In school I’m a teacher’s pet so loads of teachers like me but in dance they care about me and my singing teacher is like a friend sometimes but my ballet teacher thinks I’m ok.
My teacher is definitely the laid back one. It makes the class super fun though, because she's always telling funny stories. I'm not in any top notch ballet studio or anything. It's just a local studio, but it's super fun.
I went to a local studio and quit ballet because she was the strictest teacher and made you do 30 push-ups if you were one minute late. My grandma is always late soo... she made it so boring. Most of the girls were in middle school and i was in 3rd grade.
I go to a strictly Vaganova-based Russian ballet school. I have one teacher that is extremely strict like that, but will yell at us in a thick accent or in Russian. Thank goodness I have another Russian teacher who is strict, but much more laid back. The slightest mistake on your port de bras, and you are done with the strict one.
In my ballet school, the ballet 4 and ballet 5 girls are put in the same class, and everyone gets the choreography immediately and I’m just there blankminded not knowing what I’m doing
I have a ballet teacher that never shows up and treats us like five year olds in choreography but she thinks that we can’t memorize a combinations. The teacher that normally teaches us has ya never do barre but we do choreography for the whole class
Wow! You would never do barre? Barre is important to warm up your body and to perfect basic technique, My point teacher says that she’s only ever seen one person be horrible a barre and be perfect in the center and she says that it’s like really important to do barre work
That’s what my teacher does every single week! She doesn’t even let us mark it, she says the combination then we have to memorize it and perfect it in once chance.
Maybe you could do also the teacher, who sponsor one person in the class the most and put this person always in the spot🙄 And the teacher who talks the half of the time in class about his life Or the teacher who can‘t explain
@idk yet they wouldn't neccesarily say we were fat, or needed to lose weight, but they would tell us not to eat certain foods etc, not to let our bellies stick out, and if they saw us / heard about us eating say.. Popcorn, dessert, or candy, (before class / while on break) they'd comment or give us those judging eyes. Before holiday season, they'd talk to us about not eating too much turkey, bread, or dessert. I remember getting praised more when I lost weight, (praised on my tequnique, and had recieved more attention in general the more I lost) but weight like,, the number we were, was never discussed. We weren't weighed, or told.we were "fat" But the skinner ones, were definetly praised more. I suffered from eating disorders (Anorexia, leading into Bulimia) from age 15-21. So I suffered a lot due to it. Ballet was very traumatic for me, and even friends I've spoken to recently agree it was traumatising.
One of the teachers at my studio is a strict teacher but will also talk half the time about something random once she gets started on something. I don't hate her but shes definitely my least favorite teacher. She will just talk about something random for 20 minutes and we will all just be standing there waiting for her to continue class. She also scares me because I feel like the slightest mistake will make her yell at me and single me out. I know that kind of tough love can make you a more focused student, but a lot of the time I just feel like she hates me since she will give me only negative feedback.
I am a combo of the first three, depending on the day. Sometimes I can tell the students can be pushed and like the stricter class to apply lots of corrections, sometimes they've had a hard day or it's the end of the week and they need simpler, fun combos, and sometimes I just have total brain fog and have weird combinations. I feel so bad about those, but they happen. :) Overall, super relatable and totally hilarious!
I have the same ballet and tap teacher every week but she seems to be able to find something new to do every week. With a consistent dance teacher they know what the class needs to improve so personally I prefer it. Also you can be a lot more involved if you know how they teach the class.
My teacher is laid back with a hint of forgetting combos. Like her combos aren’t hard but sometimes she doesn’t understand her own notes and has to run through it in her head first while we stand and wait 😂 but mostly she’s laid back and she’s super funny and always tells us stories and stuff
My teacher is the confusing combinations one, when she does it with us it looks fine but still weird then when we are doing it with her she changes like 3 steps while we are doing it 😂
I love a ballet teacher who sets clear and realistic requirements to students, and who gives corrections that actually work for me :)) I really miss my old ballet teacher! She is elegant and observing, and she not only tells me what isn't working, she will also tell me how I can improve.
“the one who teaches the same class” welcome to syllabus folks i do syllabus class, and personally, i love it. we do do an open class, and i honestly just don’t enjoy it as much as syllabus class, because i’m focusing more on getting the exercise right, but with syllabus, i can really focus on my technique because i don’t really have to focus on the setting. anyway, that’s just my opinion :)
Yeah i do this one too to perfect my technique it also takes me a few days of doing the same routine to get it because it's challenging, and after that I repeat the same class everyday sometimes for a week or more depending on whether I'm doing it perfect or not, sometimes i just keep doing it until it's perfect then i take on a new routine and start the whole cycle again
My teacher always yells my name at me but it’s always in a joking laughing sort of way. Sometimes it means I did well and other times-most of the time- it means I didn’t go fast enough in my pirouettes.
the teacher who is scared to give corrections because she does not want to be 'mean'. like the class could flop over, sickle their feet and screw the dance up and she would be like 'okay very nice, i am so proud, just remember to try your best'
before i got on pointe, we had a teacher (i was like seven) and she expected us to do all of our splits, and if we didn't she would sit on our shoulders until we were in a split, one girl didn't come back because she was scared of her and she wasn't as flexible. she is now fired.
