The smell and taste of durians in many parts around world are like, mixing surgar with a bowl of mashed sweet potato and degenerated onion. Maybe because the durians we can buy were not completely ripe, and frozen for transportation. But in the South-East Asian countries, durian seems to be a total different kind of fruit. About twelve years ago I went to Singapore, and I found that the fact for the perfectly ripe durian is, it smelled and tasted like melted butter and toffee. It is totally unlike what I have in the rest of the world.

hey Amy, it’s my first time to leave you a comment. i lived in sydney from feb 2020 till june 2021, pretty much the same time period when you were staying there as well. my flatmate and i used to watch your video together and go to the restaurant you recommended on the weekends. we went to all sydney restaurants in your top 5 list and some of them we even visited regularly. now we have both moved back to china and resident in shanghai, watching this video brings back so much memory of me and my friends and how we used to spend time in sydney. thank you for creating these amazing contents and i genuinely wish you and your family a wonderful new year ! :)

After you have tasted pig intestine durian and stinky tofu, it really surprised me that your least favorite food list has included wandouhuang (it's made from innocent peas). From another perspective, this inspires me to try some ugly food I didn't dare to eat. Maybe they are better than wandouhuang.

豌豆粉 is the best snack. You have to eat it with sour spicy sauce just like the pickled cucumber dish. Just like century eggs, you don't eat them just by themselves, you have to mix them with well-made sauce.

I still remembered that the time when I went to Brisbane, Australia for a Summer vacation back in mid 2013, it was Winter that all of us needed to change from Summer clothes to Winter clothes, before leaving the airport and taking a tour bus.❄ Despite the freezing weather, I had a tremendous vacation on Australia. (Honestly, I only been to Australia once.)

Most Asians will pay an arm or a leg for the taste of durians but for westerners, there are a challenge and really can't describe the taste of this stinky fruit.

Wherever you were, did not finish cooking the colon. After it has been boiled in brown sauce until the outer ring is really soft, you drain it, dust it with cornstarch, dip it in a thin cornstarch batter, and deep-fry. Dust with salt and white pepper, You can size it as a bar snack, appetizer, or entrée , add a buck for sweet and sour on the side.

In light of roast goose, I highly recommend soya sauce braised goose (豉油鹅), a traditional cuisine enjoyed and celebrated by the people of Dongguan City (东莞市) and other cities in the Pearl River delta area at the time of Chinese New Year. 东莞版豉油鹅 is my favourite.

If Amy is still in Beijing, you can consider to pay a visit to 烤肉季and 砂锅居. It's winter time, you need to eat something hot, warm, somewhat high in calories and cholesterol. Happy 2022 and cheers. 🎉🎊🥂

Hi Blondie, I just want to say a big thank you for making such wonderful videos bridging Chinese culture to Australia's (and possibly the west). For so many years people have made all sorts of comments about certain Chinese foods, creating negative impressions that Chinese people eat exotic and scary things. But seeing you and your cute parents enjoy unusual stuff like chicken feet (we call it 'phoenix jaws'), rabbit head, donkey burgers, and many other delicacies really changes the way people look at food and cultures. Keep up the great work and have so much fun! I've been to numerous cities in China but can't wait to visit Chengdu, Chong Qing, and Sichuan. Way to go!

Duck bars appeared in Shenzhen more than 15 years ago ! Durian- I have been telling myself in the past 40 years to try this thing, either straight or processed, but every time when one is opened, I just went away. At one time while hiking, a friend pull out a durian pastry and I said I would definitely try that today, but as soon as they ripped that plastic packing, I went away again😏😏
