The Dirty 30s Open Back Banjo

That is some damn fine banjo playing.

I have this Banjo. If you are an occasional player like I am who sometimes gets with friends for periodic jamming this Banjo is all you need. It won't cost you an arm and a leg to purchase like some Banjos do. I got mine right around two hundred dollars new in the box. Of course if you're intending to Gig or play professionally in a band you'll probably want to spend more money ( a whole lot more money )and move up a grade. But just for some fun around the house you can't go wrong with this Recording King model. I like open back Banjos because Pete Seeger always played open backs, and he was my inspiration to want to learn. If you're more an Earl Scruggs Bluegrass Avi condo you'll want a closed back resonator Banjo and you'll need to be prepared to fork over " The Really BIG Bucks " to get one of them. Me and my wallet are both very happy with Recording King.

I'm trying to so hard to get this version of cluck old hen down... I think I've got most of the melody...but I just realized there's this whole "under score"... is that just alternating the 1st and 5th strings softly? I think I'm just not doing clawhammer right...

Sounds great, is there a banjo tuning which is close to guitar standard E tuning? I'm a complete novice. Is this banjo good for a beginner?

My DIL, of whom I am fond, spilled the beans on my father's day gift this year. It's not this banjo. Absolutely not looking forward to this banjo.
