Welcome to the Invokation Akademy Review Session, where I go over all the changes to GITCG from the latest update, and give you my first impressions to get you better prepared for the new metagame.
We have another huge update to cover in Version 4.7. There's a sprinkling of balance changes, but more importantly we have 14 new action cards being added - with some of them being extremely complex! Not only that, 4 of the cards interact with the brand new Discard mechanic - which features heavily on some of new characters. We'll be leaving the 9 new characters for future videos, and today we'll just be covering the action cards, going in depth on each one and how best to utilize each one.
In particular, look out for the sections on End of the Line, Water and Justice (Fontaine resonance), and Kusava, as those are some of the more complicated cards and you need to be aware of how they work, as we'll probably be seeing them a fair bit!
This meta seems to have some really interesting cards to try out, and I'm looking forward to trying some new styles of decks!

I wasn't able to beat stage 1 yet of the new event with my normal decks, but was able to beat the other levels. Looks like have to make a Discard Deck for the first stage.

I am going to make a deck with mamere, sir Arthur, and sunyatta, it may not be good but this quantity of random bs go is hilarious even if sir Arthur isn’t technically random the deck is just going to have different things all the time and that’s funny as heck

Definitely! It'll be interesting to see where they go with this mechanic. I like that it only works with a narrow set of characters for now though so that it's not just in every deck

Thank you for the guide, you are meowelous as ever! Can't wait to see your characters showcase, as my head aches when I try to understand new monsters' text on my own. Also, do you think Sinyan is playable without monsters? I would love to try her out, but I don't like playing monster cards at all.

Monster will be next week at the earliest I'll do the characters first. I think Xinyan is playable with maybe Yunjin as they can synergize with getting rid of your hand fast. I think she works best with the monsters though

I'd love to know if there are any resources diving in depth into each character's talent cards and whether or not to include them in favour of other cards in your deck.

People have asked me to make a talent card tier list. The thing is, the majority of talents aren't worth including, and if they were you would often see them in the decks with the characters heh. When I go over the character cards, I always mention whether the talent is worth playing or not, so look out for that at least for the new chars!

i made the unbeatable deck wrio,xingqui,toma get toma's and xingqui's ults make sure wrio got gambler equiped and his weapon and make sure you also have that arcane card that gives u the turn when you kill someone and just use skill spam normal attacks and see how easy it is

Nice! Setting up Xingqiu and Thoma at the same time is always tough, but definitely strong if you pull it off

Tbh any elemental normals card is "strong" with both XQ and Thoma ults up. The setup takes forever, costs a lot of dice and leaves you vulnerable to interruption. Relying on 2 ults sounds nice on paper but not too sustainable in reality.

Yeah it's a lot to take in if you've been gone for a while. Don't worry too much about balance changes since you can just learn the cards as they are now. I always provide a sample deck with the character showcase, but Wrio has been a hard one to pin down. You can run him over Eula with Mona Wanderer, but ends up feeling more like a wanderer deck than anything else. Still trying some stuff

id love to see you cover wanderer - mona - kaveh, it feels insane. kaveh feels so strong in this deck because he can save you if somehow all the right cards avoided you, by turning them into damage at the end. he is a very dangerous sweeper/finisher card in this deck. seriously, wgs kaveh being able to deal up to 5 base damage (6 if bloom), and then another possibly 4-5 bloom damage after, not even letting the enemy fight back is crazy good. he also makes good use of having more of the weapon cards since he can convert those into dmg. also cashflow is super nice in this deck, it allows you to equip everyone with weapons round 1 (dont equip 2 cashflow on mona and wanderer tho unless youre in some niche scenario), and this makes the dmg just go brr brrr

Not sure about Wanderer in this deck. I think Mona Kaveh though is very solid for the reasons you listed

I really love discard mechanic with narwhal,tighnari, and xinyan , this feels like genshin tcg become modern mechanic like Yu-Gi-Oh, it so different like usual

You know i was not expecting to hear a positive outlook for the discard mechanics. I had a weird reactions when i only saw xinyan's ult discard being the whole hand for what would be only 1 pyro dmg seemed stupidly bad xD Now seeing more of the cards and what they do im glad they added a bunch of support for a new mechanic and im def curious how consistent it is or how good it is considering you usually want to have the cards you put in your deck to be in your hand.. where even doing something as small as tuning could be rough depending on the situation. looking forward to see what your testing will result in, as well as the community.

Yes! They made it look bad but if you build it right your hand is mostly empty by that time already - after which it's good value. Haha I've been testing a bit but first DAMAGE RECORD ON SERPENT LOL cuz I didn't get it for crab

One thing I discovered while playing around with the new cards is that sir arthur does stack. I had 2 of them at 2 stacks and they both copied the same card from the opponent’s deck and they won’t be different.

