The Doctrine of Belonging | D. Todd Christofferson | October 2022 General Conference 

I'm a new member coming up on my first year, anniversary I've started Temple work, 56 years old and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only Church I've ever felt and know I belong, thank you Heavenly Father for sending the Missionaries to my door

This speech fully touched me because for the majority of my life, I didn’t feel welcome at church. It has only been the past 5-6 years (in my Henderson, NV ward) that I finally feel welcome and not judged. I think it’s the area and also my own place in life that I no longer feel that way. I appreciated this message. ❤🙏🏻

Impressive inspired talk. My children were missing for years and it was so difficult to attend church. Thanks to the helping hands of others and faith in our savior I was strengthen. I hope that others find comfort in these thoughtful inspired words. Thank you

I'm so grateful as a single mother of a biracial daughter, an RM, for Elder Christofferson, and the words I needed to hear at this time in my life. I know this church is the true church of Jesus Christ, and I'm so grateful he speaks to me through our Prophet and Apostles. We're so blessed. I feel our Lord and Saviours love. I testify he lives, loves, and forgives us.

Amazing talk! Is it just me who wants to meet this amazing man?

This is the reason we should not ask certain questions. Questions like, "are you pregnant?" Not every couple wants children, and not every couple can have children. The church focuses so much on "multipling" that for those who cannot, or does not, others make them feel less than. *The best talk of this conference (and Sunday's conference is still hours away). This man touched on multiple important topics (racism, discrimination, prejudice, feeling inadequate/not enough, the struggles of being childless, and the difficulties faced when raising a family, etc). A lot of our local leaders avoid the topic of racism, discrimination and prejudice. It's taboo, like it does not exist. Well, elder Todd, thank you for confronting the elephant in the building. I just listened to This talk for the 3rd time again after it being to late last night for fully comprehension over here in Europe but I had felt the spirit and power of the talk yesterday already. Thank you elder Kristofferson for Clarity and pure doctrine and love and power and hope and assurance simply telling us how to belong and help others feeling that they belong. Thank you “being ONE with the father the son and the Holy Ghost is the ultimate belonging” “Belonging comes not as we wait for it but as we reach out and help one another” ❤

As one brother in the family of Jesus Christ, hello to all and I do love the feeling of belonging to all of you who worship and humble themselves to serve our Father in Heaven the best that we can. Reading the comments and finding out that some felt they didnt belong saddened me....no one should be feeling this way when they come to church and members are to make sure they treat everyone with kindness n love.

I love Elder Christofferson! It's so nice to have the conference talks up so quickly in separate format so we can start studying their words. I love how conference's theme was on belonging and growing closer to Jesus Christ. We belong to him and as the body of Christ we belong to each other just like our own body. We wouldn't cut off our toe saying we don't need it anymore. Every body (part) is important!

I enjoyed this talk, very beautiful that unites us in Christ, and oh! How much he loves us. He, yes He Jesus the Christ our Savior and Redeemer.

This is an important talk. I’m glad that he claimed the word “belonging” for God, before the Marxists could try to claim it from themselves. Language is crucial, and there are many who manipulate the meanings of words to further an agenda within the church which is inconsistent with the gospel and the plan of salvation. Sherem had a perfect understanding of the language of the people and he used that knowledge to manipulate people’s thinking to pervert the ways of the Lord. It’s very important that prophets, seers, and revelators take time to solidify the correct understanding of important words to prevent them from being used to deceive people in the future. Belonging, for example, if defined as feeling comfortable and accepted and celebrated just as you are, can and will be used force the renunciation of many gospel principles and commandments. If the Church teaches that marriage is between a man and a woman, it will be accused of making LGTB people feel that they don’t belong. They will be accused of being exclusive rather than inclusive. Under such a definition of belonging, the Church will always be under condemnation until the doctrine of the family goes away.

the church celebrates perfect families, those of us who are single don't experience pleasant feelings. I feel bad for the couple who were in a toxic situation and instead of valuing mental health or dignity they went back to abuse.

Right before he was announced as the next speaker I said to my kids, "The next speaker will be my favorite, Elder D Todd Christofferson,and he's going to speak something about establishing Zion." We were all extremely shocked when my mini- prophecy came true! ;) An amazing talk!

I needed this talk today. I felt like it was just for me because I am the cipher in the Ward.

The Doctrine of belonging is by the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints the gospel Parable to rendering out what belongs to Cesar as in today no different by the desires of the heart and agency to be a agent of your choice as opposition in all things belong to the choice we make even if it be by death to understanding Resurrection and Jesus Christ is the Resurrection to the fullness of the gospel by the first and last by the coming to fullfiing the responsibilities we opportunity blessings for time and eternity the covenants we belong to as we make a Doctrine opposition to covenants by choice to be One by faith and the work sustaining and magnifying the Holy Ghost companion to belong by the teachings of the articles of faith as we be called by God Jesus Christ reign personally on earth. To understand they be no other God before me , to Revelation manifestation Jesus is Christ the Eternal God making order to commandments growing as the articles of faith teach.

Anyone else think it’s weird that he uses the idea of moms sending their kids to daycare as an example of someone who is avoiding the trials of life? I agree with the message that hard things inspire growth … but you’re going to use daycare as an example, really? Let’s give annoyed moms a break, they work hard enough without being shamed for using daycare 😅

Please don't tell us not to be "racist" without telling us what racism is. According to the world all the scriptures, especially the PofGP, are "racist" ... so please, don't tell us not to be something without telling us what that thing is
