alive, through olelo, lawai’a, hula, or anything Hawaiian. Our kupuna that weren’t allowed to speak olelo did so out of defiance to keep it alive and if it wasn’t for them, the language would be gone. So to honor them and keep our culture alive, we should all do something that helps to perpetuate it.
Statistically, local Hawaiians (both pure and mixed-race) make up only 10-20% of Hawaii's total pop. In fact, the states purely indigenous Hawaiian pop. without Asian or other admixture is below 5%. That means less than 95% of the people commenting about her opinion have very little Hawaiian DNA. Their ancestry is primarily Asian and that is why the language was not preserved other than a few phrases and words. Sadly, mixing of Hawaiians with others will eventually mean the local pop has very little Hawaiian DNA but will claim the Hawaiian people's culture and legacy. This is called Ethnocide.
what Hawaiian language are you teaching babooze expert I don't see you correcting the tourist on how to use hawaiian words, you should talk to Hailama Farden, and other hawaiian speech experts babooze
Pretty much everything wrong with this world today. All these “influencers” are just an easy way out. And they aren’t afraid to show it and brag how hard they’ve worked for it 🤦🏽♂️😆 That’s the world today. So easy to make money. There was a time where you had to hunker down, bite the bullet and “actually work” for your money. Show production. Prove that you are right for the job. By showing that you have the skills and knowledge. Today?? Ride a skateboard and drink some oceanspray cranberry juice, dance with your a$$ hanging out, do some yoga with your legs wide open towards the camera with a cameltoe. Absolute garbage…..
welina mai loa oe i kekahi mea kokua nou i kou olelo puana? keu ka nahenahe kou olelo like ka olelo kanaka. makemake wau e olelo like me oe. pono wau e lohe i kekahi mea recording no hoi. pehea? hiki? mahalo iesu pu aloha
But lets be real. If Hawaii no longer have Costco, walmart, car dealerships, home depot, military bases etc...how in the world are we gonna keep up with the rest if the world? Also, Hawaii is already unique. Most of everyone in the world has an idea of what Hawaii is. And like every other state, each one has its own uniqueness. Ur mad for mad reasons.
Good concept. Unfortunately, most people are not able to grow or even sustain an asset that is handed to them. They will be broke again. A Tacoma with a lift is more important to a young local braddah in paradise. Education is the key. Hawaii public education can be excellent and is free, but one has to want it and know how to get it. This is where strict parenting is crucial. 🤙
I was told that this is because the unique dialects per island had to make way for a more unified version after the 1820s when Roman Catholic Missionaries introduced the written form of Hawaiian using Latin letters. The Aliʻi would also circuit their way across Hawaiʻi nei, so it makes sense that they would have wanted to be verbally understood widely after Kamehameha's rule.