Yeah each one is independent but you will always end up copying the same card since your opponent can't draw between them triggering

Generally I stay away from leaks. I had to wait until patch was live to post this video to confirm some info on the live client first, but I edited the stuff I knew beforehand

I usually don't do videos for the events since I have my hands full with other stuff. I know they are pretty difficult this time around. For me what worked there was just to play Yunjin and some other NA characters and ignore all the cards in my hand. As long as you kill the 4 HP bot before it buffs the team it's actually not too bad

Just got destroyed by xinyan and narwhal. Had NO IDEA what was going on. Narwhal just kept on gaining HP and next thing i know, im dead. Help

Yeah Narwhal is super complicated - and it's more confusing because his HP gain looks like healing and happens one at a time. Hopefully I can explain it in the later video. But quick answer is - Narwhal eats your Discarded and Tuned cards and just grows bigger lol. Think of it like Crab. If you let it go on too long he gets super powerful

Healing and HP gain is different, becauae healing restore you back to full 10 HP. BUT in Narwhal's case, thats not healing, because its HP can go up higher no matter how many times you discard the cards, it increases the Limit of the character HP. I say Narwhal is the 2nd character to break the rules of 10 HP, The 1st being the Emperor of fire and Iron

Marechause is actually easy to trigger with a healing deck, I think that's exactly what Qiqi was buffed for. The two healing instances count as separate triggers afaik so with her ult up, you can get up to 3 triggers per attack. 4 triggers per round is also super easy with Kokomi's ult (on the whole team too) and Neuvillette can also easily trigger the whole effect with two normals. Wrio is also a character that can really benefit from it. Golden Troupe is the bad artifact, most games don't last past round 3-4 anyways so unless you don't want to use a character's skill the whole game, and save it "just in case", there's absolutely no point using it in a deck lol The bow looks kinda bad ngl, it doesn't give a default +1 permanant dmg buff, so the +1 dmg on the passive just makes it the same as other weapons. Yes, it draws upto 2 cards per round, but... Why do you need that? There's so many ways to draw cards to the point that most players overdraw cards already, adding more card draw sounds like a horrible idea, despite the discard meta lol

Furina's sword actually seems really good for her, you can potentially get 12 stacks per round (min 2 opponent attacks per round, more if they combo or use multi-hit/SC/EC/swirl, even more, team-wide healing from Furina end phase healing 3-4. That's already 5 stacks minimum per round even assuming you have no other source of healing or piercing damage (Vourukasha, Neuvillette, Kuki, Barbara, Wrio all sound really good, plus healing food and Treasure) You're guaranteed at least 8 stacks per round if you're using a second healer together with Furina, which is one trigger every 1.5 rounds, which is really good especially considering Furina seems more like a stall character since her healing is so much more powerful than her damage lol

mm yeah I might have underestimated Marechaussee a little, there's a lot of ways to trigger it. Troupe is narrow but is good with combo decks like ones that use Bennett burst that amplify dice saved into another round. Splendor as well I might have underrated, it's quite easy to get to 12

Well you can play one a round so it's not too bad, just will take some time. If you can avoid getting more than the 2 shuffled in and drawing it, then you probably won't be affected much. It does slow down card draw for sure though

I am gutted that they have locked another new card behind the Sumeru World quests. I haven't been able to do any of them and I hear they take absolutely days. Worst of all, the card they chose to lock behind said world quest is the most important one for the new discard mechanic, Kusava.

Is discard mechanic also apply for tuning? Like for the lyney card, if i tune it, does it come back to the deck?

discard and tune are different mechanic. card will include both discard and tune in the description just like sir arthur while the lyney card only works if you discard it.

As Ichan answered, Discard and Tune are separate, and it's specifically Laboratory, Sir Arthur, and Whale that look at both. Countdown cannot be tuned otherwise it would be so broken haha. Kusava and other Discards count the original cost yes, not the cost in your hand shown

Hm I usually don't do those, but I think there's some other TCG content creators that will often feature a video that shows you how to beat them without even needing to use action cards! I haven't had a chance to do that challenge fight yet either so not sure how difficult it is

Except chong is usually skill NA, but I guess you can equip it as a +1 damage. Though better off using Chongyun talent I think in that case, doesn't cost an extra die

Cant you just discard forbidden knowledge? Seems like that mechanic has been countered from the start. It be interesting if it had an anti-discard effect.

You can, but Discarding a Forbidden Knowledge still means you're down the card that it took up at the top of your deck. It's the same as discarding any other card. Also Discard decks aren't really going to be hurt that much by holding on to them in their hand. But yes they can get around the 1 damage and one per turn limit much easier, which is why I think Mausoleum is going to be a bit overrated. If Discard decks don't turn out to be tournament competitive though, that could change

@@aarinchidamber8194 I think Neuvi is enough of a carry that you don't need Eula or Nahida for damage - Layla is nice because she's defensive and gives you freeze. But definitely give those a go! Furina Fishcl Nahida is actually a good choice but is definitely not a stall deck lol

Heh yeah no nerfs, but crab competitively is still only fringe. There may be some newer tools to make it easier to fight him

Crab isn't that great unless you highroll all 3 tenacity artifacts and its talent lol It only counters healing stall decks unless you use up all the luck of your lifetime
