It's such a shame that kind of negotiation is gone. I'm 52, when I was a kid we were given space to be 16 year olds. Now there is such a clamp down, it truly has become the limiting of education. Music, like all freedoms, needs to be a free experiance.

Saw them last night at jones beach and was blown away. Amazing musicians. Michael mc was struggling a little bit with some of the parts but other than that they were flawless. Played like a bunch of young bucks all night.

I do not know where you live, but here in NYC [Google the Ignorant Texas Family that beat up a host at Carmine's Restaurant here in NYC, because they DID NOT HAVE Vaccine documentation and were not allowed in...Don't post ignorant Gibberish saying "eff covid" ....The super of my building lost 3 family members aged 45-73 who died at the height of the pandemic.

I just saw the Doobie Brothers in concert this Summer of '21. They were awesome! They performed 22 songs and then 3 more for the encore! I said to my daughter who was with me: "These guys are really good for being old folks, huh?" She smiled and replied: "They're really good, period!" :D

One of the most surprising concerts I ever attended was the Doobie Brothers. I knew and enjoyed their music…but didn’t consider myself a fan and didn’t own their records. I didn’t need to…they were on every radio station 24/7. With low expectations, I went with my friends to see their show. We somehow managed to grab 12th row seats. And I was captivated. Hearing their entire body of work done live was quite impressive. Seeing them perform live was a joyous experience. Thank you for the walk down memory lane. We have all aged…but we grew up with the best rock music ever made. I feel sorry for anyone under 60 who missed this musical era. Ya had to be there!

I feel for them as well. I remember seeing ZZ Top and Aerosmith during their stadium tour in 1976. I saw Rush (and actually met), Kansas, Roy Buchanan and many others in a tiny college auditorium. It was a GREAT era for live music...

I’m so greatful for inheriting a bunch of vintage vinyls and discover these talents at an age in my life where I’ve realized music in this day and age doesn’t compare. Obviously I can pull out iTunes and play whatever but it’s cool to have something you can hold and look at in your hands. If only I could’ve been there

Michael McDonald is phenomenal! He added a whole new dimension to their band. I can't imagine that they've released an album without him. I saw them in college in 1977 and I've been a huge fan ever since.

Michael is very humble. The band didn't "lose it's soul" when he joined. The great original songs were still there, he added great ones to them.

McDonald saved that group from irrelevance. When he moved on to a solo career, his work was done.

With “two Doobies”, the world gets twice the hits and musical flavor it would have had otherwise. Personally I love both, always have and make no preference. But yeah, McD was a huge WTH at the time… thankfully!

Michael MacDonald converted the Doobie Brothers into a Blue-Eyed Soul band during my youth....As an African American Female, bused out to a predominately white school back in the 70s...the "heavy metal" locker area was too much for a child raised on R&B and Jazz....When I heard the Doobie Brothers, on AM Radio, that was it for me...an instant fan, til this day, lol...I was fortunate to see the Doobie Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire and the Eagles at Freihoffer's Jazz Festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center [ SPAC ] and Radio City in NYC throughout the past 15 years....I always enjoy these bands immensely my entire adult life.

Led Zeppelin and Parliment Funkadelic were here in NYC, I only got to see PFunk at Tramps [standing next to me, standing room only at Tramp's that night, was Prince....I was near the speakers....Somehow managed to tell Prince I saw his Freshman show at Giant's Stadium in New Jersey [ At that NJ show,Prince was in platform shoes, fishnet stockings and garters, Still sexy as all get out to me, LOL], and [though he was older than I], we shared the same birthday, lol. [ Not casting aspersions whatsoever on Led Zeppelin, I enjoy them as well, great selections, BTW ] I referenced the Doobie Brothers because they were the subject of the CBS Sunday Morning interview, and I actually got to see them live on stage. Thanks for the Zeppeline titles, { I am terrible at recalling the name of songs, even if I enjoyed the tune }.

One of the best live shows I've ever seen, seen them 3-4 times now. They all line up at the front of the stage and PLAY. They are one cohesive band and they put it all into the show. Not over the top, nothing unnecessary. Just a bunch of guys having fun playing great music.

Michael diversified their repitoire and gave the group a unique richness that nobody else can quite match. I love both periods because it is still great music, just different...you get two bands for the price of one and never a dull moment!

I always embraced what Michael McDonald did for the Doobie Brothers. I think he came in and help take up the mantle when Tom was not in a good place physically or mentally. I still play their whole assembly of music. I think it is great that they are still out there making great music and having fun doing it. I think it is great that Michael has chosen to tour now with them. They have stood the test of time. Great musicians, great songwriters, great ambassadors for all that Rock and R&B has to offer.

Their success and longevity is their ability to branch out, explore new sounds and styles especially with Michael. Skunk Baxter had a lot to do with their Grammy for Minute by Minute. If it was up to Tommy, they would be a straight ahead Rock and Roll band. All the while you have Patrick just moving forward learning new music and being the one constant since the beginning. They have struck a great balance, hope they just keep on making it work.

I’m 68 and the Doobies exploded on the scene when I joined the USAF. Everybody I knew had all the Doobie Brothers albums in their record collections. One of Americas greatest bands.

