Music video Live in California I like doobie brothes. Very nice! Member Cornelius Bumpus/Chet McCracken/Bobby laKind/Keith Knudsen John McFee/Willie Weeks/Michael McDonald/PetRick Simmons ザ・ドゥービーブラザーズ「ロング・トレイン・ランニン」
I wasn't rocking with them in 70's. I was born in 71. I do love them now. I wish I could have lived it and experienced their talent back in their prime. Their music is timeless! ❤
Cornelius Bumpus did his thing, then had the nerves to give us a sax solo. Love it. The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music. Man I miss it.
WOW. These guys are friggin' phenomenal. One of the best live versions of a song in recorded histories. Such incredible talent. They are so so so so together. Awesome.
It's now February 2024, it's still sounds fresh and I just love the expression on the face of the guy in the orange shirt playing the congas (sorry, don't know his name), and RIP all those members who already hv left us, thank you for the music
Compare the incredible talent and the music they produced back then with the absolute unmitigated garbage that is being peddled as music today… RIP Rock and Roll.
Man... I so much miss these days when the bands were getting down and musicians were getting off. This was the real deal. Not like the junk so called music out there today.
Fact :1980s was king because its the only decade had the most diversified and different genres of music out of any other decade and MTV catapulted in the summer of 1981 and through the rest of the decade of the 1980s.
I saw the Doobie Bros in the New Haven Coliseum in CT aug 30 1975 I went with my parents. I was like 7yrs old and the only way I can describe it was hippies, volley balls, frisbees and a whole lot of POT. Btw the other bands that night were the Outlaws and Elvin Bishop Group. There were tons of joints being passed around and people just shared with everyone. I kept asking my mom what that smell was and she avoided the question lol. Doobie bros are great
One of the best highlights of the Michael McDonald era of The Doobie Brothers was Cornelius Bumpus. Only he could do such a phenomenal rendition of "Long Train Runnin'" years after Tom Johnston left the band. This has got to be one of the best live performances by The Doobie Brothers!
I was taught guitar by a Doobie Brothers stand in the ‘70s named Alfie Stein while living in Manhattan,KS during my Dad’s assignment at Ft. Reilly, KS when in the 4th grade. He’d be flown in and cover if they were sick or otherwise unavailable including a show at Madison Square Garden, a highlight for him. He was incredible and did teach me sheet music, but his focus was on playing by ear, sound and feel. This , Stairway to Heaven and Rocky Mountain Way were the first 3 songs he taught me. Resulted in me getting to play in the hop bands while attending USMA and playing in other original music bands afterwards through my 30’s. I still laugh that my Mom told me I needed to learn something country if I wanted continued lesson funding, so Alfie taught me “I Walk the Line” from Johnny Cash. She now in her 70’s still requests to hear that when she visits now in 2022. Thank you Doobie brothers and Mr. Alfie Stein for your positive influence on my life!
When the drum solos are in full towe its just lovely to see Cornelius gazing over and watching he put himself in the audiences shoes for that moment, humbled him im sure!
American rock at its absolute best ! Pure energy but with such great refinement, incredible! And a sax solo in the middle of it all ! Out of this world if you compare that with what you get to listen to nowadays. Phenomenal musicians !
One of the “Greatest Bands In The World” that just doesn’t get their credit for it except for their fans who know the real truth and appreciate and love it every time they get to see them. I like how they got together separately to combine their individual videos during the Covid time to bring their music to us all just as a bunch of other musicians did. My appreciation to all who did. It shows us all how much musicians just love to play and be heard and it brought much needed happiness in one of America’s worst times in a wave of tragedies ever growing, fires, floods, landslides, tornadoes, hurricanes and on and on. The pandemic took over a million great Americans away and many of those were musicians we all remember. So for Great older bands such as the Doobie’s to get together and still play for us all is like a beautiful ray of sunshine warming us all. May god bring peace to us all, and keep on loving that good music and each other.
Yeah, those damn pop artists who have dumb lyrics written by someone else can't compare to talented musicians who write their own lyrics and music, and know how to have every member of the band do an epic freestyle solo in just one song.
Cornelius Bumpus was extremely underrated and a brilliant musician and master of many instrument, and the man could sing like a lark...He passed way to young. A great loss for the music world.
This is indeed a legendary bit of rock history. Three of the Doobies featured in this video are no longer with us. May their spirit live on forever through their music! Rock on Doobie Brothers! Your music and talent are timless.
Love John McFee jumping down onstage without messing a beat The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music. Man I miss it. For years I thought this was an Isley Brothers Tune!
I've never heard Cornelius sing this before and he sounds brilliant. I was expecting Patrick to sing it but this is excellent. Rest In Peace big man, you are a giant in music.
Who ever gave this a thumbs down needs their thumbs cut off. EPIC VERSION AND TIMELESS MUSIC What is give to be there right now The 1970’s was the best decade in the history of music. Man I miss it.
What an absolute treat to see these guys play, and don't forget the legend 'Michael McDonald' on piano in the background seemingly playing a cameo roll.
A precious Jem. Music for centuries! Had so much meaning Never be old. People were different, so much talent in each of them. This masterpiece is special! Cornelius I love your charisma, I want you back!
From a musicial standpoint they may be one of the greatest bunch ever, certainely up there with Eagles , Almond Bros and Skinnard.....what talent.....far as guitar player's go they take no back seat to anyone.......there all unbelievable......
DAMN!! What a line-up. Phenomenal solos. On a side note (yeah I'm bragging, I was lucky enough to meet Cornelius Bumphus years ago. After a brief conversation he invited me.back to his house to play with him and his friends. The best part was I got invited back a second time. RIP Mr. B.
Wow! What a performance. The musicianship is other-worldly. Crazy good. What a vibe. This was quite a line-up. These guys have always had a good line-up, no matter the changes. Each one brought something special. And in this one, Cornelius nailed down Tommy's vocal parts - spot on! His keys. His sax. Wow. Killer stuff from this legendary band.
Brings back memories when me and my wife went to see them in spfld ill in i believe 80 or 81 at prairie capitol convention center. They put on a great show and I remember the cops were there and when they seen a doobie (joint) being passed around they just pointed at where they seen it and did nothing, very cool of them. Needless to say the whole place smelled like burning leaves. LOL
The Doobies were awesome and hold their spot as one of the greatest Southern rock bands. Allman Brothers and Skynyrd and Doobies however the order they were the heart and soul of Southern Rock period