I love my ballet teacher because she’s kind of strict but like not always and always gives helpful corrections without like being rude and gives you compliments if you do stuff good and she’s also really nice
My ballet teacher gives us such simple things and makes such easy combinations and gives us so much time to go through it and says stuff like “I knows this is SUPER HARD so you get 10 hours to work on it” now I’m starting to miss my strict teacher who stopped working at my dance studio bc we weren’t good enough...
my teacher is literally a mix of all of these. like she is rlly strict but also a rlly nice person? and since she teaches us every day we keep our combinations for a week. she also does super confusing combination but wer’e rlly used to it by now :D
In the uk when we are learning grades we do the same exercises each week for the exam, but I go to a performing arts college and I prefer doing different each week cause then I actually have to think about it more and I feel like I’m learning more 💜
Join the club. The difference is which exam board you dance for, RAD is all set and means that everything is exactly the same. On the other hand, ISTD has a mixture of set and free work which allows for a bit more freedom but still with focus on technique and perfection. I prefer ISTD personally :)
Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] - (AMPLIFIED version) NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus. If you have any questions let me know xx x
I had this one teacher who knew her stuff, would tel, us cool stories, still could give us corrections, and was so funny was just the absolute best person
does anyone else have the teacher who has a favorite in every different class, but is ALWAYS changing; like the favor on the student for the class one week but not the next?????? she should do that one! and the one who actually chooses favorites!!...........or wait, the one who talks abt random crap that no one cares abt or the one who is young(er) and does stuff but talks with the students and sometimes the class get CRAZY!!! ❤❤😂😂❤❤😂😂
The thing about dress codes is funny because at my dance school they don’t give a crap we will have our hair down with earrings and anklets and all that jazz (heh I do jazz dance) they won’t even notice
we love it when your doing a confusing combo, but you think you have it, then the teacher says it wrong when your doing it then yells at you for doing it wrong when your actually right lol
My ballet teacher is definitely the laid-back one.. she still gives correction, she’s super funny and tells stories and sometimes uses some fun songs for our combos! I dance in a local ballet studio so, yea, been dancing with them for 6 years! love them sm
the strict teacher was so accurate, she has favorites but atleast her favorites are actually really good only wear black, like ever she has made even the best girls at my studio cry sometimes she walks into another class to talk to a different teacher and i immediately just ✨panic✨ i dont have the strict teacher, but my teacher is a combination of the laid-back & the confusing lmao combination hahah
I like when a teacher gives the same warm ups, like plies or another beginning movement. Just gets your body working without having to think much about it!
the one who LOVES adagio and does like 4 adagio combos the one who has the super complicated combos BUT acts like they're really easy the one who gives really hard barre combos and then makes you do everything in center the one who picks favorites the one who picks people to ignore (for no reason) I could literally think of like 20! lol
I attend a pre-professional ballet school and we do the same class! We do new class work every three weeks and we do that class work 5 times a weeks for a 2 hour class. It is really important for technique and strength! Repetition is important. Love this video Kenzie!
I LOVE THE LEOTARDS THEY ARE SO CUTE!!!!! My ballet teacher is exactly how you showed a strict teacher and she won’t allow any other colour leotard unfortunately so I can not get most of your leotards but I think I will look into the black bat one! Your an amazing dancer keep up the awesome work!
and i kinda like when the teacher give the same class, like not for the whole year but the same for 4/5 weeks, it helps to focus on the mistakes you made the classes before and not be too focus on remembering the combinations, one of my teacher does that and it's honestly pretty great! but he does expect us to know everything for sure
My main teacher is like a combination of the strict one and the laid back one. Absolutely love her. Our supply teacher ist the complete opposite, she's the one with confusing combinations. 😂
I had a teacher who was just like the first one, and she literally made me HATE dancing for a while and I would come home crying after every class, and then I realized I don’t need her approval to know I’m a good dancer hehe. (Ps, I had another teacher who is literally the second one, and I love her so much haha)
I'd say my teacher is laid back, but she also gives precious corrections Also, could you pleeease film a tutorial on how to improve balance and stability?
My favourite teacher is a laid back teacher but also gives lots of corrections she encourages me to improve. I've only been doing adult ballet for 8 months & have another teacher that asks for developpe at 45 degrees but demonstrates at 120 degrees (she's a professional ballerina) & these are absolute beginner classes I take with her. She's just an OTT teacher when she demonstrates 😁
I am a gymnast and I had a coach that just said “don’t even try” after a few minutes. She also said my skills were ugly and she didn’t want to coach me. It made me lose interest and confidence
Thank you so much! I actually moved gyms, but didn’t know that the coach was actually doing coach abuse until I watched this other gymnasts video on coach abuse. I am in a better place now and I’m starting to love gymnastics again. Maybe you should look somewhere else, and it’s ok to cry, and trust me this is not ok my coach was really mean and unencouraging
Both of my teachers had these 'nameless russian ballet teachers' in college. We don't know if it was the same teachers or what, but my favorite theory is that they were wives.
