Don't you just love these two? And it's pretty cool how they start off in black and white and slowly fade into color.
The first scene from the 1985 Colin Baker and Patrick Troughton crossover story, "The Two Doctors." Part 1.
I own no rights to anything in this video.

because Patrick refused to have his hair dyed or wear a wig like he did in the 5 doctors special as he found it very uncomfortable. And as he was doing this as a favor for his good friend Peter Moffatt, Moffatt agreed especially since Patrick much like Tom Baker were distancing themselves from Doctor Who. It should be noted that Patrick and Colin got along very well Colin was a friend of the family he and Patrick's son were best friends and Colin was a groomsmen at Pat's Son's wedding

He's not just a Highlander, he's a McCrimmon. The McCrimmons actually existed and were the Royal Pipers in the 1700s. Their college of music had considerable power and prestige. Since Jamie was a piper for the clan, he presumably would have been a part of that college. In addition to regular Highland rules, he would also have been obliged to follow the political obligations of his clan's special status and also any college rules.

You gonna argue that liz Shaw, Sarah Jane, leela, Romana or nyssa (just to name a few) fit into that role? Even then, that's a horribly reductionist way to look at the characters who technically do fit that archetype. Are you gonna try and tell me that ace and Donna are at all similar? I agree with the general criticism that they should vary the type of characters they have as a companion more than they do though, as far too many are a girl from present day earth. Other than captain Jack, who was only a companion for 2 stories, every single companion in the modern show has been from present day earth. Even in the old show that problem started to show up towards the end where all of the 6th and 7th doctors companions were from present day earth.

Why is no one talking about the set itself? The set is the normal 1980s set and the console was the 1975-1983 console that was taken out of storage for a “retro” look for the 2nd doctor’s TARDIS. they did an okay job for a tight budget for a small scene, though I don’t see why they couldn’t have pulled a wooden chair and a table from somewhere since the 2nd doctor’s tardis had those

Who here thinks this takes place after the War Games? I mean, we never see Troughton turn in Pertwee in that story. It's quite possible he aged a few hundred years.

No your absolutely right all the 2nd doctor in multi doctor stories take place after The War Games people argue it isn't haven't got a clue In the 5 doctors 2nd says to the brigadier that it's the fourth time he met him and mentions Omega When he meets the hallucinations of Jamie and Zoe he says the Timelords wiped your memories of me. In this story in this scene he mentions having left victoria to study graphology which we know she stayed behind in Fury from the deep ( must have re encountered each other) He also mentions sometime shortly after this scene that he has been set on a mission by the Timelords. So I'm pretty sure he worked for them to shave time of his exile and got his memory wiped when turned into 3rd.

@@Daldi564 well, the Doctor, Jamie and Victoria ended up encountering a Timelord constable called Pavo who they were forced to work with in order to close a black hole that threatened to consume a space research station. However, in the process Pavo’s TARDIS was destroyed, and so the Doctor offered to help him complete his mission in talking Dastari out of his time travel experiments. So Pavo gave the Doctor a stattenheim remote which changed the console room layout and the Doctor and Jamie left after dropping Victoria off at the research station’s library. After the Doctor completed his mission, Pavo erased the TARDIS teams memories of their encounter so that he wouldn’t have to arrest them. The story is called “The Black Hole” and I’d recommend checking it out as there’s a whole other twist that I left out of my explanation above

That would be an interesting dynamic. They would just be disagreeing and despising each other the whole episode. Also, although 10 is usually a pretty nice guy, he can be crabby when provoked, so 6 might bring out the worst in him. But of course in the end, they would part on somewhat decent terms. :)

Maybe this episode doesn't take place in season 6b but in the far future where the Doctor is revisiting some old faces. However Gallifrey's fate have to be retcon again to have Two working for the time lords

Considering this season 6B... After this story was concluded, the 2nd Doctor explained that this other highlander they once met in a previous post War Games Trial story was the result of the forbidden breeding between Time Lords and humans. Something the Time Lords consider an abomination with all such offspring needing to be eradicated - except for maybe one who will inherit all the regenerations of the others as well as their knowledge of Gallifrey - which isn't Zeist. Random thought which makes no sense, but it just popped in there.

Someone from Gallifrey which acts as a type of secret service must have made the 2nd Doctor do this mission in exchange of looking the other way and misleading the others hunting him down, since he was on the run from his people at the time, and erased his and Jamie's memory of it afterwards, since Jamie never heard of the word 'timelord' until the 2nd Doctor had no choice but to contact them which led to his trial and saying goodbye to Jamie and Zoe.

*Big Question:* Did the BBC and the _Doctor Who_ production team actually put the console (last used by Peter Davison in "The King's Demons") in storage for two years until they used it for this scene? Was it a "back up" prop in case its successor (the futuristic console used for the rest of the Classic series' run) was unreliable?

wasnt the console still suppose to be the first doctor's console? (we did see the 3rd doctor use the 1st console) though i just assume the didnt have it anymore
@TheProfessor230
@TheProfessor230 3 года назад
Yeah, plus even if they did have the first console, it was in bad condition by the war games, and it was expensive to recreate the original set from the 60s, however, they did still have the late 70s/early 80s console in storage, and that console was used to give a vintage look. Maybe one day we can get a special edition of this story and the second doctor and Jamie could be greenscreened onto the original 60s set, it is possible nowadays.
