The Dirtnali goes back together and the pile gets bigger! Part 8 of the 2018 Sierra Denali build

Now that everything is painted it is time to start putting it all back together. It is not as much fun as taking it apart but it is a close second! There is a lot to do for only a door, cab and bedside repair. At least the parts spread out over my house, storage garage, shop and vehicles will all be in one place again!

One of the best, if not the best rebuilder on RU-vid. He takes pride in his work and doesn't cut any corners. I'd feel 100% confident purchasing a vehicle from him. Can't say that about the majority of rebuilders I've watched on here.

You make it look as easy as playing with legos. Anytime I go mechaniking the car ends up with a lower curb weight because of the bits I don't put back in. You are a master making the old new again.

Another A+ flick!! One of the BEST characteristics of your videos is they aren't dubbed full of obnoxious music! I'd much rather listen to nothing, your narration, or the hum of your impact driver. Thank you! I've never used Bauer cordless tools. They look like Milwaukees. Might have to order one the next time I'm in the market for one.
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
Thanks, I too like the noise of the work as fill with the narration instead of silence or music. I'm not a fan of cordless tools. I am still old school and you cannot beat air tools. The cordless are handy though. Since the Bauer are about half the price and do the same as the other brands, I figured I would give them a shot. To me, they are just as good as their competition and so far have been working with no issues. Thanks for watching.

While watching you rebuild this truck, your attention to detail is far none the best I have seen. First you record the process of rebuilding it, then you spend even more time to narrate how you rebuilt it nice and steady, all the while making it interesting to the viewers and not losing their interest - squirrel - see, never happened....can’t wait for the finished product! Most likely it will be better than new... Keep up the great work...😎😎

The back is "normal" again..... until next time. Staying organized helps to know what goes where. This one was pure chaos though. When I hurt my back, parts went in the closest place possible and stayed there until I was ready for them. My Terrain became a two seater for a while. I was glad to have this done just to get all the parts back in the same place once again. Have a great week/weekend. Thanks for your support!

Just binged watched this build. I didn't think you would have the patience to film this much info and sharing it in a concise matter. This is not a how-to video but if you follow along you learn a lot just by paying attention. It certainly demystifies a lot of the "I wonder how that goes in there?" questions most of us have about taking a car apart and putting it back together. I look forward to finale of this great build. In the meant time, I'll catch up on the other builds. By the way, you didn't clean the window on the right back passenger door. 😞 Now that's gonna hunt me forever!!! Take care.
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
This build would be years of individual how to videos. lol I'll get back to the tutorials soon. I go over the basics in those. I never thought I would be able to do the build and record it at the same time but like anything else, with practice you can do it. I have to leave some dirt for the detail guy but I did clean the numbers off the window. Thanks for watching!

Your work is incredible, NO shortcuts. I thought for sure you were gonna masking tape the wire harness onto the headliner. NOPE even in a hidden area you go for stock look. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh and now you just commented on it as I was typing , lol. If that were my truck and one day I went to sell it.... I'd brag you rebuilt it and show them this video. Hell your work is as good if not better than the factory. lol
@vehcor
@vehcor 5 лет назад
Do it the right way, do it once! In the long run spending a little more time saves you money. So many people look at the short term these days. After years of doing things the right way, I have buyers that come to me. Everyone else is spending money to get the buyer to them. Thanks for the support!

I can't pinpoint a specific vehicle, but I recall a couple vehicle repairs in my past that were finicky to clear codes and all it ended up needing was a couple key off cycles to completely erase them. I'm sure you know better than I do that manufacturers aren't always the best about providing that kind of accurate, thorough, and honest service information. One case I can reference to that point was an 08 Escalade where the customer brought it to us wanting to flash his new PCM. The service info was adamant that we could no longer do the 30 minute key relearn. I did the 30 minute key relearn. I hope that helps someday.

Wouldn’t it be better to use clear silicone when you’re glueing the wires to the headliner? I just would have thought silicone would be cleaner and faster than a glue gun. Great build, nice patience, can’t wait for the final video to see how she turns out!!

Hi. Love your channel and your builds. Couldn’t help but notice the struggle with the wiring harness through the dash. I’m not an expert in autos to your degree but drawing on a cabling past best way is to tie a strong twin to the harness prior to removal. Once through the dash cut the twin off and leave in place. When you return the battle is much easier. Keep the awesome videos coming.
@vehcor
@vehcor 4 года назад
I use fish wires/lines when possible. On these it is not the wires that are the problem, it is the plugs at the end. You can see where they need to go but the plug end is slightly larger than the path it must go though. You have to turn it at just the right angle to slide it through and you cannot get your fingers in there to do it. It just takes a little patience, ok a lot of patience. Thanks for the support.

I was waiting for the big "reveal" of the finished truck! This was a really awesome job, let alone the awesome video, commentaries, tips, do's & don't s, etc... was really an amazing job in itself! I know that the extra time & work to make the video alongside the actual work was outstanding! Thanks a million, I now have a totally different & much better appreciation for my body shop for repairing my 2004 Silverado crew cab, in trying to save it from being totaled after a tornado came thru town back in December. It received over $6,500 worth of damage & was so close to totaling it, no wonder he didn't want to change the right rear cab corner pillar, there is so much more to the skeleton behind all the "pretty stuff". You did an awesome job, what were the total man hours & repair costs, for this $70,000 truck in the end? I'm sure it was well worth it, but I can now relate to body work from a whole new perspective! THANK YOU!

You will get to see the reveal this week. I enjoy working on vehicles and the videos just add to the fun. I don't mind sharing what I have learned over my career. Hopefully, the videos help others to learn or even inspire them to try it for themselves. I will have a run down of the time and an overview in the final video as well as a proper reveal when it is actually finished. I hope your truck turned out ok. Thanks for watching.

Excellent, there will be a #9 video then? When #8 ended, it seemed that you were featuring the "pile" at that time... thank you for excellent work & details, please continue to share! It is very clear that you do, in fact enjoy your work, & are very knowledgeable with that series of truck... Awesome! Keep them coming!

@@terrymillburg7236 There will be a #9 and #10. I showed the pile because I was done adding to it. I will finish it up in #9 and fabricate an accessory. #10 will be an overview, fixing things not related to the accident, improving where the factory fell short and my thoughts on the truck after driving it for a few miles. I have to move onto another build for a minute but #10 will be out after that.

Awesome! You pull into the local gas station and someone says, "nice truck. How much it run you?" And you say, " I bought it wrecked at an auction and did all the work myself!" Nice!

@@garyashdown5376 I like my small channel (not the RU-vidr norm, I know). It gives me a chance to talk to people. I learn lots of things in the comments and some are just down right hilarious. Even the trolls amuse me. I dread the day when my channel is too big to reply to everyone. Thanks for the support!