When I was a kid we were traveling home from my granny’s house and I heard China Grove on the radio for the first time. I was so excited with that music, I just had to have the record.problem is I missed the name of the song and band. This was almost 50 years ago and I still remember it, that is the impact it had on me. Took me awhile, but I tracked down the name of the song. The best of the Doobies is still my favorite record, every track a gem. I hope these guys know how much joy and excitement their life’s work has brought to so many, even a kid in a small town in Minnesota, 50 years and running. My only issue with them is in the interviews their lack of acknowledgment of the Brothers of the past and those that have passed. Baxter, Bumpus, Knutson, Porter etc. made huge contributions. Guess they think it best to keep it light and in here and now.

When I watch this segment, I get teary eyed and am in awe at how brilliant and humble these guys are. I know they understand how seminal they have been and still are to millions of listeners ranging from those that got to see them in their early years to those who are the grandchildren of the first fans. Sure, there are many iconic groups still out there playing but few can compare to the overwhelming musical talent and strength of personality that the “core four” possess. It’s like hanging out with your cousins on Thanksgiving Day and throwing a football in the street. One feels “at home” with the Doobie Brothers. They radiate goodness throughout and have that folksy, Smokey Americana slant to them. It’s comfort food to me in a world fraught with division. They unify and lift the spirit to a place where few others have lead and the world is blessed to have had and still have them.

Many a happy hour during my college years in the first half of the 70's were backed by The Doobie Brothers being played pretty loud in the background. My college buddies, the gals who ran around with us - we all loved their music. It quite simply just made us feel good. People don't forget the times in their lives like that, and I'm sure that, in part, that's the reason for their success still today. Whether at a big house party or 'rockin' down the highway', The Doobie Brothers were the sound track to my youth.

It's true they have a different sound and different vibe with and without Michael McDonald. Pre-Michael they were more rockish and with Michael they are more soulish. Either one sounds fantastic and you'd be a fool to just choose one version of the Doobies to side with. BTW, It Keeps You Running is my fave Doobies' song and probably one of their most underrated.

The early days of Yacht Rock- now, if these guys, with Michael McDonald, joined Fleetwood Mac on stage for a joint nationally-televised concert with both Christopher Cross and Kenny Loggins as guests, that would be a major plus. I can also see Nicolette Larson's daughter, Elsie May make an appearance as well!!!

I preferred the guitar-driven era (early-mid 70's) more than what they did in the McDonald era, but it was them simply shifting gears and adjusting to more of what was going on in the late 70's. The thing is - they still did it all SO good. Regardless of where their music was going, they still killed it. The one constant? Their vocals. Probably one of the all-time greatest vocal bands there has ever been. Perfect harmonies. Having a band that (now) has McDonald, Johnston & Simmons singing together almost isn't fair. They're really that good... Long live the Doobies!

I have had the great fortune to listen to the Doobies since they became the Doobies. A huge fan their music is iconic and every song for me just flows. I believe they provide one of the best band group harmonies and singing ever which is why they are in the in 2004, Vocal group Hall of Fame and were inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame on November 7, 2020. 40 million albums worldwide! I had the pleasure of seeing them live at the Warner Theater in Torrington, CT. During the performance there was a problem with the lighting and when they stopped to fix it I walked down the aisle to the stage and shook my favorite Doobie Brothers hand Tom Johnston. Told him to never stop playing - he smiled and said hope not. Love his voice love the group. Fav song Long Train Runnin’.

The first concert I went to, way back in the 70's, was THE DOOBIE BROTHERS. I couldn't hear normally for 3 days, my ears were ringing. It was an experience I will never forget.

Patrick Simmons reminds me of the tall, skinny guy in Earth Wind and Fire 🔥 they hardly ever change! The Doobie Brothers music 🎵 🎶 transcends all boundaries-they are the soundtrack of my life! I wish that modern radio 📻today wasn’t so segmented and played songs by older artists who are still making music as relevant as ever...😩👍🙏😘

My second concert in 1978. I’ve seen them at least 10 times or more. Meet and Greets x 3 and autographed tickets! Such a tight band and so nice in person!!!!! My favorite all time favorite song is South City Midnight Lady!!!!! Pat Simmons …… so soft spoken. John McFee,,, so nice and allows cheek kisses, ( all of them do!) Tom Johnston, totally sweet and Another Park Another Sunday is autographed on my ticket stub, Billy Payne on keys is so nice and John on bass is incredible! We try and do the meet and greet when we can. I often wonder if they wear their University of South Carolina t shirts I bought them 7 years ago! Lots of respect for these guys! Congratulations on the RRHOF induction and can’t wait to catch this show!!!!

Saw the Doobie Brothers in 1972 as the warm-up act, and they blew the main act (Quicksilver Messenger Service) off the stage. They still sound amazing.

I am 63 years old and I have followed these guys since they began. I really enjoyed the Michael McDonald era. To this day I still get tears when I hear "what a fool believes" for personal reasons as I lived a version of it. It will be a terrible loss the day one of them leaves us. Rock on guys as long as you can...

Saw these guys at Naval Station in Hawaii while stationed there in 1998. The newspapers described the audience as “small but very enthusiastic “ and I was one of about 2500. Still remember Pat Simmons playing slackey guitar on Black Water. I did meet Michael McDonald (I was working security by his tour bus). He shook my hand, thanked us for doing our jobs. Super polite and humble guy with an incredible voice.

I saw them in the Baltimore Civic Center in May 1974 and, to this day, can unequivocally state that I’ve never seen any better live band. Their talent was/is extraordinary and remains fresh nearly 50 years on!

I was in a band in the early seventies and played a lot of Dobbie Brothers songs including Black Water Long Train Runnin, Eyes of Silver, Another Park Another Sunday to name just a few. But for a long time, our encore song was China Grove.
