In Canada, if you paddle a lot, we often use a longer, narrower paddle for lakes, and longer distances, but a shorter, fatter blade for faster water and rapids. There are of course in between paddles, and in the end use what’s most comfortable. If you put a keel, or even multiple keels, it would be much easier to keep it straight, and I’m willing to bet it would feel less "wiggly" and unstable too. Of course manoeuvrability would be a lot less. You’re a master with that band saw, nice job.

Great video, Felix. Good paddle for the canoe. However, your followers would like to continue enjoying your mastery for a long time to come. I say this because of how dangerously close your hands look to the saw you use. Be careful, careless with these tools do not give second chances. Cheer up with the channel and we wait for the next one. 👍😉

Since I found your channel I have learned many new skills that I didn't know that I had. I think my winter project will be building a canoe. Marty, here might be a channel of interest if you are basically new to building wooden boats and don't have a sophisticated (like Felix's) toolset. It's kind of like a cross between a canoe and a kayak called the KanoYak . ru-vid.com/show-UCrCTQD0XcHspVJLbha0ys1wvideos?view=0&sort=dd&shelf_id=0 About 30 years ago I built one of these KanoYaks from a similar kit out of plywood, it weighed about 75 pounds empty. It looks like Jim, the company owner has found a way to lighten them up a bit. It's not a whitewater boat, just lakes and easy rivers...a good fishing or exploring boat. It took me and my young son four days and evenings to complete it back then with mostly hand tools and electric drill, saw, & sander, plus a few days to prime and paint it. This was my first attempt at anything like this and it was a grand success. I took this all over the West (CO, NM, UT, WY, MT, SD, NE) on various lakes and rivers. After refinishing it about 12 years ago I gave it to a friend and she has enjoyed it since.

Superbly done. As a suggestion you could think of using outriggers. They will help you with stability. Also you could make it into a removable attachment. That way depending on the conditions you can decide to add or remove the outriggers.
