Another version of The Doctor's Theme and another from Forest of the Dead. This is similar to the other version I have extracted but features different vocals and is also arranged differently. Enjoy.
I've always had a very slight headcanon that the music we here in this scene as River whispers is the Doctor's name. We've never heard Gallifreyan spoken untranslated into English so I love the idea it's musicial and all this beautiful Murray Gold music is almost a Gallifreyan narration to their life
A blend of “The Doctor’s Theme (Series 4)” and “Turn Left” is pretty much the perfect theme for 10, as far as I’m concerned. The grand backing instruments of the main Series 4 version coupled with the downright haunting vocalization of the melody heard in Turn Left. Chills.
Back when it was the latter years of the Steven Moffat era I was really falling out of love with the show and I was longing for the quality to improve and for my love to be reignited again and hearing extracts from the score such as this one on rewatches just made me long for that feeling again. Now that RTD is coming back for the foreseeable, I hear this score again and I feel at peace, I have so much faith we’ll be back to the same level of excitement that we had before. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this way, it’s almost like saying hello to a friend you’ve not seen or spoken to in 20 years
I'm in exactly the same boat. Except I fell out of love after Moffat's first series and it only got worse from there. RTD's return is the reason I am sharing these tracks as I am finally optimistic and excited for Doctor Who's future again.
RTD first era was peak Doctor Who. Always thought the 11 Doctor was good but just felt too clumsy for drama show. Capaldi brought back some of the darkness that was missing since the RTD earn, even if not all of his episodes were well written. Really started to like the 12th doctor though.
@@badger5921 We're talking about the score, not the episode itself, and The Doctor's Theme is synonymous with the RTD era as it more or less disappeared once Moffat took over (with a few small exceptions)
the scene where River whispered The Doctors name, you can see in 10's face, it was a mix of realization and fear, as he said later on, there was only one time he would ever tell anyone his name, and considering we've even yet to see that scene in the show anywhere (wedding of river song didn't count since that was a lie), makes me hope we get to see more of the doctor with river in the future, as theres still so much about her we haven't seen yet.
I think he meant "When I'm dying", because 11 whispered something when he was dying due to River's poison, I think, it's been a long time since I've seen "let's kill Hitler"
@@L1z43vrthat was just him telling Melody to tell River Song that he loves her, which she then realised is aimed at her once the she asks the Tesselecta to show her River, showing that she goes by that name in her future
I honestly think he told her on Derillium. The only times I could see him telling someone that name is if he settled down with them or if he was dying. The Doctor is many things, sentimental is one of them.
This scene always makes me really emotional. I think it's the mixture of the beautiful music and the look of realisation on the doctor's face. Great music, really clear 😊
The parting of ways variant when the doctor saves release the energy of the time vortex just makes me want to cry. It feels like the completion of nine's arc
@@erin_3569 yea. I made DW music my bedtime music, and now I cry at night. It's just so sad, I don't know why. That's also when my mind questions reality!
@@MadmanWthABox I honestly find series 1 too much underrated, the character arc of Eccleston's version of the character deeply touching. I don't know, It felt a bit more working class, back then. I think Eccleston brings an energy that feels like the Doctor is deeply hurt and sad, and for some of it, it has as much to do with the writing that Eccleston himself. Not just his acting, but the man has a lot of traumas he's able to channel into the role
The Doctor's real namr is the mystery to end all mysteries I've always felt that it's a name the Doctor is ashamed of, perhaps due to its meaning Perhaps it relates to the Timeless Child and the Other
Well it wasn't really a mystery in the classic series, his name was Theta Sigma, just like how there was a powerful Time Lord called Omega. With how much they've messed with it over the last 20 years I can't see them revealing it unless they end the show with it
@@Whiteythereaper the Doctor was originally called John Smith. This was retconned to be a fake name. Then Theta Sigma. This was retconned to be a nickname. These two names and retcons occurred in the classic run. Ultimately the Doctor has many names, and any answers we get are inevitably going to be undone sooner or later.
I do NOT know if you're taking requests as taking samples from these shows is a bit harder than it looks, but I'd love it if you could do some unreleased tracks from a Girl in the Fireplace, particularly the music that comes in during the opening bit. The soundtrack in THAT episode in particular is some of Murray Gold's best in the RTD era, at least in my opinion.
