I get what you’re saying but many people are complaining because this literally has been Dior Haute couture for many many seasons and its very frustrating because this is one of the biggest, most iconic fashion houses in the world with some of the most expansive resources, archives and history; its just upsetting that season after season, what we get is bland and even worse than the ready-to-wear. offered by the same brand. Simplicity can be an interesting concept and sure it can be couture for these are masterfully made and beautiful clothes, but its just so repetitive and wasteful

I love the pure creative genius of JG and his HC collections will never be equalled by anyone, but at the end of the day they weren’t very wearable outside of red carpet events, even when you break them down. Dior and the fashion world in general has evolved since the JG days and Dior/Chanel (the only 2 true HC houses left in existence) are focusing on taking technique, detail and craftsmanship to the next level, because they know this is what true HC clients want. If MGC’s collections are so bad then why have Dior’s HC clients grown drastically under her? And why haven’t Dior gotten rid of her already? Dior is not stupid, it’s moving with the times and its priority is what their paying customers actually want, not trying to perpetuate flash-in-the-pan spectacles of the past. At the end of the day the people who actually buy this stuff want more of it, hence Dior has and will keep producing it whether detractors like it or not. HC is not for the masses, and that’s exactly why almost all of the comments on here completely miss the point.

When I read those comments, it is apparent that they are not familiar with Haute couture, the masterful execution of these garments by the craftsperople in the atelier nor the history of the house itself and the vision of each of it's designers. I could not agree more with everything you have said.

@@freakeasia Bland? I am nor seeing what you are seeing. The complexity of the tailoring alone is breathtaking. To achieve the draping, those meticulous cuts and fit? I am not looking for a circus when I am watching haute couture, I am watching to see excellence in design , tailoring , masterful technique. The clothing is beautiful. It does not have to be a spectacle. If you can look at this show and believe it to be "worse than ready-to-wear"? I am just not seeing what you are seeing.

@Tia- l agree with everything you stated. I would just add that the PAYING clients clearly like it because as you stated, each collection looks like the previous one. I think Dior is taking a page out of the Chanel playbook. Chanel did 17 BILLION dollars last year. NON - BUYING people can complain all day but clearly Dior and Chanel are laughing all the way to the bank. Schiaparelli and Alaia presented Amazing collections but Dior and Chanel were much easier to wear. The numbers $$$ don't lie.

@@markjohnson2257 You know, after I posted this comment I realized I forgot to mention, even tho I wasn't bowled over, clearly this has an appeal to somebody, likely a relative handful of super wealthy clientele who're drawn to the aesthetic, devoted and loyal to the brand. So I absolutely agree with you as well. LVMH is raking in massive amounts of cash during record inflation and historically hard times, a staggeringly impressive feat. From that perspective not a critical word can be uttered, to your point.

Bravo, very well said. I thought the collection was highly refined and extremely elegant. Not every piece was my style but I could appreciate the design and wearability for someone older, younger or having a different sensibility to myself.

@@bobduvar A vous entendre j'ai attaqué quelqu'un, la créatrice ou les acheteurs, alors qu'il n'en ai rien (il s'agirait d'apprendre à lire et aussi de comprendre ce qui est écrit, votre réponse est très peu en lien avec mon commentaire). Je me demandais simplement si la simplicité présentée actuellement n'est pas due à l'époque qui se veut plus sobre. C'est tout.

@@cecile2000 Pardon ... je viens de me rendre compte que mon com' était agressif. Alors que je ne le voulais pas. Je voulais simplement dire que la haute couture a toujours été à contre courant des phénomènes de société et des crises que nos sociétés traversent. Les riches en ont cure de la sobriété actuelle.... La haute couture est un monde à part, à l'abri des vissicitudes de la vie du commun des mortels que nous sommes (que je suis en tout cas). Désolé si mon premier com' est agressif. En tout cas ce n'est pas mon esprit......

@@bobduvar je m'excuse également d'avoir été mordante en réponse. Disons que je suis perplexe : l'époque semble être plus sobre que les années Galliano mais d'un autre côté d'autres maisons de couture proposent toujours des éléments plus extravagant. C'est assez curieux que Dior propose des défilés croisières ou prêt à porter plus inventifs que le défilé haute couture. Je ne sais pas si c'est une question d'époque ou de goût de la créatrice. Ou bien est-ce qu'on a trop associé le terme "haute couture" ( qui est une définition juridique encadrant précisément les types de créations) avec forcément quelque chose d'extravagant ? Et dans ce cas tout ce qui l'est moins parait automatiquement fade tout en respectant la définition (je ne doute pas que les vêtements de ce défilé répondent aux critères d'excellence et de savoir faire). Je n'ai pas de réponse, je m'interroge. Pour moi en ce moment, Dior ne me passionne plus autant, en revanche Elie Saab me fascine.
