In this video I take a look at Braid, an indie game released in 2008 for Xbox live arcade. The game is seen as one of the most influential independently made games ever and is consistently credited with being one of the catalysts for the explosion of indie games in the last 15 years. The game's creator Jonathan Blow has also risen to notoriety for its innovative and influential approaches to game design and the game industry in general. Jonathan had high ambitions and expectations from Braid and although the game reached commercial and critical success, to him it was in some ways a disappointment. This reaction and experiece is captured in the 2012 film, Indie Game: The Movie which follows the development process behind three games, Braid, Super Meat Boy and Fez. This is a movie that has had a great influence on me and I wanted to discuss some of the sections with Jonathan in a formal video.
