I think it's maybe because a language can be more identifiable if the flag was used. Plus, scripts aren't that effective either since there are tons of languages using a single script.

Hopefully it does. Otherwise RU-vid would just punish the video by not recommending it to other people.

Kinda interesting to hear that. Oh besides, maybe those few people who can't speak either of those languages are from very rural areas where education isn't widely available.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhh not really People can understand because they're pretty much fixated to how things tend to be or how they are fit. While it is effective, it's still far from good, as it still upsets a multitude of people who see their flag not being represented for their language as unfair. And it doesn't necessarily work every single time. Like I said, people can get upset. And not necessarily everyone gets what it means. Without any context, would you look at the Indian flag placed in a video in which someone is actually speaking Marathi and go, "Whoa they're speaking Hindi, pretty cool." or something like that? Unless you're not familiar with Marathi, you probably wouldn't get it. Plus, it would be weird to put the British flag when a video or audio clip of someone speaking American English is being played.

@@Inescapeium show me someone genuinely confused by this and I'll show you a mentally challenged person. Is anyone in the world honestly confused when a US flag is shown for English or a Spanish flag for Spanish? No. They may be bothered by it, but it's not confusing. If it was confusing, it wouldn't be used. It's really that simple.

I agree but it's better to not use flags as this would still piss off a multitude of people, such as some Brazilians, who believe the Portuguese language should be represented using their flag instead of Portugal's.

According to 2021 statistics, DR Congo has around 72,110,821 French speakers.

​​​​@@Inescapeium 72 M 😂. I'm congolese and people doesn't even speak it every time like first language. I checked 2022 OIF (World Organization of the French-speaking) Data and it said 48,9 M😅 so 46% now, for 105 M peoples

@DanBolamu You do have a good point, though. French is only official in a bunch of sub-Saharan countries, but almost never spoken as a native or first language. In fact, some countries, such as Mali and Burkina Faso, actually removed French as their official language and replaced it with their own native languages. DR Congo is still the most populous country where French is the official language, although France is where the largest number of French speakers live. Plus, I counted second language speakers here. Almost all French speakers in DR Congo only speak it as a second language, while as a first language, they speak a multitude of languages, such as Kikongo, Lingala, etc.

If France don't goes in that way with Africa ( like for Mali and Burkina Faso who make them to remove french as official language ) DRC will be the biggest, most populous and most french speaking country in the world in 2050. Because of relationship with Rwanda, DRC almost have the idea of quit the francophonie like Rwanda before him 🤣 for going in English or it's national language.
